@@Benji568 I agree with what you say about Hush. But there’s nothing “gross” about Batman and Batgirl. I had no issue with that scene at all. If it bothers you, then skip the prologue. The rest of Killing Joke is great.

It's gross and I really don't want to see that. He ruined his legacy by doing all that shit when Paul Dini wasn't involved to keep him in check. It was an insult to the old DCAU. If you don't see it my way, fine. To me, it's just a bit mental and baffling.
@@Benji568 I disagree with what you said about Hush. His identity was obvious from the start (as he was the only new character of the story) and his backstory was such a cliché to say the least, a pure psychopath envious of bats for a change. I liked everything else of the comic, but his part I found so boring.
I love Damian telling Bruce to cover his drink, knowing full well that’s how Talia al Ghul made him (Damian) with Bruce. Hush in the comics is Thomas Elliot.
Hated it. They made Talia a rapist while she's supposed to be a grey character. And then they didn't even acknowledged that she was made crazy by her little dive in a Lazarus pit.
It was Killer Croc in the Comics instead of Bane. The last movies you have in this universe is The Wonder Woman movie, and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. Darkseid is awesome in this.
I think hush should have been the villain for Matt Reeves’ Batman, him or victor zsasz. Great underused villains that would have made so much more sense then the riddler
Victor Zsasz is NOT a main villain of a movie. He is just a guy who gets taken out quickly. That’s a genuinely awful take. Hush was set up as an option in the movie and the Riddler made more sense as his first supervillain while introducing goons that follow him.
@@DanV900 zsasz is the perfect example of a classic serial killer. He also makes more sense then riddler for Pattinson Batman because part of his origin involved the mob and the penguin. Just because he has only ever been used as a side piece doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of being one. It’s a simple but effective villain that serves well to introduce a new, young/inexperienced noir batman. Also the riddler take in batman was mid af, screaming and crying killing with frantic knife strikes is not riddler, but it is victor zsasz. Makes much more sense imo, but you do you.
@@matthewwatson1463 So you admit Zsasz has only ever been a side villain where he’s a guy you use to get taken out in an introduction of a movie or for a scene to show Batman can take a C-list villain out. He was used correctly in Batman Begins. Riddler isn’t a physical force so yes, he would be frantic with fighting. Riddler has never been a fighter and his riddles worked with those killings since he is that smart. When has Riddler ever been a physical foe for Batman? He is jacked in the Harley Quinn show and ripped in Tom King’s War of Jokes and Riddles, but he isn’t a trained fighter. There’s also not that many great Riddler stories in the comics which writers have discussed since the riddles are so hard to write. It’s why he wasn’t used much in the animated series. Calling him mid is hilarious. He had more in common with the Earth One version as a serial killer setting up traps with his riddles.
The first 40 minutes of Part 1 are so boring and then the ending caused Batman to be completely out of character. He would never let anyone get away with it if he found out the truth. It’s a very bad adaptation.
I'll level with you, as an adaptation of Batman Hush it's like a 5 or 6/10 tops. As a movie all on it's own, it's like an 8.5/10, because I love the Bruce/Selina relationship potrayal so much. They really just shouldn't have called it Hush but it's still a very good movie.
Oh man, that’s such a bad adaptation where the pacing is terrible in Part 1. It’s 40 minutes of being boring and then just becomes a Joker movie. The ending change is truly awful with Batman just letting that character get away with it.
31:18 Numerous people went mad about Hush not being Thomas Elliot like in the comics but, in my opinion, making Hush of Batman's long-established enemies considerably improved the story: Thomas debuted in "Hush" arc, and for the readers he was, for his cool design and strategic skills, merely a harder-than-average new rogue. Riddler, by contrast, had a long history with Batman across multiple pieces of media, that explains a lot more colourfully why he went an extra mile executing a complex revenge scheme like this.
Bruce can never change who he is. Because he knows the day he actually starts playing by Gotham's rules instead of his own. . .is the day the Batman truly falls.
For the Riddler it's an obsession to outsmart Batman and taking whatever means necessary to get back at his rival. The lengths he goes to exacting revenge on Batman in this story is pretty cool. That change up for this story was pretty impressive. Maybe they can do that for the live action "The Batman" sequel as you said. This could be the blueprint they will use for the second installment of the live action film.
No, that would be a terrible way to do the sequel and Riddler had his movie. There will be a different villain used and with Batman’s Rogues’ gallery, it’s just not smart and creative to do that where it’s creatively bankrupt. The change with Hush as a character was completely unnecessary and we already have it set up with the real Hush and referencing an Elliot in The Batman.
Yeah, no thank you on that. They have to explore other villains that tie into the journey of Bruce and Batman. Riddler had his shine. But also Hush’s identity never should’ve been changed. And it winds up pointless for Riddler.
