In this video, I turned my Taurus SHO into a Monster but found a horrible factory defect. Ford had to know this was going to cause issues on millions of cars.

I’m commenting everywhere so you see me. Hire me!!!!
we should supercharge that caprice ppo
my wife needs to watch the SPOS segment, I have the disease in a very progressively way😀
Your tranny tranfer case probably will go out at 159k
Get your push ups in OJ says!
My wife was listening in the background and she immediately said that I to have SPOS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We all do brother, we all do......
😂😂😂 that's what my girlfriend said
Same lol
My wife heard that part and was asking what I’m looking up on WebMD 😂
me tooo!!!!
SPOS is not new, back in the day here in the UK the same malady was called 'Escortitis', the symptoms were an incessant urge to modify the engine and update the suspension, many sufferers lost all their money when the illness struck hard and they often suffered from divorce. The sickness is highly contagious and those looking to avoid infection should watch out for one of the main indicators that infected folk are near by looking out for black tyre marks on the road and the roaring of a small engine being revved hard, The best medical advice is to get out of the infection area as soon as possible to avoid transmission, if an infected car unexpectedly comes into sight displaying indications that the driver is infected (such as wide wheels, modified bodywork, loud exhaust etc) the advice is to close ones eyes and put fingers in ones ears and wait quietly for the danger to pass..
Ah yes I hate when they try to dump their auto trans. Nobody can avoid transmission at that point. Its errywhere.
lol I’m saying 157253. Thanks for the tire code to btw I need a new set of tires
I suffer badly from that 😅
No treatment but continue with the disease. That’s a terrible diagnosis.
I own a Nissan Frontier. They just work as is.
As a 4 escort (2 in bits, all non running atm) owner I feel personally attacked by this diagnostic
19:09 irony for me is that I had a 1999 V8 Taurus SHO that had a slashed gas tank when I hit metal scrap that fell off a truck in front of me at 70 MPH. I was on my way to have the cams welded to avoid the known issue when this occurred. I JB Weld the gas tank at the gas station. That temporary fix turned out to be a permanent fix. LONG LIVE JB WELD! The car lasted until 2015. It went to over 180K with no major mechanical problems. I had sold it to my much younger brother who owned it for years until his girlfriend wrecked it.
JB Weld is "the shit"!
Could have left out the part about the gf cause that pisses me off did she fix it she probably did that shit on purpose
The water pump replacement doesn't "require engine removal" i changed mine in the car. Cost me $900 in parts but i also replaced cam phasers.
I’m a doctor, and certify SPOS is the real deal, good thing is the treatment includes more wrenching and ordering more parts
ROFLMFAO!!!!
SPOS also known as GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome for photographers, terrible illness to deal with, but the victims are unaware of the dangers because it's such a fun affliction to be burdened with
@@chiefdenis ROFLMFAO!!!!
A Ford Taurus at 166.666 miles
Me a cool man a 2020 Nissan Sentra SR.🤨
Based on previous SHO experience with this generation, I think you have a high pressure fuel issue. Last one I had, had a failed high pressure fuel pump that killed the fuel injectors. It will be fine at higher rpm but will be very sluggish from a dig. You may want to consider the replacement of the HPFP and injectors. Should help the sluggishness off the line. The pump is pretty easy to replace and injectors arent too bad. I could help you out with it if needed. I work in the area. (I was a master certified ford mechanic for 10 years)
I am certainly not a technician but working in parts for Ford the last 6 years of my life you see some trends in this issue. The high pressure pump and injectors even for trucks with the 5.0 and 3.5 are common items to check when having a long crank or fuel pressure issue. Sometimes it's just the driver module. Definitely worth a look for a car with 150k miles.
Gear Head Rocks!! I change the PTU every 10-15k and tranny drain and fill every 20k. You're going to love it in the Snow! Get rid of the noise maker as it leaks and youll loose boost pressure.
Love ur enthusiasm and general positive attitude! Also love SHOs and think it's definitely one of the most underrated 'modern' hot rods! Special thanks for how you incorporate the bolt sizes and screw types in ur vids...details DO matter! Lol. Born in Chicago (North side-Rogers Park) so go Midwest! Thanks for this video. WolfmanVegas!!!
I opened youtube to know how to operate our microwave to heat some readymade momos but I think I'll watch LSC instead 😂😂😂
You just press the number 1 button and it takes care of the rest. Enjoy my video!

