You aren't the only one, Kyle. In my youth, I couldn't bare to wait for the newest game. Nowadays, new games are coming too fast for me to keep up! Life is just way busier and more expensive as you age.
There's more games coming out too ! People who grew up playing video games are making their own, there's indie devs left and right and the release calendars are much more packed. It's way easier to get lost in the shuffle of everything there is, since there's always something or other to play

I remember when I was a teenager waiting for Halo Reach to release. That to me, was the longest wait ever, nothing has felt like that wait. I guess as much as I anticipate new games now, I dont feel like I am waiting on the edge of my seat haha.
There's a larger theme here at play of the passage of time which seems to speed up as you get older. As kids the wait seems unbearable because we don't have much else going on besides school and because of our short time on Earth. The older you get the more days seem to pass by quicker because you've been through more of them. Of course add in the instant gratification of modern technology and constant bombardment of pop culture and even the 5 year wait in between sequels doesn't seem long. Back in the PS2 days studios would put out entire trilogies and then some in under 5 years.
We are inundated with content these days. I have so much to play and watch that I just go with the flow and don't really care about the waiting period or anticipation period. There is rarely one piece of content that I'm eager to experience for months at a time until it releases. What's funny is that even stuff that I highly anticipate goes on the back burner because I'm already satiated by everything that I'm catching up on. We live in a saturated world.
