So this week Mrs.O. did make us Beef on weck or in our case venison on weck and man was it awesome! I retained water for two days after that sodium uptake haha If you want to know what they are or how they are made check this out ---> th-cam.com/video/nL2lxXhVIRk/w-d-xo.html What are your thoughts?
Beef on Weck come on, you’re killing me, I sure do miss the food from Buffalo New York area. Haven’t been back there for years, I live in Oregon now, the food is just not the same as back east
Here in Canada we call that a Beef Dip, though ours uses a hoagie bun. I imagine the taste is quite similar. By that I mean the salt! HaHaHa! Have a great day, Mr and Mrs O! o7
I am from Western part of Germany: Just to let Mrs O know that you find numerous regional names for buns/sandwich in Germany, which sound totally different such as "Brötchen", "Semmel" or "Schrippe". Coming back to your question: there is a "Wecken" or "Weckle" in the very South-West of Germany, and I guess that the immigrant who brought this to NY state is from that region. You're right: they usually put salt and ten ("Kümmel") on it. Of course it is not only name that's different but taste, shape ... It is a craft in German to make bread and buns every day fresh. Tough job. They get up at 3.00 a.m. every day.
first brake job I watched where I was starving for pan fried scallops, jasmine mushroom rice, blackened salmon and tiramisu for dessert by the end. . What a channel !!
Mrs. O. really needs to start a food channel. Every thing sounds great. I got non removable dentures and lettuce is the worst. your speech is getting better. Videos that don't go as plan are usually the best. Thanks for all your time and hard work that goes in on these.
As a former resident of both Buffalo and Syracuse I am very familiar with both Beef on Weck and Salt Potatoes. And we must not forget Genesee Cream Ale to go with these treats! Always enjoy your videos, forget how tough it was to work on cars back in New York State. No rust problems here in Arizona but no Beef on Weck or GCA either!
Loved another Sunday afternoon video with you Mr. O! And I’m so glad that Mrs. O is never a pushover. You two make a great team! You don’t have to listen long to discover how sharp Mrs. O is and how you always mix very intelligent mechanics skills with a high standard of integrity. I’ve lived a long time and have discovered the universal law of sowing and reaping. The goodness you and Mrs. O are sowing is providing a great future for you!
I love this Mr O and Mrs O you talkin about your dinners and your lunches while you are doing a brake caliper work , this can only happen at South Main Auto , this is fantastic .
Eric, All you have to say is "you decide dear, anything you make is always fine with me." That's worked for me for the last forty years - by now she's figured out what I actually do and do not like.
I think this was an excellent video. For we who have watched your brake job videos in the past, we know what you''re doing, but this time you're doing everything with almost pure muscle memory since you're distracted with the menu discussion. The muscle memory displayed as you grease and loctite the parts of the breaks shows subtle technique nuances we don't usually see when you're actively demonstrating a process. Most specifically, the way that you applied and spread out the loctite on the bolts this time was more instructive to me than in your other videos. Instead of thinking about how you do it, you were just doing it. Sometimes just being able to watch an expert do something is more instructive than any explanation they might provide.
Nice hint on the brake cleaner to avoid winding the boot when compressing the piston. I had that issue from time to time on a Volvo, and wish I'd thought of this.
I must say 20 + years with the same person, that is a great thing. My wife and I have been married for 24+ years and would not change a thing either. Congratulations
In a small town you can spend time doing the important things in life. Loving a good wife and having happy kids with a beautiful family life. Oh the good old days. Nice to see the good old family values are thriving. Bravo.
Eric you are a lucky dude to have the lovely, talented Mrs O. I would work there for free just for the vittles. Always a pleasure to see you two together ❤️.
We are our own worst critics. The food conversation with Mrs. O was a nice addition to this video; certainly not the worst in my mind. Your speaking is improving, hang in there. I have to agree, make sure you’re right with the Lord! Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
Stop by for a brake job and learn about another PRNY local food! Love it! The chemistry these two people have is amazing! I just had supper and after hearing all these foods, I need a snack. Keep up the videos! I've learned a lot and just love watching!
Beef on Weck with some melted cheese, mmmm. Lived in Western NY growing up and listening to you talk about salt potatoes and beef on weck brought back some great memories. The local American Legion put on meals featuring that exact menu.
