      14 years ago when I was 40 ish, I went to my GP with mid-cycle bleeding, they were not interested in the slightest, did a smear test and that was all. I figured out myself that it was being caused by taking agnus castus for PMS. I could switch the bleeding on/off by starting/stopping Agnus Castus, and I was only taking 1 tablet a day for a couple of days at peak PMS time ( it really worked for me, btw). Recently when I tried to get HRT, I was sent for US, MRI and biopsy - to check out my massive fibroids, ovarian cysts. But all was good thanks to 10 years of Mirena. Never stopped having periods though! Thanks for educating us. Love your videos.

    My cycle length has become irregular over the past 1 or 2 years. I also have fibroids which may cause the heavy flow. Last month I passed the biggest clots that I've ever seen. Very scary experience. I'm so tired of ruining my bed sheets too. I take iron pills. I'm 49 and I can't wait for the day that I stop getting a period.

    I was told the heavy/irregular periods were due to excess weight. Despite the fact that my age and some health issues were clearly pointing to perimenopause. I even had a female practitioner. It’s been a very frustrating journey. Thank you for making these videos, Dr. Hirsch, they are very helpful for those of us who do not have practitioners who are educated in perimenopause/menopause.

    great 👍🏻 video! I like that you started talking TMI because let’s be real transition comes with some very strange things and WE need to discuss it SO WE don’t feel SCARED 😱 and that’s it’s NORMAL to see STRANGE things during perimenopause! I already keep a text 💬 diary 📔 of MY everything 😱 I’ve had people tell ME that’s crazy and I say it’s NOT because the MORE information YOU have about your SYMPTOMS it’s better for the doctor it’s literally a full time job though because I’m SERIOUS with MY keeping text 💬 diary 📔 and I also take pictures if MY bathroom 🚽 trips look kinda ODD 👈🏻 also I keep track of what I eat/what time I finish eating too but I have obviously some gastro issue going on which U would love YOU to do a video on that 👈🏻 please 🤍 I’ve done a couple of those pelvic ultrasounds everything always looks good which I’m shocked but I get a lot of uncomfortable/discomfort at times! that uterine biopsy does that hurt❓could that also see if you have endometriosis❓(is uterine biopsy kinda like a Pap smear fast 💨 like details please ‼️) I’m just miserable dealing with all that comes with perimenopause SO many issues started since! a lot of things I wonder 💭 if are NORMAL OR NOT! can YOU please do a video on in perimenopause how dealing with after your period🩸going into your FERTILE WEEK then OVULATION 👈🏻 this is MY HARDEST time of the month and it seems like it last longer than a NIGHTMARE WEEK 🙄😱😮‍💨 I’m literally bedbound the entire week because MY HEART ♥️ flaring are SO bad and the discomfort going through FERTILE WEEK then OVULATION! is it normal to get female fertile discharge during fertile week❓👈🏻 TMI but needs to be talked about like things are SO different in perimenopause 👈🏻 at times I feel discomfort/uncomfortable in my left OVARY area and it last hours it’s SO miserable and 2 tylenol does NOT help a thing! please make a video on this topic plus digestion issues/constipation/gastro/food sensitivities/food allergies during perimenopause 😮‍💨🤯🤍

    I had a uterine ablation done in June of 2019 after extremely heavy bleeding and most red days than non-red days in a month. I also had some very large fibroids. I am almost 2 years into the ablation with excellent results. However, since then I have no way of knowing when my periods ‘should’ happen. I have had all my blood work recently completed in March this year with everything within normal range including my thyroid function. I have both hot flashes and night sweats quite frequently but haven’t been very good at tracking them to find a pattern. I’ve also had 2 episodes of heart palpitations over the 3 years, the most recent one in March this year. Both times had a Holter test and everything came back perfectly normal. Anxiety has dropped by 80-90% since the ablation. Any recommendations for tracking symptoms or easy trackers to use?

    Hi Dr. Heather! Thanks for your video!! I am 48 yrs old. I have a copper IUD and having super heavy periods. Last year I learned through ultrasound that I also have a couple of fibroids and that my IUD is embedded 😥 Due too a previous ObGyn and insurance changes I have lost so much time and so much blood that I have become anemic. My new ObGyn will have to do a hesteroscopy to remove the iud and do an ablation to help with the bleeding I hope that this works for me and somehow regain my health and strength back!! I would like to hear your opinion on ablation when there are a few fibroids involved. thanks.