THANKS for this, RR DCAU Reaction No. 21!!! Okay, wow, the day after watching the entire RR DCAU reaction set, I actually get a *new* one!!!! So now I can repeat my requests for the current audience: 1) Justice League: a) New Frontier, b) Crisis on Two Earths and c) Doom; 2) Batman/Superman I and II (Barda, Kara, etc.); 3) "All-Star Superman." And thanks for the very good choice of "Hush." Although I think the original Hush reveal-twist was better, I think it's in the Batman animated-movie Top 10!
Yeah in the comic book Hush is Thomas Elliot. For some reason they made Hush Riddler in this movie. Maybe to surprise comic book readers who knew the mystery? Idk, but in the Hush comic there was a lot of the Bat Family included, but Damian wasn't created yet. Instead it was good old Tim Drake! There's a lot different in this movie, but I still liked it a ton
I freaking loved the Hush comic, and this adaptation was really entertaining, and funny lol. I also just can't get over Batman's 70's Batsuit. It's my favorite suit!
OMG Bruce Thomas did the voice of Batman for the Onstar commercial. Also Tory aka Peyton list is not the voice of Poison Ivy. It's another actress Peyton List who appeared in Smallville as Lucy Lane, Gold Glider in The Flash, Frequency, Fox's Gotham where she played live action Poison Ivy voiced Poison Ivy in this film.
Yea In the Book Its Tom ..... (Tommy grows up to become a gifted surgeon and, out of jealous resentment, allies with the Riddler to ruin Bruce's life upon discovering that he is Batman. Wrapping his face in bandages to conceal his identity, Tommy becomes a manipulative criminal mastermind called "Hush" to seek revenge against his former friend...) But Here They Change it up a Little (Riddler, took on the identity of Hush due to his lack of respect among other villains....Which Is cool in a way...Because He is pretty much a '' C Lister '' Like ''Captain Boomerang '' Is lol... And He would be a Joke to all the Under world Figure's. ) I like Both Story Line's.... This movie is Solid ...Though The Source Material is So good it has a Huge Job to come close too the Book.... ( I like when A Show Or Movie Based on a Book/Novel/Comic or anything...lol. Does The Story Justice and yet Mixes it up enough so that Its Not just Retelling the Same Story Completely . ( Some time's though a IP Is changed all together and thats Not What i mean) I Like that This At it's Core has Most of the Story Beats and Similar Plot thread ...But Changes who Hush End's up Being... Which gave it a little different Feel and also gave it a slightly Different twist. Yet is a Good Story.
So fun fact about this movie this movie was highly controversial. Mostly because not many like the idea that hush was the Riddler. The bigger reason why that wasn't like isn't like oh yeah regular isn't capable of this it's that they basically downplayed and trivialized what hush is. For many people including myself hush was a very good character cuz it was literally Batman's friend. It was the classic story of the tragedy of Caesar your closest friend becomes your most dangerous enemy. Because at the same time What hush is is not an enemy of Batman he's the enemy to Bruce. Hush feels forgotten in uncared-for in unloved thanks to the absence of what he lost him sharing a similar loss to Batman. In the one friend he had he forgot about him he had no one while Bruce had someone in his trying time. But by making it Riddler and basically Riddler whole motivation is that he wants people to respect him. Trivialize what hush represents in all of its complexities. I would say this was disliked as much as when the CW made godspeed a just speedforce Junkie.
Only two things that bothered me in this movie was they changed Killer Croc for Bane for no reason, plus they changed who Hush was, Hush is supposed to Thomas Elliot. When Batman finds Thomas' body in front of Joker, it's actually Clayface pretending to be a dead Thomas Elliot. But instead, Thomas actually does die and Hush was the Riddler for no reason.
I might me in the minority. But I was honestly disappointed by the twist, changing the identity of Hush robs a lot of the emotional impact and story for me.
They left out one of my favorite parts from the comic. Gordon actually has to take a shot at Batman, taking one of his bat ears off, to stop him from beating Joker to death.
The worst part is when you know Batman and Catwoman didn't get the chance to be together again as the Apocalypse war happen and Flash reset the timeline😭
Can I reccomend both Superman vs the Elite and Battle of the Supersons. Both fantastic movies and Superman vs the Elite made me understamd Supermans character when I was a kid.
Anyone remember “The war of jokes and riddles”? They should had done that before they they stopped making movies. Also I think that when riddler started getting taken seriously
Yes!! The return John and Coy!!! Love Hush but wasn’t a fan of what they did with this adaptation. Semi disappointing but watching your reaction is worth seeing it again. Still wish Bruce and Selena could be together in the comics but I doubt they will ever allow it
You're so close to the end of this continuity! Next is Wonder Woman Bloodlines and then Justice League Dark Apokolips War- can't wait to see your reactions to those
I’d been out of the comic game for a while. And I remember loving Jim Lee art in early90s XMen. Then after a decade or more, I saw Hush in a public library. Borrowed it. Loved it. And got back into more modern comics. Batman was always my favorite and by a lot, the most comics I have. Catwoman is always obviously super hot and a great match for Bats. I really enjoyed their relationship in this story. It’s not the same as the comics really. Close. Either way, Hush matters to me. And I’m glad it’s become an important Batman story.