There's this amazing series from the golden age of youtube called "Is It A Good Idea to Microwave This?". Those guys could certainly operate a microwave, highly recommend
The
I had a 2015 PP SHO before I got my E55, it was full bolt on, down pipes and a 3bar tune from Livernois that was good to about 450hp AWD. It was SCARY FAST and ate up highway at an alarming rate and still got 24+mpg. I only got rid of it because the warranty ended and it started to show signs of the water pump/ timing chain issue yours already had repaired. It was black on black, lowered with bronze TSW wheels and with the Borla exhaust, you could tell it wasn’t your average Taurus. Even the police usually just gave me thumbs up, even if I was going over the limit and a couple I got to know in my area said they wished their cruisers looked that good. It handled pretty well for a big girl but the couches you sit on limit your cornering ability unless you brace yourself on the door, lol. I just paid off the E55 and she needs some suspension work so it will stop eating the inside of the rear tires and I need to do the rest of the mods I have sitting in a closet so it’s coming off of the road for the summer. I’m going next week to visit my parents for Mother’s Day and picking up my 2001 E430 that’s been sitting for 3 months and driving it 1500 miles back across the country back home. I’m doing my own LegitRoadKill trip! Wish me luck! 😂
Some people don't realize just how much your seats can prevent your cornering ability. I love adjustable bolsters. I ain't gonna put a racing seat in absolutely everything... hold me in at least a little guys c'mon!
Ford's internal water pump design on these is horrible along with any other manufacturers who decide an internal water pump is the answer. Ffs do a remote pump and be done with it manufacturers!
I've got a Gen 5 Taurus with the 3.5 and the same BS internal water pump so I'm using a digital coolant gauge to monitor temps because that weep hole doesn't always tell you when there's an issue. It's my work car so if it dies I'll sell it for whatever I get for it and find something that doesn't suck as horribly. It's a limited awd too.
Also I would never touch an ecoboost Taurus. If people who own them like them, more power to them. It's got miniscule interior space for the boat of a car external dimension wise and after owning 9 different Fords including my current work car, I'm done with em. I'll stick with Japanese cars, older muscle cars, etc. Nothing new by any American manufacturers.
Bad case of SPOS , IT MAY BE TERMINAL.
I had a 14 tuned by Brew City Boost. I got rid of mines for the same reason. I miss it sometimes but the explorer ST keeps me happy lol
So a 3 bar tune means 45 psi or 30 psi because of the vacuum side?
The dream of owning my daily was the reason I subbed to your channel 4 or 5 years back ( the 211 videos ) my daily was an clk500 A209 back then. My daily now is a Mercedes SL500 r230 with around 175k miles on the clock. No trip to work without a big smile on my face. So always happy starting my workday....
Awesome video! Going step by step through the mechanical repair and maintenance is so interesting.
I had a 2015 SHO tuned, cold air etc. a couple year back. Such a great daily.
I had a ex police Taurus and my genius mechanic used a brilliant way of clawfoot swivels and extensions and took the sensor on top of the PTU out and drained and filled the PTU in 2 hours. I was verry impressed . I did the front and back myself and when it cam to the |PTU) I just was not smart enough to figure it out. But he did he is a young kid maybe 25 years old but grew up in a garage.
My daily is a 2012 Dacia Lodgy, it's a Romanian car. It's a mix between between a van and a station wagon.
It has a 4 cylinder, 8 valve, 1.6 non-turbo petrol engine, making 83 horsepower.
It does 0-60 in 14 seconds.
I'm sure you can agree that with performance numbers like that, no further tuning is required, I got all the power I need.
I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Delica Spacewagon off-road van. You would be lucky to get to 60 mph, maybe downhill in a hurricane.
Man Dacia still exists? lol. I haven’t heard that manufacturer since I last went to Romania.
Dacia are owned Renault, they're a success dude to selling budget cars for poor people. Think no AC and manual window winders...
Where's peter
@@mickleblade you do get some niceties now, alloys, tinted windows, leather, AC, cruise control and so on, but the one I have does indeed have wind up windows and no AC.
Aircon is the one thing I would like.
Their slogan is "status symbols for people who don't need status symbols". 😁
I daily drive a 2020 Jeep Unlimited 2.0 T with a few mods, I've installed a Mishimoto upper intercooler pipe, a Turbosmart blow off valve, an s&b high flow cold air intake and for the exhaust gasses I installed a MBRP 2.5 catback exhaust and 4.56 gears. Eurocompulsion ECU/TCU tune to be done in the near future.