      I just had my first late period, it was 11 days late and then it came on but was not like normal. So painful and not as heavy and lasted about 5 days. Then, 16 days later, I'm lightly spotting! Freaked me out as I have always been right as rain and over the past year I'll notice that it comes on several days early or a few days late. This was my first really late one and then having some bleeding 2 weeks later is scary. I guess this can be the peri menopause starting to rear its ugly head. I hope you are doing better😊

      @mdh220643663 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just turned 60 last month and I’m having my period every couple of days now. It’s been changing through the last few years. It was really heavy for a few years…then almost non existent for awhile…now It’s always very light…where it used to be extremely heavy for those few years…to the point of anemia. But now it’s really light every couple days, sometimes just spotty. I’ll have bad cramps for a few hours then it’ll stop for about 48 hours….its nothing like it was…I’m grateful for that…the cramps are bearable as long as I have my heat pad. The only other symptom that gets me is the hot flashes. But I usually have them just at night. So I’m flipping blankets on and off throughout the night and have a fan pointed at my face with the power button within arm’s reach. Lol. Same set up at work. Lol. I have a fan under my desk with the buttons close to my foot for easy on and off…and a heat pad plugged in ready for use when needed. I am overweight and trying to remedy that…I read that being overweight can really screw up your hormonal balance as well. Being overweight can also prolong your period. So I’m just waiting it out and trying to lose the extra pounds and hoping it will speed up this process. What a nightmare. They say that you will most likely follow in your mother’s footsteps with menopause…but my mother went into menopause in her 40s so that’s out the window. I’m just so done with it all…I’ve been having periods since I was 12! Enough already!😢

    i I have no idea what's wrong with my periods. My periods had always been regular but the past year it has changed. Last month I got it a day early and the month before it was 14 days late. This month l'm 4 days late by today no idea what to do. Not Pregnant for sure

  • @EdonttalktomeH
    @EdonttalktomeH หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’ve never had regular periods. Like never. I got my first one when I was 11 & it didn’t come back until I was 13. I’ve never had a period for more than 4 days (2-3 is average for me) & sometimes it skips months especially now at age 37. I don’t get cramps, cravings & I’m not a heavy bleeder. I barely bleed . . . HOWEVER . . . The mood swings are crazy (I get mad) & I’m always hot (even as a kid). This happens about a week before I’m about bleed, that’s how I know it’s coming (that & my armpit sweat has a smell when normally it doesn’t & I get this strange ovary flutter feeling). When the bleed happens, I feel great. It’s weird. It’s the week before that’s tough because sometimes the period happens & sometimes it doesn’t. I’m getting sterilized in 5months so you can imagine how much anxiety I feel right now trying NOT to become pregnant & thinking I am whenever Flo does a no-show. I don’t have any vaginal dryness, no decreased libido, no hair thinning . . . But the increased body temperature is wild. I’ve always been warm bodied but it getting hotter these days & I hate it. I think I’m early perimenopausal. I don’t take any birth control because they all make me feel weird (even the paraguard because I’m allergic to copper, found that out the hard way). This new thing that is happening is this period skipping which makes me worry sooo much because I do NOT want to be pregnant & that sometimes I wake up nauseous is what I think are perimenopause symptoms. Idk. Seems like my doctors don’t understand or acknowledge perimenopause. I even had one of them tell me I’m too young which made no sense. I’m just sweaty & confused sometimes. lol

Biopsy was fine. She put me on BC to regulate my periods. I've since stopped taking them, and am almost at the 1 year mark of no periods. I'm due for lab work and a physical again, but everytime i have i have hormones tested, they're always in the normal range. not sure what happens if i've been without a period for a year, and my hormone levels show normal.

      Exercise and good diet really helps! I had high estrogen (painful breasts, etc) and after starting regular exercise (do TH-cam workouts at home) the symptoms seem to be better. What I read regular exercise and movement helps the body get rid of excess estrogen. Also I took DIMM supplement and started eating more cruciferous veggies, which also seem to help. I stopped taking DIMM now.
