"Everything will be different in the morning." A very powerful and subtle statement. Malcolm realizes that he's been haunting his wife, not letting her move on.
So subtle i never really thought about him “haunting” her but low key i knew what he meant that everything will be different as is in his presence will be gone, never thought of it as him being there being the reason she kept watching the video. I thought of a wife in mourning
The Usual Suspect begs to differ. :) The 90's were full of movies with great twist endings, like Primar Fear. But this one CLEARLY is of the great ones, for sure.
Hela genuinely empathises more than anyone else in the reacting game I've seen. I remember The Truman Show had her crying with anger for pretty much the entire second half at how unfair Trumans life is
Every one of those reactors reaction when they realized the twist is wonderful. The fact that so many of them forgot to speak when they realized what was going on is a testimony to the power of this film.
@@ClockworkDave And he was great in the Saw films as well. Very underrated actor. I remember being so surprised seeing him in The Sixth Sense & Dreamcatcher.
Why the "twist" works so well: Because the story is told THROUGH the eyes of Malcolm helping "one more child" in hopes of redeeming himself for the failure of the 1st child that had grown older. But in truth, it isn't Malcolm that is helping the kid, it is the kid HELPING MALCOLM. By 1) actually being helped through his issue of seeing the dead, and 2) by redeeming Malcolm not just professionally but PERSONALLY as well. So when the twist DOES happen, it is Malcolm who realizes that he is holding Ann back from moving on with her life, and that he not only helps the kid, but HER as well, when Malcolm accepts his fate and says his farewell to Ann.
Well I think it's fair to say they helped each other. Cole absolutely did help Malcolm. At first he was terrified of him, the scene in the church where he's hiding, then he realizes he doesn't have to fear him (You're nice but you can't help me), then he realizes what Malcolm needs (Tell me why you're sad) then he learns to help ghosts move on and says goodbye to Malcolm after he tells him what to do. Of course Malcolm had two things to do -- make up for his misstep with Vincent and then repair his marriage/death... it's truly ingenious the way the story twists and yes it works because we accept the obvious explanations..
I LOVED Showing my friends this Movie, M. Night Shyamalan's Magnum Opis, their faces at the end of the movie were in utter-shock, one of the BEST ever twist ending to any movie ever!!!
1971. When Mom learned she was pregnant with me, she cried. Her father died just weeks before. She said to her mother, "daddy wil never see his first grandchild" Grandma Pat said, "He has already" and told her a dream she had. She rose up in bed, after losing her husband, seeing him in the door calling to her to join him. She stood to go to him, but a child blocked her and held her nightgown. As the story was told, it was me letting grandma know she couldn't go. I was the first of 13 more grandchildren her life would touch deeply.
One interesting thing I noticed about all these reactions (and others not in this video). All of the reactors that are married immediately realize the ring Anna drops on the ground is Malcoms because there's nothing on it. Meanwhile the reactors that aren't married initially think it's her own ring she's dropping.
Perfect example of the difference between men and women. The guys minds are blown a d they are wrapped up in "holy fu*k, he was dead" and women are sad for them and start crying. This was an awesome flick and caught everyone by surprise when it came out.
But I have to say there have been very few spoilers over twenty-plus years. I saw it in the theaters almost at the very end of the run and no one had told me.
I watched this movie for the first time with my brother and i'll never forget how we freaked out and grabbed each other's arms in shock lol. The thrill of watching this scene for the first time is one of the best movie experiences i've ever had and one of my favorite memories of the time when this movie came out, absolute masterpiece.
Malcolm: "... I just needed to take care of a COUPLE(!) of things..." 1. Help a child like to he one he couldn't previously protect... Parallels the poisoned little girl who had a little sister to protect from their mom. 2. Help his wife find peace and let go. I honestly never got the whole 'Next Spielberg' thing, if anything, he always felt more like Hitchcock to me especially with the small cameos, twists & overall tone in his films, even Signs felt more like a Hitchcock thing than a Spielberg thing. Both Hitchcock & Shyamalan were always having small cameos in their films, Spielberg never did that stuff.
@@amyg4961 One of the reasons The Village was so good is because virtually all parents still do the same things to their children, just not on the scope of the parents in the movie. It reminds me of the old saying, "What we fear, we hate, what we hate, we try to destroy, and in destroying it, we destroy the possibility of finding the weakness in us that was so fearful." That saying doesn't apply to everything that we might fear, but it does apply to many things we fear. Destroying a snake that has you cornered is productive. Destroying our opportunities because we fear change is unproductive.
He was the best dead ghost ever not only he stuck around when he was dead with his wife but he helped the kid who was seen ghosts and he's going to do better when he grows up That's a good dad goes right there to him
The true tragedy here is Bruce Willis was diagnosed a few years ago with Frontotemporal Dementia and probably doesn't even remember he was an actor, never mind that he starred in this movie. Dementia is probably the most horrible way to die - with your own sense of "self" slowly stripped away and there's nothing you can do about it. Bruce is now living in his own personal horror movie where the ending is already known.
Thankfully, as one with dementia withers away, so does their sense of what they're going through. Much more sympathy should be felt for the loved ones than the sufferer because they are the ones who fully realize the implications of the disease as it is happening, and they have to witness the loss of a loved one slowly losing their character, emotions, and affection for family members with each passing day. Our family had to watch my wife's mother and father die 22 years apart, with both having dementia that had gone on for years. Neither her father nor mother were even close to being in sadness and pain as much as all of us watching it happen for so long. The one with dementia doesn't struggle near as much as the family in trying to make sense of it all because they are also losing the sense of who they are relative to the family. One of the lessons that always seems to be very prevalent with those who watch their parents wither away with dementia is that they wish they had conveyed their love and affection more when the person still had more of their mind to be able to feel and reciprocate that love. Of all the regrets a person can feel, the regret of not communicating more with our loved ones when we had the chance, is in my opinion, the severest of all regrets, but is seldom realized until it dawns on the person that their loved one is unable to feel and return that love as they used to.
It breaks my heart what he and his family are going through. A similar thing happened to Robin Williams and that’s why he chose to make his final bow when he did. I totally understand making that decision. That slow loss of yourself is more frightening than anything else.
my favorite twist is the director's cut of "forrest gump", when forrest joins john rambo to wage war on canada. they had it comin', those hockey playin, maple syrup chuggin basturds. anyway, that twist when forrest starts speaking like a british scholar & peels off his fake face to reveal his true identity, that was the best!

