I believe that the way output select works is it adapts the cab sim to make sense with your output. If cab sim is off, then the output select does not matter. That's how it is on the GT1000. So in theory the proper way to do it is set the ME-90 output to "Katana Return" then put it into the Katana Return, not the power-amp in and leave the Cab-sim switch on.
There's definitely missing the cab sim "totally" off In tone studio on this one, hope they update that. I did the output to the Katana Return on the ME-90 but not on the Katana itself. But the tone is basically the same. You should turn off the cab sim both in the return and power amp in, it's the same. Some people like to have the cab sim on, but makes little sense because you end up with two cabs. Cheers
I believe Boss/Roland specifically suggest running the ME-90 into the Powered Amp Input on the Katana and selecting the Line position instead of Amp at least when using the ME-90's Preamps.
2:06 Starting around 2:06 there is a piercing high-frequency artifact that can be heard between the strumming and muting of the strings. It lasts until at least 2:41.
I run mine into the effects return of an Orange 35RT with the switch set to amp NOT Line. You need to EQ each amp model separately, not just run them all at noon. I have discovered that the post pre amp eq section works great for eq ing the amp models. I typically set the tone knobs within the preamp with the mid range at noon, bass at 10 o’clock and treble at 2 o’clock, and then I fine-tune the tone with the EQ section.
It sounds smoother and less harsh with the cab sim on....I only ever use the line/record output option into any power amp (with cab sim off) on the GX100 and it's the closest to the true bypass tone, so it's down to personal choice really I suppose.
Thanks--We always learn sumthin' from you,Hombre Nery. You Rock! We have one of these but prefer our GT-1 ran into our Katana power amps in stereo( 2 mkII heads...best investment ever). We can hear the same odd high frequency thing too that's being commented on. We have to re-EQ our patches for our Les Pauls vs our Strats. Same patches but duplicated w EQ changes per pup differences. Cheers
Great video as always ! Thanks Juca ! How does the ME 90 compare to the Katana itself tone wise ? Since you've tried the ME 90 and you're obviously the katana expert do you think the ME 90 is worth the purchase for katana owners to expand the tonal range one can get from the Katana alone ? Thanks !
@@tommywallberg you’re right. I own too much gear and I can’t justify spending a ton of $ for pedal effects. Hello Is there a video that explains how to install version 1.03? I did not succeed after two hours. At some point it tells me that there is not enough space on the ME.
I also connect my mooer GE to the katana power amp in and use cab sim on. When I change the mic type with cab sim on, it feels like I am canceling the mic characteristics. it feels similar to the feeling of changing the cabinet type on the katana. (I think the mic cancellation works better when using a small 1x12 or 2x12 cab sim instead of a 4x12 cab)
The wonderful phenomenon of microphone cancellation may possibly be a mooer GE-only phenomenon: changing the microphone in Amplitube 5 changed the characteristics of the microphone….