I grew up on the outskirts of Buffalo so I have been involved with Weck for 60 yrs. Weck is a hard roll ( crusty outside, soft inside)baked with large grain salt. piled high with tender beef dipped in liquid made of the cooking juices and fortified with " Gravy Maker". I worked in a restaurant when I was a kid so I know a few secrets. Experienced beefers never put cheese on it. Ground horseradish is the best. Not that creamy sauce style. Kids like catsup. some like it wet with the roll dipped also. The new version of weck is with caraway seeds in top of the roll. Not my choice. They are cheap with the beef now-a-days. I have 2 favorite channels that I watch and yours is one of them. Keep it up!
I'm sorry but how was this the "most worst" video? This was awesome... and real. Not like some channels that make everything look effortless, verses the cussing, everything putting up a fight after someone torqued the ever living snot out of something that should have been 80ft pounds. Or a day where everything winds up Butterfield down on the floor. You and Mrs. O are honest and genuine, down to earth, humble wonderful people. Thank you for another wonderful video with a guest appearance of the awesome Mrs. O. Much love n prayers from the upstate region of the PRNY.🙏💜
Enjoy what you like to eat now. Once you are in your mid seventies, like me, you won’t have any regrets about denying yourself life’s little pleasures. If we only ate what was good for us life would be pretty boring. I still eat like I was 17, and have no regrets. Your videos always leaves me smiling. 😊
This video wasn't a flop. We learnt how to do the rear brakes on a Ford Taurus AND what your menu is for the next week! I haven't seen that on any TH-cam channel before 👍.
For about a year, I lived in Rochester on business. Hearing you talk about beef on weck sure brings back great memories! Obviously cant get weck rolls here in CT. My Rochester friends loved introducing me to a lot of the foods from western NY. Garbage Plate and White Hots were favorites.
😋I swear if Mrs O set up a Cafe there I would be lined up 6am in the morning to catch the lunch menu, see the lunches she prepares there and I start drooling 🤤 look so tasty 😋
Wow, nice video, i love the back stories and discussions you and the beautiful Mrs O have. ❤ great job on the brakes as well! Lol thank you for all you do! Love from AZ ❤
Great video! Eric awesome video. Yes have Mrs. O get some shaved thin slice beef hoagie bun. Cook the sliced beef put on bun. Get beef stock, sweet onions, garlic. Cook in pot onions little garlic., little bit pink salt in olive oil. Cook till onions are translucent. Add beef stock Cook till warm, and use it as dip for your sandwich. Also get lobster tail , hogie bun little mayo, salt, pepper, fresh lemon. Cook lobster tail, pull meat out, add salt, pepper, fresh lemon juice, fresh cut up celery, chive mix together for fresh lobster roll. I love seafood with lent coming I make so many seafood dishes for my family during lent. Godbless you and Mrs. O and your beautiful family. Love the end about getting right with the Lord! Godbless you and thank you for being an amazing mechanic I have learned alot from you as a diy me mechanic.
Thank you for all the information that you share, happy to see that some people still do not mind helping and sharing information to help others without expectation. You and Ivan really made me want to go back to be a mechanic, lol. Really enjoy your videos. Thanks again.
Eric O your living the dream we all need a wife like Mrs O. I’m happy to have ham and cheese sandwich for lunch at work and your over here eating scallops and risotto lol 😂 keep up the hard work 👍 ( watching from over the pond )
Hey is this the mechanic show or the cooking show between you and mrs. Oh you're both making me so damn hungry 😂😂😂 I love you videos please don't ever stop making them 😁👍🇺🇸💪✌️
If you are right with the Lord, pretty much everything else will take care of itself. Your conversation about lunch menus has got me wanting some lobster bisque. Thanks for the video!
When I was spinning wrenches for a living I was always puzzled at the way my fellow mechanics would discuss at length the various fluids and fuels they put into their machines while giving no thought at all to what they were putting into their bodies. Engines can be easily rebuilt, unlike the human body.
Eric - Glad to hear you are not afraid of saying to be right with the Lord. Good for you. As an Upstater in the PRNY, the salt potato is a staple of every cook out and BBQ in the summer. Lastly, the salt on that car. It's so bad now on the cars and on the roads. With the bitter cold this weekend and low humidity, there is no moisture in the salt and it looks everything has been painted white.
we love the interaction between you 2.. maybe i should show this video to my wife lol she loves you guys as well ,, maybe then after 30 years we can answer that age old question as to what's for dinner hahahah
Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved"
Alright Eric just listening to the lunch choices may I suggest Mrs. O get Gordon Ramsay to do a guest spot while Gordon shows her how to make Scallops and Risotto for your lunch 😁
Homemade shrimp and scallop alfredo is honestly REALLY GOOD!!! I've made it from scratch for my wife and daughter with raving reviews. Have Mrs O make it sometime, you will not be disappointed.
