Although this is a free class, if you feel inclined to tip, that's certainly appreciated! You can do so here: venmo.com/?aud... or if you prefer paypal, my email is my full name at gmail. Thanks!
This was great. Thanks!
One question for the one-page...
You mention it's best to end your one-page once you get into Act 2. Does that mean you end it around the midpoint? Or is it more of an overall preview of what's to come in Act 2?
Appreciate your time!
Glad you enjoyed it. And yes - more of a preview of act two, than anything. Give a glimpse of the obstacles your protagonist will face. That can include a glimpse of the midpoint, but it doesn’t need to.
So, I just looked up Aftermath on IMDB... Apparently Kevin Chapman is involved, and he was awesome in one of my top 5 favorite shows of all time (Person of Interest). Then there's Mason Gooding, who acted in Scream alongside Jenna Ortega, and she's the lead actor in Wednesday - the show I'd been waiting for for over half of my life and thought I was never going to see, until it miraculously happened out of nowhere just over a year ago. It's also the show that got me interested in working in the film industry in the first place, which eventually led me to screenwriting, which ultimately led me to you and this channel. I mean, the industry as a whole doesn't have that many people working in it, so I guess that's not too surprising, but it still gives me some pretty crazy full circle Ouroboros vibes...
I came up with an utterly insane plan on how to potentially get a PA job in Ireland for Wednesday S2 by April (despite living in Croatia, and having no previous experience whatsoever), but whether that pans out or not, I'm sticking with screenwriting and finishing my first script in the next few months.
This comment is kind of all over the place because I'm "slightly" drunk off some homebrew sake for New Year's Eve, but I just wanted to give you a huge "thank you" for the course. Out of all the screenwriting how-to resources, this one felt the most natural and helpful - like I was just sitting down with a friend who's "in the know" and breaking things down for me, without being too formal or prescriptive. I only found it after it was all done already, so I missed out on some of the truly great stuff like getting to actually interact with you, but still... Thank you for the time you dedicated to helping others, it was a huge help and a lighthouse in the dark stormy seas for me.
I already downloaded all of the videos, re-watched them, and I know I'll be going back to them from time to time in the future when I get stuck. I don't know why you decided to eventually take them down, but please reconsider - they could be very helpful to many other people, and it would be a shame for all of that time and effort you put into them to just... disappear forever. You created something of true value here, please don't just erase it from existence.
Anyways... best of luck with all of your future endeavors, and I'm definitely watching Aftermath when it comes out.
Really appreciate those kind words! And oddly enough, I also had sake last night... though not homebrewed, unfortunately.
I've got a couple different reasons for taking down the videos, but I have no problem with it if people download them ahead of time and pass them around. Rest assured, though, I will continue to do what I can to provide advice and pay it forward as time allows.
@@NGDwrites That is odd. You know, I realize that the universe is just a swirling mass of entropy and chaos, and any meaning we find in it is just our brains trying to find patterns in said chaos, but I'm going to choose to interpret it as another good omen anyways :D
I'd actually like to repay you for what you've already done, but dead broke right now so can't tip/donate at the moment... But hey, if you ever need some coding work done, I'm your guy. Actually thinking about building a website/platform for screenwriters (new and established) to connect, host their scripts, and exchange feedback. Think social media profile + portfolio + script swap/feedback + contests. And far less predatory than some existing platforms - less of an exploitative pure business, and more of an accessible community. But not even going down that rabbit hole until I'm done getting this movie out of my head and onto the page.
@@kaorumugen991 really appreciate that! You never know... maybe I will have a need for some coding help down the road. All the best with your script and your platform idea!