I daily my 07 LX470 but your channel is constantly giving me ideas to buy a new fun daily and keep the LX for the weekend trips
I daily drive a 1987 Ford Thunderbird 2.3 Turbo! Modified. It gets 27 mpg. It's old but paid for. I love your channel.
I had a black 87 tc loved that car! Super easy to maintain.
My SPOS started when I was only 14 and now I'm 60. It's incurable
😂😂😂
It's so odd, that this is one of my favorite cars of all time. It's not nearly as flashy or showy as some of the sports cars or performance trucks/SUVs I like but this car is at the top of the short list. Excellent job doing maintenance and modifying this car. This is one sick sleeper/grocery getter.
167,517 miles is when the xfer case blows up. Fitting hoses that don't want to go on. A little dishwasher soap as lubricant works wonder. You can also microwave hoses just a bit to heat them or use a heat gun - good for motorcycle head/carb boots. Dishwasher soap to put on motorcycle hand grips works well. And when soap dries- they are on nice and tight. Looks like quite the project. I do enjoy your vids. Keep up the good work. The odd repairs I do I document like how to training vids.
Currently dailying a 1991 Saab 900. Pulled it out of my garage after 3 years, and it’s been magnificent.
My daily is a 97 Firebird Formula, with 205k miles on it. Has been for about 4 years now, and I have no plans to stop driving it every day.
1998 V6 Firebird daily driver with a 2001 Firebird Formula as a backup car here!
Great improvements on the SHO! I’m daily driving a 23 Honda Ridgeline. It’s a quick truck at 6.0 seconds 0-60 and tows up to 5,000 lbs. Not bad for a minivan/suv based truck.
The funny part is the skit where homie mistakenly orders parts and he’s like ‘oh nooohh,I didn’t again’ lol
Nice finally seeing someone actually work on these PTUs. I can’t tell you the countless of times I’ve seen where a thick black metallic paste just comes out of it. You tell the customer they should at least do a fluid change but they don’t care.
The problem is two fold, and fords fault. The PTU fluid is classified as 'Lifetime' which means there is NO normal maintenance schedule for it, which also means you dont get a reminder from your normal care places. It also means a dealer wont do it even if you ask. AND, if you have the non-performance package version (the PP has a cooler line going to the radiator, a design is shares with the PPV), there isn't a drain on the PTU, so the only way to flush it is to vacuum extract, so its not even something you can easily do at home.
Ford will not change the PTU fluid. It is a lifetime fluid, and they will refuse the service when asked. You have to go to an independent shop.
@@jaymorrison2419 Drill a drain like he did. I did that years ago on a Freestyle I used to own. Very frustrating that 2 decades plus of using PTU that Ford still claims lifetime fluid on a qt of gear oil.
I always loved the SHO!!! Back in the day, my friend had a manual 1990 SHO, which was so fun to drive!
The 1990 intake looked very cool...!
...and those lift hooks so you can pull the engine for belts or plugs.
I recently got rid of my 16 SHO. I had a water meth kit with a noise maker delete intake pipe and it was so much fun. I've seen some comments saying you've had the timing and water pump already taken care of, watch out for the turbos too. I had a rear turbo blow along with a dripping water pump and it was just time to let it go. Super fun under rated car though.
I always been interested by the new Ford SHO & now You just made me want to buy one & upgrade it right away
I'm happy you are raising awareness for SPOS Alex, we don't get the recognition we deserve. I've found buying a Lexus helps a lot, but my older BMW's still cause relapses every now and then.
my Lexus LS430 is getting coil overs, uprated control arms and drop links fitted. Not sure if this counted as modifying a daily use car
@@davidtreeby3909 My LS430 motor got damaged by a shop replacing the cam ear gaskets and now I'm having to take them to court, other shops are quoting me 7K to repair. I'm in disbelieve that I'm dealing with this situation.
I've got to say, Alex: I ALWAYS look forward to your vids. You seem to hit that one spot in my brain with each and every vehicle you work on, that brings pleasure. You pick, fix and modify the exact vehicles I've lusted after for years. Keep doing what you're doing!
I’ve found this to be true for myself always something I’ve been interested/obsessed over at some point. Waiting for an S60r like mine🤔
Thanks brother!
I was sorta pissed he's stole an idea I've been toying with for a couple of years and if more people find out about these the price is going to go up I can't find a good ppv for cheep now thanks alot Alex 😂😂😂😂, did they make a Lincoln version?
Whenever something awesome goes on a car for a dollar, you should cut the "I'll buy that for a dollar!" scene from RoboCop 🤣
Richard Dawson! RIP
FYI, you installed the exhaust tips inbound too far. When the car is at idle the hot air from the exhaust will accumulate behind the bumper cover and deform it. The tip end should be flush with the bumper surface.