I had to share your conversation with my wife. We both thought it was hilarious. My wife is also an excellent cook and we have had many similar conversations.
You're a lucky man Eric! I once had a bride who asked my input for meals. In fact we used to go grocery shopping every week together. She was the E in S&E auto, Eileen, sadly after 37 yrs. of marriage she went to be with the Lord. Miss her badly bro! Cherish every moment. you've got a great one there.
Mrs O is a real gem making your requested meals. one of the farm wives when I was a kid made "Slug". it was what ever she had. you got that and were lucky.
Always interesting to see brake jobs :) Do you ever need to re-adjust the parking brake cable or mechanism if you replace rotors and pads? This car seems to have similar rear disc brakes than my '16 Kia Rio Hatchback, parking brake mechanism integrated to the caliper / piston, so I'm just curious.
@@mattmanyam Yes, but saw some service info about Kia Rio rear brakes, which talked about re-adjusting the parking brake cable after replacing for example rear brake discs. There was stated that there should be max 1,5mm gap between parking brake lever and stopper at the caliper end. So this made me curious about if this is usually necessary or not.
It's very rare that you need to adjust the cable on this type of parking brake. You just check that it moves and returns freely, and that it returns fully to the stop. All the adjustment is taken care of by the internal mechanism, which is what you are resetting when you wind the piston in.
This was the best brake job ever. The real life commentary between you and the misses just made it awesome. Also you must have better grocery stores than we do in Western Kansas.
Grew up in Auburn NY...just west of Syracuse. 20 years in military been around the states and globe...no one knows what salt potatoes are, really surprises me!...they are so good. I never heard of beef on weck tho....have to try it! Google recipies here I come!
@Trey Cook you can always turn the comments off. But not sure as to why anyone would give her rude comments. But then again, it is humanity and I really have no faith in it anymore.
@@bearing_aficionado Most of the comments are fine; wholesome and even helpful. Comments help drive traffic to the video and channel, so turning them off would suck. I know you know all that. I just hate that some people have to comment those types of things. We all know she's pretty, but she shouldn't have to be concerned about what she wears to work, ya know?
@Jay Judd yeah I remember he did that, I was going to watch that but completely forgot about it. In fact I was looking into that barrel he was using and they sell it at Home Depot. But I wasn't going to spend that kind of money on it.
Well, I'm from the South. We don't have to deal much with rust on our vehicles and for lunch we have cornbread, fried okra, collard greens and fried chicken. My grandmother's (God rest her soul) fried okra was AWESOME. She grew up on a farm in Tenn and could cook like nobody else.
Just wanted to say, just from watching your videos I've changed up how I do brakes, I did everything you do when it comes to lubrication and such, BUT I used to always just fire in the caliper bracket bolts and just wrench slide pin bolts with a ratchet until gutentite. I feel a genuine difference in my own mind now by just torquing to spec and rolling with it, don't know why but it just feels more fulfilling even if it takes an extra minute to find torque specs. Keep up the great work Eric!
Hey Eric, just so ya know... We don't really care what the car is you're fixin, as long as it's you fixin it... We come here to gleam your knowledge and wisdom, visit Mrs. O and the pups, and to imagine we are a part of your day. To be honest, you could be sweeping the floors and we'd all probably watch. Of course, there are some who would tell ya you're sweeping it wrong, but we can all ignore those folks and enjoy the time we share with ya... Thanks, Eric. We appreciate ya!
Salt is bad for you if you have high blood pressure or kidney disease, cholesterol is bad for you if you have high cholesterol. If you have a mixed diet meat, or salty foods, or fried foods shouldn't have an effect on your health. A steady diet of any of these things can and will kill you. Great video in that it shows that a discussion of food goes on at the work place, not just work. Also shows how to lube up a brake caliper. Very nice video. Keep 'em comin'!

Can mrs o start a TH-cam cooking channel?

You Germans, always busy throwing things into the oven.
You are not wrong but you just missed a nice -b- pun: Dough job.
Spending time in Mannheim, nothing like fresh bread from the bakery in early morning !! Fresh Brötchen... 😀
I searched “Taurus” and this came up. Reminds me of, “Ford Taurus pull up, everybody run!” Song By Jeezy lol 😂
OMG Eric O! This is sooooo not the "worst video". It's excellent! The story of you and Mrs O is for sure a sub plot to the videos. We love it!
Roll on 😂🤙🏻😎
concur - I learn something every video and also enjoy watching the interaction between Mr. & Mrs. O. Hope they never tire of putting the videos up.
