    This unit adds a lot of functionality. For us mid level bands, it means having 16 analog direct outs available for FOH without hauling a huge heavy splitter snake. Thanks Drew!!

    It is worth mentioning that the Ultranet Output patch points can be routed to XLRs on the mixer and existing stage boxes (SD8, SD16, S16, S32) to give more than the 16 Bus outputs, IE for Matrix feeds to amps. The stage boxes have switches to select 1-8, 9-16, 17-24 output groups, but you can customise individual outputs in the User Output Patch in the Routing menu on the mixer.

      Is it possible to daisy chain the ultra net devices to get more i/o? Say I would rather run 3x DN4816's instead of an S32

    • @davidwellington4186
      @davidwellington4186 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ninethirtyone4264 According to the Midas website product page yes these units can be daisy chained. However an X32 has 16 Mix buss outputs (as Drew explains), so if you needed more than that, (perhaps you have a lot of stereo in-Ears to feed) additional DN4816-O would not increase number the available buss outputs. But you can sent other outputs from the X32 (main, mono, matrix, Aux, Direct ch) to DN4816-O. To get more Mix Buss outputs you can connect two X32s together (the X32 Rack is ideal for this with it’s small size and lower price)
      The DN4816-I and DN888 inputs only work with the Wing mixer ‘Stage Connect’ system, (not on X32) also they have no internal mic pre-amps, so for X32 you will still need S or SD AES50 stage boxes for Inputs. As all of the stage boxes have at least 8 outputs, so with several on stage that should cover you for monitor feeds etc as well.
      For large stage / band set ups I have 2 SD8 Downstage Front for front line Mics & Di’s (plus keys), and an SD16 on the drum riser for drum mics, back line amps etc (and keys if they are positioned up stage). If necessary I can add an X32 Rack that can be set up as a stage box with 16 I/p 8 o/p, plus 6 Aux Ins & 6 Aux Outs.
      Of course the X32 can’t mix all those inputs simultaneously, but different stage patches can be saved in Scenes, or Utility presets, for different band setups.
      Using a number of Stage boxes spread around the stage greatly reduces the amount of long XLR cables, particularly useful for keeping the stage tidy at Festivals. Up to 3 AES50 stage boxes can be daisy chained to each AES50 port (A&B) on the X32 mixer.
      Hope this helps.

    Hi Drew, been waiting for this one, thanks for giving some insights on how to use it.
    I have a question, if i use 5 Behringer Powerplay P16-M and add the DN4816-O as the 6th chain, can is use the ultranet on the P16's to send audio to the DN4816-O?

    Hello Drew! First of all, THANK YOU!!! You have helped thousands of people around the world for many many years with your knowledge of audio. You’re a brilliant man!
    I would like to request if you would do a 3 Console setup with the following: Behringer X32 (FOH), router & connected to a Behringer X32 (Broadcast console), routed & connected to another Behringer x32 console or X32 Rack (Stage mix Console). Please be detailed in the routing for all 3 points of connection if you will.
    Thank you drew! You’re the best

    Hello from canada! Your videos are very helpful my band my band is using an X32 rack with an s16 stage box for use with our IEM setup. Also at the end 4816 for use as a splitter when at venues without a compatible console. I'm sure have all the information I need in separate videos but perhaps a video for connection and routing for mobile band IEM X32 setups? Including using the auxiliary inputs on the back for additional instruments and the auxiliary outputs for stereo IEM outputs. As a mobile band the encounter many different scenarios. Including different routing and input user settings so that we can easily switch from one scenario to another depending on the venue needs. For example, at one venue we are running our own front of the house sound and monitors. Add another we are sending the venue 16 direct out and using our s16 and DN 48160 as a splitter. Add another they are sending a CAT 5 cable to our X32 as a monitor control. Each of these different setups also requires mapping so that we can access via the X32 for mixing station app on our phones would you consider a video that would basically be a One-Stop tutorial for mobile bands using IEM setups? When I am at home I can spend the time and wrap my head around the different connections and routing but when at an event and pressed for time this becomes very difficult. To be able to set up all these different scenarios as user input routings and presets to be able to easily and quickly select from one or the other in any scenario would be extremely helpful. Keep on making your great videos. Thank you so much.

    Hey drew. Off topic but I am having trouble getting reverb effects onto my post fader livestream mix bus. And not in the main PA. Our room is very verby so i dont want any effects in the house. X32 of course. Then the FX faders are down for the house, nothing comes through on the stream. Even if the sends on fader FX faders are up. Which is normal for everything else. Any tips?