LSC quickly became my favorite youtube car channel. Quality down to earth stuff with a side of silly
Youre my favorite TH-cam channel. Thanks for the priority tires discount. I was wanting to buy tires for my wifes ‘10 Mazda 6 3.7l. I even bought the same tires you did for the SHO. Keep up the awesome work. Youve given me confidence in building my 93 Trans Am. You show that not everything goes to plan, fix it, and keep moving forward!
Im so glad somebody is talking about this. I've been suffering for quite some time. I've told my wife, " it may be time for help."
I currently run a heavily modified 2016 Audi S6 as a daily - but will always miss my 2012 Livernois SHO on Methanol. They're really special cars, and have SUCH an amazing presence on the road.
That PTU isn't going to last much longer. Running them low and not changing fluid every 30-40k absolutely kills them. Open it up and you will be amazed how cooked the old fluid is. Check out FORD MAKEULOCO's you tube videos on these. Keep up the great videos man.
Can't have cooked fluid when there's no fluid left!
🤣🤣
@@JREwing78I'd argue thats the best time to actually have cooked fluid. When it runs low and then there's only enough left to cook onto the sides, and every other surface inside the PTU... When the remaining fluid inevitably gets hot as a MF!
Agree! Change every 30,000 miles!
Dorman I believe makes a replacement unit
I definitely suffer from a horrible case of SPOS 🤣🤣
My daily is a 2014 Masi Speciale CX. And even us cyclists get SPOS.
I suffer from a rare, yet related form of SPOS. Its actually called "Stupid Piece of S**T!"
What a steal on that SHO. I currently have a tuned ecoboost explorer and it’s a lot of fun
My 2010 Flex failed at 162,990 miles... Had the same issue you are dealing with being it is basically the same car with a boxy body... I did exactly what you were talking about and got the case from a police Taurus with the 3.7L V6 with the cooler and it held more lube.... worked great so I sold it while all was good.... Only recent car I have had that I really miss.
Hey, brother, I just gotta say you're a great mechanic. And you always produce great content from the editing to the commentary. An even a lot of funny moments ,Thank you for what you do. You are awesome. You are truly an awesome individual. Been watching you for about 4 years. Always cool, never boring. Keep doing what you're doing. From one chicago guy to another
My 4 year old son and I start our Saturdays with your videos!
Thanks guys!
Cool video. I’ve always loved the Taurus SHO, 1st gen to to the 3rd Gen.
I'm guessing 175,000 miles when it gives. Just found your channel and I'm enjoying it as we speak. Keep up the great work!
While at my dealer, who I do not use for maintenance, I asked about the maintenance interval on my transmission and Supercharger… was told lifetime. I then asked why other manufactures have mile intervals on the exact same parts - they doubled down and told me “lifetime”. So frustrating. Don’t worry - did EVERYTHING at 42,000 miles - even when the previous owner did it at the dealer. Gives me peace of mind knowing the definitive date and miles of the service plus using product brands I trust.
"durrr I don't know what fluid color and smell mean. I changed it all. I did good?🤣
2013 SHO with the performance package. I put the car on jack stands, poured some Liquid Moly in it, and put it in drive for 10 minutes and then reverse for 10 minutes, then drained and replaced the fluid. I plan on doing this a couple times with oil changes. Then do fluid changes every 10k miles or so.
I have a Fusion Sport and it's an amazing sleeper with one of the most reliable engine/transmission combinations you can get!
I never miss an episode of LSC it's my Saturday morning treat after watching the usual internet garbage all week keep up the good work dude you are awesome
Out of all the channels I watch, I like the way you integrate your sponsors into your videos. Most people have terrible transitions or splice some ad that doesn't make sense in. At least you show the product while you are in the process of filming your current vid.
The PTU fails mostly because of galling of the fluid. That causes bearing failure. The heat from the downpipes literally cooks the fluid. Leaks don't help either. Also the ptu holds 18 Oz of fluid. The best fluids we have found have been the Amsoil and the Redline Lightweight Shockproof.
Anyone tried insulation behind the exhaust to keep the heat down?
A 15 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport is my current daily, but I have experience with 4 prior SHO's 89, 92, 99. 01. Those motors were anemic compared to newer versions, but persistent issues kept me from pursuing newer SHO's.
Thank God for you!!! I have a 2018 with 50K on it and will need to keep track of maintaining it.
