I’ve been watching your reviews for about a year. I wanted to say good job! You avoid every annoying YT trope and just focus on the actual figures. You’re fair, descriptive, and knowledgeable. And you don’t annoy us with silly catch phrases and 45 second intros. Please never change a thing and keep going. You’re great.
Dude thank you so much for that. I do this for fun and love comments like this. This is honestly what keeps me going. I don’t have much in terms of editing skills but I love that the simplicity is appreciated!
I personally love mine. No problems with the heat wire connection on mine. The little cover came out easily. And I actually, like the forearm peg as it provides a very secure connection and 99% of the time you are going to be posing the figure with weapons attached anyway, so you won't even see it. I love the sculpt of the figure. Articulation is good enough, nothing is lose and nothing falls off easily, apart from head antenna sometimes when you touch it.
I love your reviews man. Got my first Robot Spirits Ez8 the other day and I love it. I was skeptical about these since I customize model kits but wow these are super clean , well made and a nice break from customizing kits. Definitely need a GOUF to pair with Ez8. I recommend collects atlease get a few of their favorites to display, this line is just that good. Nice joints, nothing falls off and everything is flush from the weapon in hand to the effects with just pop.
Other than the kampfer the gouf custome is my favorite Zeon mobile suit for its looks and its menacing style plus the weaponry of both I would definitely drop some money on this kit and the kampfer
I love the locking mechanism under the HG's armpit that makes the arm impossible to droop when holding the Gatling Gun, and shield combo. They really should have added that feature, especially with the added weight from the effect piece. I also like the clear canopy on the cockpit better on the HG
I’m still interested in getting the figure because the figure itself looks so good. The arm doesn’t bother me too much since I’ll probably have the weaponry attached anyway. The only thing holding me back is, whether if I should get this, or wait for the flight type… If we do get the flight type, I suspect it’s most likely going to be a PB release that will cost a fortune, so maybe I should get this ha
The Gouf Custom is my all time favorite Zeon mobile suit. Cool design, great weapons, and can give Gundams a run for their money because of their ace pilots.
As usual, very concise review of the Gouf Custom, this is the most favorite Gouf design that I liked as a melee MS, it is also equipped with a gatling machine gun for that "heavy fire" support element 💪. On the other hand, as a Ver Anime, I am a bit underwhelmed by the shoulder articulation, they could have made the shoulder joints much like the old HG Gouf Custom model kit whereby you flip out the shoulder spike armour and then allow the shoulder to lift up higher, what a bummer.
So I have the Og gouf custom, with the hard point system, which is annoying but I like the figure a lot, any reason I should buy this one to replace that one? Or is the Og overall the better fig?
This one is better by far if you aren’t too fond of the hard point system of the other one. The sculpt on this one is worlds better and the weaponry doesn’t fall apart so easily
Sorry to hear that the heat rod cover adapter that you tried to remove was broken, have you considered getting a small manual hand drill to drill a hole in the Gouf Custom'S right wrist so that you could insert the heat rod's peg into the Gouf right hand wrist? Just my 2 cents 😉
I think the only major gripe I see having with this figure myself is just how you ended up breaking the heat wire, everything else I can pretty much tolerate since it's not that different from the HGUC model. That said I missed the pre-order window and I already have the old RD figure so I think I'll wait until I'm more financially stable to pick this one up.
All I did was pry it off with my nail. Sometimes parts on these figures take a bit of force to remove and this one just couldn’t handle the force I guess
I still want to pick one up. I'm a bit bummed about the left arm but I would like to pose it with some alternative weaponry and will likely leave the 3 barrel on the left arm as it's a unique weapon. I have an HG Dom Tropen that I attached the 3 barrel to, and then a GM shield as a battlefield prize.
Recently just got this one and I’m having trouble with the Gatling shield weapon. I have no idea how to arm the GOUF with it specially since I can’t find the swivel handle or anything else like that. Sorry for asking so often recently because of my blindness
It’s no problem! So you’ll want to just attach the 3-barrel machine gun to the arm first and there’s a hardpoint on the top rear part of it. You’ll take the Gatling Shield and attach it to that hardpoint on the 3-Barrel Machine Gun. From there, there is a handle more towards the front of the Shield that the Gouf can hold onto
So I caved and took it to my father, and apparently I am missing a piece to the Gatling shield, so that explains why I’m having such a pain trying to assemble it. Thank you for your patience and help,
Amazing timing with the vid since I just picked it up from Yellow Submarine for 7700 a few hours ago (still in box). Sorry to see about the broken piece and other disappointing aspects, they were valid complaints. Just the Ez8 and Options part set 3 to finally wrap up the 08th MS Team line. Wonder what the next series will be?
@@Stealth639 The Guntank already came out as a special order. Was there news about it being available for retail? I didnt see anything about the GM sniper or Gouf Flight type, has that been confirmed?
I CANT GET OVER HOW AWMAZING THE GOUF FLIGHT TYPE LOOKS. how can I get it? And every website seems already sold out of the 08th ms team gm sniper ? Any ideas
I really appreciate the review, thank you. Before I saw your heat wire tip broke, I was wondering if the closed end that's attached the Gouf is meant to swap out with the open end so you can have both versions? Also, regarding the shield attachment, it is a bummer it can't be mounted without the top bracket. However, my opinion it's an anime oversight that the bracket is missing after he drops the Gatling gun. First, I don't see a benefit to ejecting the top bracket for combat. It's where the sword is stored, so you would lose that option. And second, if you watch the scene where he ejects the Gatling gun, that part is noticeably absent and never shown being discarded. It was there in the previous scene and then it just vanished without any indication where it went. So those are my thoughts to support a possible animation error being responsible.
Maybe you can use a hand drill to remove the peg that's stuck.. I had similar things happened to me once, and that's how I ended up getting rid of the broken peg
I'm torn. Don't get me wrong I'm still going to buy it. But out of the original release, the HG, and this one. None of them are perfect. All 3 figures do some things right, and wrong imo. Great review tho, can't wait to get mine.
The old RD had all those crazy hardpoint features... glad those aren't weighing this down. But they "improved" in some of the wrong ways, too. That wire setup is unforgiveable. They encourage posing and a play-pattern with the option parts... and make that option part so fiddly and fragile, you're discouraged from using it. That's sad.
@@twraia Hardpoints were a selling gimmick on older Robot Spirits figures that were connection points for weapons and accessories. So the arms, skirt armor, backpack, etc had all these connection points. The problem was, they went crazy with it and put connection points in the knees, shoulders, and other weird useless spots.
Yeah this is nearly a perfect release but yeah it has two glaring issues to me as well and that’s the Shield thing (like why not add a second connection point???), and the fact that it doesn’t come with an alternate, shorter cable. I didn’t have the arm peg issue, mine popped out easily, but it is just a stupid design. I can live with the arm peg because I’ll probably never have the arm bare really and the magazine being removable is always just a bonus to me and not something I care too much about. I’m annoyed by the fact that it doesn’t have a heated blade but that’s just another fault of this line where it is strictly ANIME accurate in the most literal sense. Few figures have been perfect to me so this is par for the course, overall I love it.
See, but ver ANIME doesn’t always stick to anime accuracy for weapons. Gato’s Gelgoog cam with that massive Beam Rifle so they could have given us a heated blade at the very least
This suit single handily took on three gundams and three guntanks by itself! Ramba would be proud.
Fun fact--in English dubs for Movie I and II, Ramba is voiced by Norris' voice actor!