    • @sounddoc92
      @sounddoc92 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      None of the mixbuses will get fx because your essentially sending the fx return back to mixbuses and if your fx return faders are down, you won't have any fx. The easiest way to get it done is to select the fx return(s) and turn off the Main/stereo and raise the fx return faders up. There won't be fx in the house but it will be there on your stream, monitors, etc

    • @baron1c

      @@sounddoc92 ok. Yea my crowd mics I turned off to main that way. I didn’t realize you could do that on the FX. I will give that a try. Thank you

    So here is my question, we have an x 32 rack and are running 6 p16 personal mixers. Those of course go from the ultra net out to the D 16 power play distribution module which has 8 channels. I have two open channels, can I run one channel out of the distribution module to the Midas 4816 for front of house?

    has anyone experienced every odd number channel outputting a lot of noise? bought a DN4816-O unit recently and it seem kinda buggy in terms of noise on the outputs, a re-boot helped, but it seems like every second or third boot up does this buggy noise thing :((

    If I added this unit could I provice a direct out XLR for a separate monitor mixer with this unit if the monitor was a different brand than Behringer/Midas? Maybe I would I be better off with a mic splitter? What do you think?

    • @robertrickman3531
      @robertrickman3531 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I plan on doing this. Have the Outputs on your DL32(?)Stage box be Direct Out's ch1-16 and route the DN-O to be Outputs vie U-Net to be ch17-32. However, you may have to burn a few CH for Mains if your not using separate "Drive Lines" (I have a 2nd EthCon cable installed that I'll use Sound Tools 'Cat-Tail'' for the 4ch I req for Mains..L-R-Sub-dlySub).

    I would like to request a video on "how to save and recal single channel settings..." However I have found that my Midas unit behaves differently. The red LED comes on and stays on seconds after powering the device, even if the Ultranet patch cable isn't even plugged in.
    I'll keep trying a few things here to see if it's otherwise fine.

    I have some questions for you about this device, and I would love to see a video that discusses options for an in ear rig.
    We use the Behringer X32 system and have P-16's for each of us. We use an SD16 up front and a SD8 in the back near the drums.
    When we play at venues that don't have our system, we want to use our system and send the FOH 14 channels for them to use.
    I have 16 outs already, 8 on each stage box. Since we are not using them, my thought is we could just assign each channel to an out (1-14) using IN/LC.
    Hopefully this would send a raw signal to FOH to use so we can use our system without affecting the FOH.
    Is there something I am missing to where this would not work? Is that where a DN4816-O is needed?
    Some of these venues still use analog boards and it is frustrating not being able to use our equipment. Thanks in advance, and keep up the great videos.

    I’m a Foh engineer for a touring band and our setup right now is an x32 rack on stage for monitors and I’m sharing gain to my foh console via cat 5. This is working great. But when we have to setup our pa in a pac center or old theater I’m having to send my output for speakers back to the deck via a second cat5 to a breakout box. This has been working fine as well but is there a way that I can integrate this stage connect box and only have to pull a single cat 5?

      Unfortunately, Ultranet on the X/M32 consoles do not accept inputs, what I'd keep an eye out for in this regard is a PCI card for StageConnect (to my knowledge one doesn't exist yet). Otherwise the current configuration of the X/M32 only allows these boxes to be used for outputs.

      Yes you can. I use 2 SD16 boxes as my stage boxes in most of my set-ups. You simply daisy chain them. So on my X32 Rack, I connect a shielded ACT5E ethercon cable to the "A" AES50 port on the mixer, and run that to the "A" port on the first SD16 box. I then connect a second shielded CAT5E ethercon cable to the "B" port of that first SD16 box and run it to the "A" port of the second SD16 box. Works perfectly.

    Maybe I don’t understand properly . Would I be able to use this as a drop snake for the Drums? Plug drum mics into this device , through ultra net , send it as an IN to the x32 routing to individual channels? Or is ultra net out only ?

    • @user_anthony
      @user_anthony ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overall no. This particular unit only has xlr outs so using it as an input device isnt possible
      The second thing is that the ultranet system on x32 devices only works as an output and not inputs. The ultranet section of the routing tab doesnt have any “inputs”, only the ability to tell the 16 channels of ultranet where to pull the audio source from (be it the main 32 inputs/aux inputs or bus sends or other audio channels).

    • @BastiaanRodenburg
      @BastiaanRodenburg ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need the Midas DN4816-I for that (I for inputs, O for outputs). There's also a mixed version of 8 input and 8 outputs available.

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The ultranet on the X32 is an output only. If you purchased the DN4816-I and the DN4816-O you could connect them through the StageConnect between the two units. But you would need to still connect it into the XLR of the console to get it into the X32.
      I’ll be making a video on this in the future!

    • @gil_carter
      @gil_carter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DrewBrashler But of course, the DN4816-I only accepts line level inputs. No Mic preamps inside the box, so it's back to a normal Behringer/Midas stage box for that. I still think that these units are fantastic additions to the range, kudos to Midas engineers for sneaking in compatibility with the older X32/M32 desks!
