    very good job the only mistake made was the multi bay is not pressurized as such needed to be higher. pipe work is a pain. very nice job. another option reseal the grey box put a bulkhead higher up. it all gets complicated some times. love your videos

    Although 2 UV’s cost a little more to run, I feel it is worth the extra. Like yourself I introduced a second UV (an amalgam 40 watt submersible) into the inlet side of my filter system last year to complement the TMC 30 watt UV on the outlet side of the moving bed. The amalgam kills the algae that comes in to the vortex direct from the pond. Since the amalgam lamps are so powerful, it also helps to kill bad bacteria that gets wrapped up in the vortex. In the event any remaining algae gets past the 2 still beds and through the moving bed the the TMC UV kills that off before the water is fed through an upward flow filter that contains mountain tree lotus root that is submerged. The clarity of the pond water is superb. Having said that, I need to pressure wash the Japanese matting in the vortex twice a week now the fish are feeding heavily. I am sure the system you have in place will work as soon as the bacteria has had time to colonise all the media you now have in place. Great work and hopefully your stress levels can now come down as you relax and view your lovely Koi👍👍

      Hi Alex, you have a fantastic system. I did think about the amalgame UV when I had the sieve and put it directly in there, like Gary and Beth Parker have. But in the end I got rid of the sieve.
      I do like where you have put the mountain tree. Always loved your pond and set up. And that bridge is just fantastic. Love it.

    Like the filter bay Lau they work and gives you a hands on filter something that's lost with a drum have to say i could see the cockup coming but way to late to say so now. But you nailed it and help is always on hand from the channel people on hear as you know. Happy ponding

      Thank you Martyn. Yes I love having my hands on the filters. Love it. I knew you would say that about the cock up. We almost called you Saturday night when the flooding started.. but it was almost 10pm and I just shut down the whole system as that's all I could do. I was fearing the back pressure, so I immediately realised what was happening when the water stopped rising What a weekend!!

    Sorry I jumped in before watching all the video..lol ...you could have had easy pod and moving bed filter going into the multi bay and return from multi bay back to the pond.

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vince. Unfortunately I couldnt as the Eazy Pod is running in 5000 litres and hour and that specific Multibay is a 3000 litres per hour. But I could have done Eazy Pod and split to Multibay and moving bed.

Great video.

      Hi Gary. Nice to hear from you. Hope you are all ok. Yeah, I was fearing the back pressure too... and it happened haha. I wasn't laughing though Friday night. Expensive mistake, live and learn 😁
      For the media, at the moment I am thinking about K1+ as I have a full bag of it. Either that or I will need to buy the Hel-x 13 as it's most probably the best for a moving bed.

      @@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I got the k+ to do mine via the internet and it was one of the contaminated bags with swarf in it and had a second bag sent which was the same so wish I had gone for the hel-x 13 as not a lot in the price

      @@garymiles8095 the Hel-x 13 is bigger media. Ideally, a bed to Hel-x 13 followed by another bed of K+ is fantastic. But only got room for 1 bed. And I already have the K+.

    Great video, slabs look amazing! May I ask what is the advantage of having the filter matting vertical rather than horizontal?

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi George, thank you for watching and for the comment. The mountain tree 3D mat is very hard, the bacteria colonise the whole, regardless of the position despite the flow of the water in the Multibay. So it's biological media, not mechanical. There is an air stone underneath which oxygens better when vertical as it goes in all the pieces of mat. Hope this helps.

      I bought it second hand on Gumtree. And then I refurbished it as you can see on the video.

      Hi Jamie, the vortex inlet or outlet? I had to cut mine and all the others with a saw and started from scratch again.

      It is the waste outlet on the bottom of the vortex I have tried everything to undo it I might have to do what you did saw it off I only have a problem with that one as the other 2 are fine. I’ve not got it connected yet as it will be for my new build what I’m doing.

      @@jamieskoipond yeah same here. 2 of them were ok but one was bad. I decided to cut the whole lot off and have all the outlets new and matching. When you change your tank connectors, make sure you put the rubber seals on the outside so you don't get any leaks.

      Hi, I bought the Mountain tree skimmer, Lotus Root and spiral 3D mat from iKoi in Italy. There are no rep in the UK for Mountain Tree. You can either buy it via the German rep or via iKoi in Italy. I have sent iKoi a few customers now. But there are custom taxes to pay due to Brexit. If you really want some, you can contact me via messenger (Facebook) I am under Lau Magro-Ford. I will explain better then.

    Sorry, but a bigger UV light ain't gonna help for your problem. the new multibay is. as you say the water is clear so every algae that float in the water is dead. the UV doesn't reach the pond walls/buttom. the reason these algae grow is that too many nutrients in the water. the multibay with a bigger bio not mechanical will help get rid of access nutritions.

      Hi, thanks for your message. This video is 11 months old.. if you watch recent videos, you will see that the system has not changed, just the media, and the water parameters are almost perfect, the water clarity is always commented on my videos. Fish are healthy and growing. All is perfect 😊