Poison Ivy definitely wasn’t played by Lake Bell. She was voiced by Peyton List who played the final version of Ivy on Gotham. Not to be confused with the younger Peyton List from Disney Channel who actually voiced Batgirl in this movie. So many Peyton List’s. It gets confusing. 😂
As a Batcat stan I can't take all that heartbreak anymore: They're happy: they break up, they're getting married: Batman can't be Batman if he's happy They're happy again: someone dies
Still would love to see y'alls reaction to Batman Beyond Return of the Joker. It was the first Batman movie that I ever saw and was hooked right away, even made me fall in love with Mark Hamills performance as the Joker, and will always be the ideal Joker origin story IMO

It's why Injustice sucks as an animated movie because of all the unnecessary deaths of characters and the creative liberties they made. Even The Killing Joke adaptation was bad because of the Bruce and Barbara sex scene which is gross. I know some people are into that but not me tho. Bruce Timm has got issues...
@@Benji568 I agree with what you say about Hush. But there’s nothing “gross” about Batman and Batgirl. I had no issue with that scene at all. If it bothers you, then skip the prologue. The rest of Killing Joke is great.
@Kevmaster2000 It's a 30 or 40 something billionaire sleeping with a girl in High School or girl gone wild, barely 17 or 18... how more gross can it get? No offence if you're into that kind of stuff but not me. Bruce Timm is trying to shove his sick and twisted shipping down your throat and I hate it. He's been trying to do that since Mystery of the Batwoman since he claimed that he saw sexual tension between the two in the Adam West show, WHICH ISN'T TRUE. He's clearly got an out of control libido, you only have to look up his raunchy sketches of Harley, Joker, Poison Ivy, countless others and even the Batman & Harley Quinn animated movie where she tries to rape Nightwing and farts in the Batmobile.
@mariebourgot4949 Dude, I think Hush is awesome. You're just nitpicky. Just enjoy comic books god damn you.
Right as DC solicited the Batman Hush omnibus too. Nicely timed fellas.
10:43 Bat Kiss of Justice
Coy’s face did exactly like mine when I saw they made the twist with Riddler lmao.
Can’t wait for The Long Halloween reaction. Besides Under the Red Hood, it’s my favorite animated Batman movie
I heard so much about the Hush character, and this movie lived up to the hype. My second favorite animated Batman movie.
Great Reaction Coy and John, Batman and Catwoman are so great together👍
Yeah!!!!! 🤘🤘 Anotha one! We got another dc reaction and btw this is now one of my most favorite dc movies eva
You all’s commentary on any and all Batman movies is top tier comedy 😂💯
Damian saying "cover your drink" is a meta-joke. Damian was conceived when Talia drugs Bruce.
i actually cannot wait for them to do long Halloween its two of my favorites from the newer movies
Oh man, that’s such a bad adaptation where the pacing is terrible in Part 1. It’s 40 minutes of being boring and then just becomes a Joker movie. The ending change is truly awful with Batman just letting that character get away with it.
Coy is such a nerd, it’s adorable I love it 🫶
31:18 Numerous people went mad about Hush not being Thomas Elliot like in the comics but, in my opinion, making Hush of Batman's long-established enemies considerably improved the story: Thomas debuted in "Hush" arc, and for the readers he was, for his cool design and strategic skills, merely a harder-than-average new rogue. Riddler, by contrast, had a long history with Batman across multiple pieces of media, that explains a lot more colourfully why he went an extra mile executing a complex revenge scheme like this.
11:31 Lex saying "don't tell me you and the boy scout switched cities" is such a small but hilarious line
This is the most athletic Scarecrow ever lol😂
I really loved this movie when I first watched it a couple years ago!
"The anchor changed his hair!" Hilarious. Bane watching the news, would be hilarious. Lmao! 🤣🤣
Reel rejects is the only channel I’m so tempted to buy it’s patreon. I want to see the extraction breakdown. Gotdamit
Bruce can never change who he is. Because he knows the day he actually starts playing by Gotham's rules instead of his own. . .is the day the Batman truly falls.
It’s gotta be the bat-shower? @27:30 lol
The bat and the cat have SO MUCH RIZZ TOWARDS EACH OTHER. ITS SO spicy and sweet, I love them so much lmao.
I love you guys reacting to dc animated movies I watch all of em multiple times cause I love these movies
now this is the reaction i’ve been waiting for!! this was peak BatCat content!!!