Couple great items to add as far as upgrades goes:
EPP Air Intake is a well worthy upgrade as it separates the piping to the two turbos which will result in less waste gate duty cycles and sound cool.
EPP hot pipes: as you increase boost the stock hot pipes can result in boost leaks (especially the noise maker) and you can order them in any color and being aluminum might help with some heat dissipation
XDI high pressure fuel pump
And when 400 AWHP gets boring Gearheads gen 3 turbo upgrade will blow you away.
Weather is nice so my daily is my 59 Studebaker Lark IV.
Mechanically, it's a new car so I get the 50's style, but with 90's tech drivetrain/running gear.
2JZ-GE freshly built, 5-speed, 4-wheel discs, Corvette rack&pinion, fresh stock suspension with Koni's and big sways, Buick Century bench seats and a nice radio. Reliable, sounds great, handles better than you'd think, 30mpg and all the confused looks!
Great episode Alex!
I have a Kia Sorrento 2020
I love it. It’s fantastic super simple boring put all my crap in it. Don’t have to worry about where I park it. One of my favorite cars I’ve ever owned.
Sorry to hear about your disease. I hope you can 'work' your way though it. Strength brother.
Watching your videos from the very middle of the continent. I'm currently driving my 2005 Mistubishi L200 4x4, 4M40 motor, NA, 250k+ miles. Best wishes from Nicaragua, Central America. Loving every single one of your videos.
You ever thought about doing a diesel truck build. I think like 07 and blow is all pre DEF fluid and emissions and stuff. Trying to pick up clean pre-mission diesels can be someone expensive with today's market especially low mileage. But I'm sure you're like me not scared of something with a miles if it's rust free and everything seems to check out okay.
Great content Artur respect From UK 🇬🇧
Here in NC, there are approximately 60 Ford Taurus SHO models for sale. I started looking to purchase one a couple of months ago then earlier this week, I lost my job!! At 52 yrs old, I know it's not the end of the world because I've been through this before, albeit 20 yrs ago, I'll somehow make it. No job, no car (driving my dad's 04 Ford Explorer) to and fro my old job. Anywho, great video!!
Dozier - keep the faith bro. I too lost my job at age 52, and faced no decent opportunities for employment. So I decided to turn my hobby into a money maker. I survived and am now 77 living in Raleigh. Best of luck, and God bless.
I definitely would not label myself as a Ford Taurus fan, still I've been waiting all week for this video!
Hopefully the Taurus lasts until 156429 miles. Love that you take cars others are worried to buy and fix them up, long time subscriber and love the builds.
Thanks for all the great content man. Did you open up both blowoff valves ?
I’ve been working the overnight shift at Churchill downs doing security on the horses racing in the Oaks and Kentucky Derby. I’ve checked for a new video so many times, you can only talk to a horse so much without it talking back before boredom sets in 😂.
Childhood dreams of a real Mr. Ed were crushed once again!😂
Every Saturday morning!
Go Baby Go!
I forgot all about that show. Loved Mr Ed as a kid in the 80’s.
My dad was a beer distributor in the 80's and 90's. He had all the beer at Churchill. As a teenager I would get an armband that was all access. Could go literally anywhere. Was hanging out on the top floor clubhouse as a 17yo. Haha.
One year he also got me into the bus parking area where I sold T-shirts, was the only one selling to 100's of buses, made so much $. I've got so many stories....
Ever since the 90s everyone has slept on the SHO and underestimated them and their performance.....
The Modern SHO platform had so much potential, but with the way the turbos were placed which makes it very difficult to work on them, and also the ptu factory problem on top of many other issues (water pump, electrical issues) made me sad when I had to get rid of mine. I loved every minute of driving it, 2011 SHO, but sadly the majority of time I had it, it was at the mechanic with an issue. If you can figure out the preventative maintenance and prove the reliability of this platform, I think we will start seeing even more SHO's
47:13 plus - Alex going off on boost and tunes with a car seat in the back. That baby better have a 3 point harness, man...
A little SHO with my coffee, I think so!
156,000 for the transfer case. Or as soon as you put some power to it!
I had a 1996 sho, loved it, with the true Yamaha motor.
Cup Cake Trays are reusable solid metal trays that you drop cup cake wrappers into and the wrappers make the ridges on the sides of the cup cakes, muffin tins have the ridges formed in them because muffins don't get wrappers (traditionally).
Man that’s a big upgrade I can’t wait to see what it makes now.
