This game destroyed me emotionally, but all the time I couldn't cry. Every time I wanted to, more shocking things happened and I'd go into a shocked/panicked state. This was the last quest I finished and when the Emil's started speaking, when I saw how much pain they've gone through, when the music started playing... When Emil called for his friend's name... I just lost it. I cried for one hour straight, it hurt SO much and I think that's when all the sadness I felt throughout the whole game finally hit. I cried for Emil, for Yorha, for 9S, 2B, and A2. For the operators. For Pascal , the children and adults from the Village. For Adam and Eve. For all the machines that couldn't handle existence. For humanity. For the world. For everything. This game can't be described in a single word or sentence, it goes much beyond that. It changed ,e and shook me to the core. Truly, one of the best experiences I've ever had in my entire life.
Same here this game (both Replicant and Automata) was like an out of world experience to me, especially the soundtrack it's so depressing and beautiful at the same time
Its just like life in this world it's bad and difficult yet in some way it's beautiful and we can't let go of it easily
I have played hundreds of video games in my life but Nier was more than just a video game for me it's something I will never forget about in my entire life I can't even say it's the best game ever made because Nier should be in a class of its own it's untouchable
This is heartbreaking. In the last Nier Replicant when Emil sacrifices himself, Emil wishes to see everyone one last time and says to himself, "I'm scared to die." But now the only way to see them is to die. ;-;
He didn't really died tho in the other route
He did see them for a good chunk of time after he killed Popola. Nier 1 actually has a pretty good ending. Even beyond what was added to the remake. But only as far as the company of friends and Yonah goes of course.

Watching this after finishing all endings on Replicant just hits differently... When I first played Automata, I didn't really understand the character of Emil and what this sidequest explained. Now that I completed Replicant.... It just breaks my heart...

I totally agree with you. I didn't know much of the lore behind Nier or Yoko Taro work prior to playing this. I just tried the demo when they had it available to DL on PS store and thought it seemed like a decent game I wanted to try when it was released.. and damn was I blown away by it. Truly a great game and I'm glad I was able to play it.

This is basically the "be a total dick to Emil" ending.
As a fan of the original ending Y really hurt.
It seems like Emil was just built to suffer.

Or did he belatedly recognize that 9S, 2B and their support mechanisms were designed based on his old friends? It's no accident the same voice actors are used.

I know this comment is 4 years old, but when 85,943,258 clones all explode their fusion reactors across the planet all at the same time, the world ends up completely and utterly fucked as a result. It makes sense when that many nukes happen simultaneously. No, I didn't make the number up. That's how many Emil clones were created.

typically that pre-emil fight in the caves will be the last weapon, since hes a lv99 mob but yes, if you dont have the weapon portion completed it wont trigger emil to show up in the those ruins to give you Emils Determination quest.

The Clapp i know this is old, but i’m a level 45 and kind of.. rushed into it a bit? haha. anyway, obviously i don’t have all weapons maxed out (i only HAVE about 9 of them, anyway), and through the second run through of the cave (after he says that he put all his valuables in a safe), he DOES pop up in the area where all the dead network bodies lay. clearly, i died about five minutes in, barely making a dent in his HP.. yikes
@@supermothabug If you want to hit Level 99 in about 40 minutes or 30 go do the Rabbit trick with 9s at the amusement park, just make sure you have some good EXP gain chips and good damage to awaken the bunny. Best level to do the trick is at level 65 but just look up the post patch method.

Already collected all weapons, fought emil for the first time at his home, got emil head, max all weapon, yet I can't find him at the abandon shopping complex. Can someone help? Did I do something wrong?
This is my first time doing so, and I really need to achieve ending Y (one of the three endings (aside from D and E) I havent got). I already followed all these, still can't find him.

I already visited his home to steal the mask with A2 and now he tells me that there was a thief but nothing more.
once you take his mask and talk to him, you gotta go back into room as 9S and hack his chest. that should trigger the Pre-fight with him in the caves.