Agreed. It's all part of the fun and why we come here! Keep it up. You two are like a celebrity couple.
Well said

@@grandmasmalibu Maybe South Main Kitchen. Edibles takes your mind in a couple directions Eric and Mrs.O might NOT want it to go. lol!
How about "The South Main Diner"?
@@grandmasmalibu edibles isn’t sandwiches….. unless Eric is growing something different in those food plots and it’s not for the deer… ;)
Yes 100% with Mr O being the sous chef. That would be glorious.
What is causing the speech issues?.
I watched not for another brake video but for the Mrs. O content. She is a keeper Eric.
As a former resident of both Buffalo and Syracuse I am very familiar with both Beef on Weck and Salt Potatoes. And we must not forget Genesee Cream Ale to go with these treats! A Sunday afternoon brake vid w/ Dr O, never gets old.
Loved another Sunday afternoon video with you Mr. O! And I’m so glad that Mrs. O is never a pushover. You two make a great team! At 3:55 "this one's winding up a little bit, let me show you." That! is why I keep coming back and watching SMA.
The only guy on you tube the does a brake job and makes us hungry. Nice job Mr. O!
HEY! Happy Sunday everybody and thumbs UP to Eric and Mrs. O!!
They really are charming. Okay, okay, Eric, you're not charming.
I wasn’t expecting a Ford Taurus brake job video to make me hungry. You said this video might be your worst, but it might be my favorite 😂
You are a very fortunate man. You and Mrs. O. Are made for each other. May you both live long and happy together.
Even we guys from Southern Ontario....know Beef on Weck!! Grew up an hour from Buffalo. Great video...made me hungry.
I feel you'd be happy if Mrs O made seven different kinds of high class burger a week. Good video - I enjoyed the distraction from the brake job.
Bambi/venison burgers would be 4 or 5 out of 7 of them.
Eric, All you have to say is "you decide dear, anything you make is always fine with me."
That's worked for me for the last forty years - by now she's figured out what I actually do and do not like.
Totally agree. Sometimes the unedited stuff is where you get the real insights
This kind of video is exactly why I watch……thank you.
Nice hint on the brake cleaner to avoid winding the boot when compressing the piston. I had that issue from time to time on a Volvo, and wish I'd thought of this.
Good comment at the end "right with the Lord" I agree! keep up the good vid's.
Mrs O does take good care of you. She seems to be a real good woman and you are blessed with her. You two are a real match.

Eric O is the best fed mechanic on TH-cam without a doubt.
You two are hilarious. Rear brake job = lunch and dinner planning. However that’s great that you two do that.
Thought I’d tuned into a cookery show for a while there, great stuff Eric
Your wrong sir, these are the videos I love the most, absolutely hallarious.

@@mrjsv4935 Parking brakes are irrelevant , in the rust belt, lol.
@@mattmanyam Haha, I guess Finland can be called rust belt as well, because of winter conditions and road salt 😄
It's very rare that you need to adjust the cable on this type of parking brake. You just check that it moves and returns freely, and that it returns fully to the stop. All the adjustment is taken care of by the internal mechanism, which is what you are resetting when you wind the piston in.
Brake job vids never get old. My only concern is that I'm hungry now! Great job keeping Mr O fed and happy Mrs O.
Legend has it
Eric, on a serious note. Did you install those toe links? I’ve never seen one with a grease fitting, and I’d like to grab a set for my flex
@@richardthomas1743 they’re only tie rods if they’re on the front, to me. Fords term is a toe link
This was the best brake job ever. The real life commentary between you and the misses just made it awesome. Also you must have better grocery stores than we do in Western Kansas.
Yeah the toe links on this one are aftermarket. Napa Chassi brand
Grew up in Auburn NY...just west of Syracuse. 20 years in military been around the states and globe...no one knows what salt potatoes are, really surprises me!...they are so good. I never heard of beef on weck tho....have to try it! Google recipies here I come!
So are we going to see a SMA cooking channel, soon?
I think she was going to do one, but she gets enough rude comments on here and their other channel.
He did some cooking in a barrel hope you didn’t miss that.
Im going to spice up this comment and say, we all got a two for one video, a, auto motive and a cooking video , love it.
I never thought my mouth would be watering while watching a brake job.
“Just Make sure you’re right with the Lord” always give thanks and be grateful for what the Lord has given ❤
Well, I'm from the South.
Your worst is better than my best brother! God bless you and everything you love. Thanks for making TH-cam worth watching. Richard
I actually thoroughly enjoyed y'alls conversation about meals. As a matter of fact, it affected our meal plans for the week! 🤣