Wrapping his face in bandages to conceal his identity, Tommy becomes a manipulative criminal mastermind called "Hush" to seek revenge against his former friend...)
But Here They Change it up a Little
(Riddler, took on the identity of Hush due to his lack of respect among other villains....Which Is cool in a way...Because He is pretty much a '' C Lister '' Like ''Captain Boomerang '' Is lol...
And He would be a Joke to all the Under world Figure's. )
I like Both Story Line's....
( Some time's though a IP Is changed all together and thats Not What i mean)
I Like that This At it's Core has Most of the Story Beats and Similar Plot thread ...But Changes who Hush End's up Being...
“Deep down he’s a good person. And Deep down….I’m not!”
Yeah damn cool line
Batman destroyed Riddler at the end effectively verbally killing any impact of the bad twist’s attempt
You guys should watch the Lego Batman movie, that was a blast.
😂😂😂
Only two things that bothered me in this movie was they changed Killer Croc for Bane for no reason, plus they changed who Hush was, Hush is supposed to Thomas Elliot. When Batman finds Thomas' body in front of Joker, it's actually Clayface pretending to be a dead Thomas Elliot. But instead, Thomas actually does die and Hush was the Riddler for no reason.
Thanks to this reaction series, I will never hear the word, "justice" the same way...EVER
JUUUUUUUSSSSSSTICCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEE
"Deep down he's a good person, and deep down I'm not" is one of the hardest Batman lines ever.
John saying, "Fight it master Dickolus." 29:24
I might me in the minority. But I was honestly disappointed by the twist, changing the identity of Hush robs a lot of the emotional impact and story for me.
They left out one of my favorite parts from the comic. Gordon actually has to take a shot at Batman, taking one of his bat ears off, to stop him from beating Joker to death.
that cover your drink line from damian is amazing cuz that’s how he was made 😭
yes...another dc animated movie reaction..instant watched
The worst part is when you know Batman and Catwoman didn't get the chance to be together again as the Apocalypse war happen and Flash reset the timeline😭
We will support you all. Keep up the good work.
You know, David Tennant would rock this version of the Riddler and make him iconic
Thomas Elliott was Hush, and making him the Riddler was silly. In the books later on Tommy actually tries to steal Bruce's identity
Can't wait for the reaction for dark apokolips war
37:23 why the bat and the cat broke up.
My two favorite ones are Moore's 'The Killing Joke' and Azzarello's 'JOKER'. Both blowed my mind...
Yes!! The return John and Coy!!! Love Hush but wasn’t a fan of what they did with this adaptation. Semi disappointing but watching your reaction is worth seeing it again. Still wish Bruce and Selena could be together in the comics but I doubt they will ever allow it
Watch superman vs the elite. It is so good. I think yall two would like it.
There are actually 2 different Peyton Lists in hollywood, and they're both in this movie. The Batgirl and Poison Ivy Peytons are 2 different women.
Probably one of my more favourite new 52 movies but The Long Halloween of the current movies is the best
Finally been waiting for this one!!!
Hush is up there as a favorite, along with War of Jokes and Riddles.
You're so close to the end of this continuity! Next is Wonder Woman Bloodlines and then Justice League Dark Apokolips War- can't wait to see your reactions to those
Coy has an amazing smile 😍😁. I also didn't mind this film in this new 52 animated universe
First time being early should probably go to bed
I’d been out of the comic game for a while. And I remember loving Jim Lee art in early90s XMen. Then after a decade or more, I saw Hush in a public library. Borrowed it. Loved it. And got back into more modern comics. Batman was always my favorite and by a lot, the most comics I have. Catwoman is always obviously super hot and a great match for Bats. I really enjoyed their relationship in this story. It’s not the same as the comics really. Close. Either way, Hush matters to me. And I’m glad it’s become an important Batman story.
Hush batman hush...
If this new version of Batman has the Bat Family Im so excited to see Nightwing and his relationships with Bruce and Damien.
As a Batcat stan I can't take all that heartbreak anymore: They're happy: they break up, they're getting married: Batman can't be Batman if he's happy
They're happy again: someone dies
They did change some key things to try and preserve the surprise element the original comic had
Coy is just the best 😂
Lois lane must fart laughing gas or something, the crap Superman snaps out of to save her on so many occasions lol
Your both right, it is the doctor who's Bruce's friend in the comics, Dr Elliot... Just fyi, they change it up quite a bit in this
Closing in on the end. Only 2 more left of this universe
Damiyan just trynna protect his inheritance.
Still would love to see y'alls reaction to Batman Beyond Return of the Joker. It was the first Batman movie that I ever saw and was hooked right away, even made me fall in love with Mark Hamills performance as the Joker, and will always be the ideal Joker origin story IMO
My Favorite Batman Comic gotta be The Killing Joke
Batman Upper cutting superman, huge splash panel in the Hush comic, my favorite splash panel of all time.