This quest wasn't visible for me neither in ch14 with A2, I switched to ch 16 and that worked for me.
I think you also have to upgrade every weapon you got and then return to Emil. This'll trigger an event to happen and start a mission named after him if I remember

I was able to beat him only to know that he too will die...
even if he split his soul into pieces, Emil was actually the last human soul on Earth. that's why he was able to see his friends again in the end.
if you accept this quest as either 2B or 9S is it possible to then use chapter select and do it with A2 ?

I have maxed 100% weapons but I cannot get Emil to appear at the shopping mall as A2. I was able to complete this with 2B in my first round of game play, but something is amiss with this second game as I try to attempt with A2.

You have to get the Y ending first on a given playthrough, if you complete the quest you won't be able to do it again on that save file and have to start the game over.
bew, thats what im wondering. I dont think im going to have enough Meteorite in the first 3 playthroughs to upgrade everything to unlock the final fight. So even after 100% just about everything it would be a Huge waste to miss this quest because there wasnt enough junk the first way through.

Guys, I think I really messed up, because I defeated Emil underground and left without collecting the last weapon of the game (Emil's heads), and it isn't there anymore, am I completely screwed or is there still a way to get it?

Emil is a magic based super weapon and fought alien invasion for thousands years by multiplying himself. That didn't go well for his(their) memory, and sanity. In the ending his parts basically explode and destroy all life on the earth.

I Completed "Emil's Determination" quest and didn't let emil self destruct. I then proceeded to overwrite my save data.... Is there any way I can activate the final boss fight again? I have 80+ hrs into Nier and i'm so close to getting the plat trophy.... plz don't wanna start all over again ;-;

No. That's a different Emil boss fight. For ending Y, you need all the weapons in the game fully upgraded, then talk to Emil.

Shoot the last head with all of your pod laser. You can find it where there are the last health bar.

No. You have to kill the head that's exploding, otherwise you get Ending Y. You can't get ending Y after you complete the quest though, so keep that in mind.

@@slicky3397 I got it to work after some testing. I went to the become as gods chapter (right after forest kingdom chapter) and spoke to pascal and then anemone. And it seems that you literally just have to wait. I stood in the city ruins for about 30 minutes or so, didnt even talk to emil and went to check if the flower is in the shopping mall. Though emil waited there for emils determination quest. I didnt even have to do emils memories again.

EpicU™ Easiest way is by acquiring sachets. Lowest level sachet keeps the animals from running away, highest level makes them *wait* for you by transporters. It's awesome.

Depends on which chapter you use to embark on this endeavour.
The solo part is for A2 if you aren't heading towards the route for ending B or C I think.

You're gonna have to start a new game file since it's a side quest and once it's complete it's permanently gone.
You're supposed to let him explode and kill the entire planet, load up the file, fight and then actually kill him to get both ending & quest finish.

Well i spent a lot of time today trying to get the plat but ended up screwing up ending Y by completing the quest (i had no idea you had to let him explode). Thing is for these situations i have a spare save inside the tower before finishing my route c playthrough, with no emil quest started and a lot of weapons to upgrade. If i use that save, i can get Y ending there most likely right? Since it's another save (previous to me completing the emil quest). Also do you know if the "all endings" trophy needs to be done in one file or can be achieved with different files? Since i have all except y on my main save file, didn't want to go through all of them again in the secondary one lmao.

That's not why, he says "Kainé" because it's in reference to the previous games. Emil says one of the lines in Ending Y that was also quoted in the first game during the quest for searching for the keys to the Shadowlord's castle.

If you're using the chapter select, you need to actually talk to Emil again to trigger the doors to open.

Yes. Basically, you need to get the dialogue from Emil where he tells you he lives deep under ground. This triggers the door to open.

It doesn't work permanently, basically you have to talk to him each time you want to go down there. Also, it's best to do this as 9S since you'll need hacking for your second visit.