Men should be able to express their feelings in anyway they need to be without fear that another person will judge them.

One thing, a detail that I really like is how he isn't wearing his wedding ring. See, wedding vows are 'til death does us part' so after he died, they weren't married anymore hence the ring not being on his hand. I didn't get that for a long time and wondered what the deal with that was. I felt dumb after I figured it out.

Thank you Octakrool for reacting like I did when I first saw this movie when it came out. There was something about that restaurant scene that didn't sit right with me. Movie theatrics aside. Anyone that thinks someone who lost their spouse less than a year could just move on is a complete idiot. Been there, done that, and it was a while to "just move on".
It might have given her some comfort to still feel her husband presence there, to be in familiar surroundings while she grieved his loss. She did keep watching the wedding videos, she was not ready to move on until after Malcolm told her to in her sleep.

He might have made it to a hospital but the shot could easily have been fatal anyway. A perforated intestine can result in septicemia and death days later. (My mom died of a perforated intestine and she seemed to be fairly well for days...until she wasn't.)

I love how a lot of these people very clearly know the ending and are just pretending to be shocked for the sake of a stupid reaction video.
The first guy reacting was fake as hell. I’ve always been skeptical about these “first time” reaction videos. Dude is doing too much and exposing the hustle
This movie so was obvious to me. I was shocked at all the audience members who were shocked. It was so very obvious!
Did you have a big old orgasm when you figured it out before everyone else?? Ditz!
Yeah, you're so smart huh? Liar liar pants on fire 🔥😁🤣
Oh my god. I fast forward through all of the annoying crying
That first reaction was soooooooo fake.
Yep. He definitely was over the top. They should not have included him in this compilation. Makes the whole reaction thing look suspect
I watch alot of his reactions just to confirm my suspicions and I'd bet money he watches the movie before he creates a reaction. He's a fake.
Where he was shot, you could live for a few days but it would be an agonizing death. Plenty of time to get to a hospital.
He might have made it to a hospital but the shot could easily have been fatal anyway. A perforated intestine can result in septicemia and death days later. (My mom died of a perforated intestine and she seemed to be fairly well for days...until she wasn't.)
First dude was sooo fake
oh gee..channels that need clicks all happened to never know the sixth sense ending? Even my grandma knew it and she never saw the film. It's been mentioned so many times in popular media that you would have to live in a cave with no knowledge of the outside world to not know this spoiler. And it's ALWAYS the same reaction people. Give me a break
I knew the twist because I saw it in the theater at the end of its run. But it stopped running 24 years ago. So I would not be surprised that MANY people have heard little or nothing about the story.
This movie was eons ago and many people don’t watch older films.
I can’t believe all the ridiculous people crying over a movie 🙄
These are reactions acted by actors, fake fake fake
You get on and have a go then, lets see if you can do better, you basement dwelling spotty herbert!
You're bad at commenting on videos. You should give it up.
Different people react very differently to things.
If you think everybody you see is fake, then there is a high probability that you are the one faking.
Or you are really bad with reading expressions.
TheBigdan
Nope!
The reactions are real. 🤨
I don´t know if you have a bad sight, and need glasses, but half of them was even tearing up, and you don´t fake up tears that easy... 🙄
You probably think Malcolm was shot out of sequence.
I don't believe 'Evie' got it......damn......