Your a good man Aurther Morgan 🙏🙏
I love it! “I now have a tuned SHO” meanwhile there’s a car seat in the back!! All good! I have a car seat in the back of my scatpack.
I owned 2 SHOs in the 90s (91 and 98) and loved them both. I was searching for a newer one a few years ago but just didn't find "the one". Now I'm in a SUV but still miss having a car and an AWD SHO would be great. I like what you've done with yours.
Same her, I had 3 MTXs back in the day (93, 90 and 92) . Years later I bought a 2010 MKS EcoBoost (SHO in a Tuxedo) and modified it into the low 12s before the trans and PTU gave me issues.
I have a Flex Ecoboost. It's the middle ground of everything.
I have a '14 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost. I found a Ford dealer with a machine that extracts the PTU fluid. 95K miles and no issues.
LOVE the drag racing with the baby seat ! There is a 0-60 4 second baby seat option 😂😂😂
My daily is a 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro4X with 25K miles. It’s got plenty of power, drives/handles well, has all the tech I need, and the seats are very comfortable! I bought it because of the 3.8 n/a motor (no turbos), hydraulic steering (I like a heavier feel), and it was the only midsize truck that I like the design of.
What does it have to do with this?
I have twin turbo explorer with a tune and it tows 6,000 fairly well. About same as your truck with 3,000
Hey Alex. I daily drive a 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL550 4matic, 132,000 miles. I never thought I'd own a Mercedes but since watching you and all of your Mercedes videos, you gave me the courage to get one. Before this I had a 2013 BMW X5 xdrive 50i which you know the issues they were plagued with. Not that Mercedes are worry-free. But watching your videos literally made me more comfortable purchasing my first Mercedes. And it's an awesome machine. So thanks and I look forward to your videos every weekend.
I love the SHO, even the older ones.
I am currently driving my second Focus ST, but I might sell my Ford Edge for one of these.
Good Vid! I drive a 2017 F150 RCSB 2.7 tuned intercooled, DIY intake, and 4 inch catback. In a full Icon 2.5 suspension.
please do a water pump replacement when needed, I would love to see the engineering benefit for installing a wear part in the engine, thanks for the great content and entertainment - the pure joy in your face and singing when you make repairs is plain awesome!!!
Daily is a 2003 Toyota Hilux ute 2.7 petrol with 450000 kms. Can loan it to anybody. Perfect for moving jet skis, karts and motorcycles and using as a work bench.
In Australia we buy 91, E10 (10% ethanol) ,95 and 98 octane fuel. Also occasionally available E85.
Loving the videos as always Alex keep up the amazing work. As for your question I daily a 2006 ford Mondeo ST220. Which I think is the UK equivalent to your Taurus just without turbos. 3 litres of pure N/A V6 fun
1:05 maybe that is why i recommend replacing the engine while being in there to replace the spark plugs.. 🤔
My project for this year is a 2010 Audi S5 4.2L with a 6 speed manual. New clutch and many more parts to get it running. It sat for over 2 years when I picked it up. Learned do not buy cheap injectors. Very satisfying. Runs pretty nice now. Good looking car.

I was so relieved when i crawled under the wifes '15 SHO to change the PTU fluid after we put 10k on it (85k now), and the fluid looked like maple syrup.
Went back in with fluid that looks like maple syrup.👍
That thing is awesome man, quick little daily
Good info
At what mileage will the PTU blow fail?
It already has. Tap a drain on the bottom if it’s not a PP ptu
I should watch before I comment
@@brutekiller787 You said "PP".
Thats all. Nothing valuable to add.
I say 158,000

Another easy way to remove exhaust from the hangers is with channellock type pliers. You just adjust it so that the other end of the pliers touch end of the metal hanger. Then you just pry/twist 🤔
My guess on mileage is 155601. Loved the look of the 2nd gen SHOs when they first came out. This body style is slowly growing on me.
I have SPOS, but mine is survival parts, not performance parts. What started at some tie rods turned into 1400 dollars worth of parts from RockAuto, so you know there's a lot of parts there lol. Gotta keep the Silverado on the road 💪

Hey Alex, my daily is a gray 06 300C SRT8 bone stock. Like your SHO, mine flies under the radar of most people.
We have the Lincoln MKZ with 3.0 twin turbo and AWD. Flushed it asap when I bought it.
Heya, @LegitStreetCars -
Judging by all the shavings you found on the new drain plug, I'd say that poor old Taurus doesn't even have another 5K miles left in it, so I'm going to guesstimate that the PTU blows somewhere around 160K even. =)
