    Thanks for your review of this! I have the 4888 and plan to add the unit that you have for a splitter as well.
    I appreciate your videos!

    Dude, thanks a ton for this! I was trying to use my ultranet port on my xr18 to get more analog outs for a splitter. Couldn’t find anything that would do this about a year ago when I was looking, and ended up buying splitter boxes… wish I had seen this last year!

    Hi, I'm really interested in doing this with my x32 rather than buying splitter snake. I've heard that the one challenge of doing this is is that FOH won't have access to preamp trims. Is there a way to tap the signal so they just get the raw input and can set their own preamp gain? Thanks!

    Thanks @stownproductions, very useful information about DN4816-O as Split Snake. I have a question: If I connect the Behringer X Air XR18 via USB to Logic Pro X (LPX) to record a multitrack live show using the guitar input (from one of the Hi-Z inputs) loaded with FX plug-ins in LPX (modeling, reverb, pedalboard, etc.), would the FOH (via the Midas DN4816-O using Ultranet connection) only receive a DI guitar, or would it also receive what I hear in the IEMs (with the FX plug-ins)?

    Can I just connect the ethernet connection with my macbook and use it as an output audio interface? Been looking for a budget output audio interface with 12 (xlr) outputs. Thanks for the answer!

      I don't believe this will work as it's not an Dante network device. All connections with this are solely for beginner/Midas family of products

    Why the output Ultranet on the nd4816-o Please explain. Thank you.... I'm very new to this and usually you go out of one piece of gear to the input of another. Again, please explain why you are going into the Ultranet Output on the ND416-O. :)

      Thanks you for your question. Only reason i use the ultranet is because I do not have the STAGECONNECT port on any of my mixers. It is currently exclusive to the Behringer Wing.

    Hello Darnell Thank you for your review Nice job ! There is not much information on the stage connect boxes. I was wondering if you have tried your new stage connect box as a splitter the way you wanted to for front of house? I was just informed through sweet water that the stage connect boxes only send line level signals NOT MIC LEVEL SIGNALS which means the FOH console will have to zero the house gain structure as the gain stage settings are set from the stage side of the system when using stage connect systems, NOT the FOH , so did this work for you ? if so how did you do it ? and how did it go ? Additionally My system is using 6 of the Midas DP48 s through AES -50 as when we tour we ran into all kinds of wifi traffic issues from show to show, so were getting ride of as much wifi as possible we use the AES-50 ports to the stage connect boxes however the gain staging is still set from our IEM side on stage , not the house side, which will make various Engineers pout a lot ...shoot me an email and I will get you my number so we can possibly figure this out together since MIdas and Behriger support is pitiful these days thank you for your time patvox1 at the g mail place hope to hear from you

      At first I thought using this for our IEM X32 Rack instead of some analog splitters would be smart idea, because it is much cheaper and it would be lot less cables. But several FOH guys in different forums and groups told me that it would be bad idea. As you mentioned there is the gain problem, where FOH is dependend on your monitor mixer settings. They don't like this at all. Also you would have an additional AD/DA-Conversion introducing additional latency and sound degration.
      I don't know if this is just conservative thinking of these FOH guys or if it would be really a problem.
      The advantage of analog splitters is that these are invisible for FOH from a mixing perspective. They don't need to change anything on their side (except some cables at the stagebox).

      @@ThomasAbts so the x-air mixer has an "analog" option for the ultranet outputs. Would that not then act as a traditional splitter or is the signal still being processed by the pre-amp and making it a line level?

    • @ThomasAbts
      @ThomasAbts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MattLunser I only know of the X32 variants, and there will always be a A/D convertion and back. So there is some processing. I don't see how x-air would work different, since these are quite similar to X32. AES50 is a digital protocol. I never heard of a analog option?

    • @MattLunser
      @MattLunser ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasAbts I believe your right. The X Air app has USB sends and even in the "analog" setting, the output is post the preamp.

  • @jouebien
    @jouebien ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah as professionals we'd all prefer splits through an analogue split. Screw having to deal with being upstream of anyone else's gains.

  • @DustinRadtke
    @DustinRadtke ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have an option for Anolog in either mixstation or the official app. Only In/LC so that's in with low cut. How did you get that option?

    • @DustinRadtke
      @DustinRadtke ปีที่แล้ว

      Acutally I figured it out. This option isn't on my X32 only my XR18. That's strange.

    what if you have more than 6 channels to send to foh

    • @stownproductions
      @stownproductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm Going to guess that you meant 16 Channels when answering this. Best case scenario would be merging a few channels to a bus and sending that bus to the ultranet rather than an input channel.
      I'd look at this as if you were maxing out all the channels on the XR/MR18 mixer

    Hey man ! Nice video... are you sure s-connect can carry 16in 16 out? I thought that it could carry 32 signals total ..no matter what ..for example 24in 8out , 8in 24out etc....

    • @patyaden4556
      @patyaden4556 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Stratos I thought i would try to answer your question s-connect is proprietary to Allen heath systems all companies have there own networking system protocols so you are kinda forced to use there products to get best results, the Midas stage connect boxes will only run from there own AES-50 or P-16 network protocals unless you get an adapter system to allow stage connect boxes to talk with the s-connect protocals .. typically the adapters for this use Dante as the universal network languages which are not very reasonable in price when you buy all necessary components hope this helps would hate to see more people buying non or barely supported products and learning the hard way that these systems are not plug and play hence the reason the Manufactures of today don't put out specific information just non informative quick start guides that don't really explain the actual capabilities of there products , so guys like Darnell and I and likely you are the industry test lab rats that take a chance it will do what we think it will do , read my comment to Darnell additionally the stage connect boxes only send line level signals not mic level signals ....uggg I think this is why there isnt much info on the stage connect boxes just the vague manufacturer generalized info (Whom don't even mention its line level only)
