    Hey everyone, thanks for watching. Looks like Presonus mixers are now available on Mixing Station! If you don't see it, be sure to do the update.

      At 18:26 you hit theme edit and get a screen that can change colors, etc. when I click on edit theme I get 2 long columns with no colors. I am using a Mac and PreSonus 24H series 3 mixer. What can I do to get the color edit features?

    Man… you have (by far) the best info to time ratio in TH-cam. You are like an mp3 or jpg: super compressed with no noticeable loss of quality. Thanks (once more) for your great videos. They are sooo useful! It’s very kind of you to take the time an share to learners across the world. Greetings from Argentina!

    We use Mixing Station at our church. Each player in the band has an iPad and we each mix our own in ears. Running it with A&H SQ. Works great. Love it!

      Provided you can lock them into bus mixes only. The X32 will do this but still, I wouldn't let our bands anywhere near an app that gives them access to the whole desk.
      We are on X32 and the band all use MXBus on their iPhones and tablets, it's all they need and the payware version gives them EQ and Dynamics, or MX-Q.

    the best feature of all -- it's only FIVE BUCKS for the pro version... i once mixed a show with MS on my phone using my car stereo -- the main outs were running patched to an FM transmitter as the band was playing before a drive-in movie during the pandemic...

    2 Best points of mixing station are custom layers and Re-Gain (on paid license). Re-Gain lets you adjust gain and will automatically adjust monitors/aux and FX the opposite way to compensate if the gain is in between the red lines. ((Basically you can tun up/down the gain and the monitors stay the same)) To use Re-gain press and hold gain to access gain window, then hit Re-Gain and adjust.

    Mixing Station was the very first thing I got after getting my XR-18. In my opinion, it is ESSENTIAL. Must have. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.
    Back when I was in a band, we used the permissions "personal monitor" feature so other members of the band could use their phones to connect and only get a specific bus mix. That way they could tailor their monitor mix the way they wanted it (more me!) without bugging me to do it for them, and since they could only see their bus (or whatever permissions you gave them), they couldn't accidentally screw up the main mix, other bus mixes or other settings.
    Great vid as usual!

    I started with the XR18 back in 2017 and upgraded to the X32 Rack in 2019 and have been using Mixing Station since way back then. Earlier this year I decided to pay for it to be able to customize it. I've made some good custom layouts for 2 of my bands and will be brushing up on more of that soon. Scott, have watched many of your videos, and when this one popped up, I knew it was time to go to school. I specifically bought a Soundcraft mixer because it doesn't require an app to control, just a browser, and much like you I work in a lot of different lineups, projects, with varying musicians. I didn't want there to be another step of them needing to get an app, but now seeing the power of Mixing Station, I'm thinking it's time to make a switch to an X32 and have everyone use this app to control. I've also run out of channels on the UI24R so growing pains for sure. but this app is a gamechanger, look how far we've come!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great overview of Mixing Station, Scott. I've been using it for a couple of years now; but, a lot of people were driven to it by the X-Air app being broken with the release iOS 16 (which has since been fixed... mostly). MS is a great app, but the documentation lacks a lot of detail on its use. I think this app is going to help a lot of people who have been struggling to better understand how to customize it.
    One suggestion I'd add for folks is that, when you're using a tablet where you have a little more screen real estate, if you add the "meter bridge" to your layout, you can use it select other channel groupings (e.g. mix busses, FX Sends, etc.) so you don't have to create specific layers for them.
    Once again, though, excellent review and overview!

    I learned Mixing Station by working with another sound engineer that doesn't use anything else, so I had to get use to it. As with everything there's a small learning curve, but once you get it, it's great. I still go back and forth between the M32 app and Mixing Station, but that's just how I learned. I do have one issue with Mixing Station and sometimes it's why I prefer M32, and that is that there is no tap delay button. I believe there is a hack to add some sort of tap delay, but it's not an intuitive hack. If you know how to add that in, that would be a very useful video to put out. Great content, thank you!

    WOW! I didn't know this app existed! I do live sound for music festivals, and most of the time I prefer to take my own Behringer X32, but there has been times where I've had to use whichever digital mixer they had at the venue....and since each one is slightly different, I tend to spend some time getting re-aquainted..this app could totally eliminate that step (obviously as long as the mixer works with it ) Thanks so much!

I prefer the laptop simply from a visual point of view because I am playing while running the PA and Stagetraxx 3 off an iPad. Tip for Custom Layouts. You can have different things happen based on Portrait or Landscape orientation. On the phone or tablet, you can switch to each mode (by rotating your device while orientation is unlocked) while in the layout designer in order to design for it. On a PC (and I'm assuming other desktops/laptops) you can resize the dimensions of the Mixing Station window to create a Portrait or Landscape aspect ratio and it will switch accordingly.

      Random side question - that I expect you to know or care to answer - we got the MIDAS MR18 and it doesn’t show up on the app list or in the license menu. Any ideas where to go next?
      I’ve connected via the wifi and the computer app but I’ve never been able to pass a signal. We’re trying to use it as a mixer for live or as an interface for recording with our music therapy clients for an adaptive rock band we have (folks with special needs). Any guesses on the best way to connect and pass sound? Tried a few tutorials - don’t want to have to return to Sweetwater but if it’s too fussy I don’t know if I can work with it.
      Long story short - if you want to do a virtual lesson via zoom we’d be interested in paying for your time for that.

    Hi Scott. My band still has an old analogue Behringer mixer & 20+ year old eq & feedback destroyer etc which I bought in the late 90's. We still use it in our practice room but want to update & buy a new digital mixer & set up a rack to get ready to gig again. We rarely have more than 8ch so a 16 would be plenty big enough. I already have 2 sets of NUX B-7 wireless in ears (because of your demo) but we want to add a couple more so all 4/5 of us have a good monitor. Do digital mixers have good enough in built EQ/feedback adjustment for the FOH so we don't need separate rack mount gear between the mixer & powered FOH?? What brands/models of mixer can you suggest that I look to buy since I am starting from scratch. Thanks very much in advance, Mark.

    Hey brother great content! This is very new to me. Thanks for the work put into this, and for clarity in some areas.
    Some suggestions if I may….
    Your content would be much easier to follow and digest if it was consistent with the “helper arrows, or animated circles you use”. While you might naturally talk fast and your brain may capture this quickly, as an educator or someone sharing this info, it was a bit challenging to follow at times.
    The impactful portion occurred when you took time to go through the content. I saw you placed some useful animation in, but for sure being consistent with those would help. That coupled with how fast you zip through some of this content (not a complaint, just observation) that made it challenging.
    I still subbed because this will be very useful, but think you can totally improve on some areas for sure. Hopefully you see the above as constructive criticism not negative complaints.
    Keep up the great work 👍🏾

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the suggestion 🤘 I do edit my videos fast because I personally cannot stand slow tutorial videos, so that’s a preference. I’m not actually a fast talker in general haha so that’s editing. But consistency in animations is a good idea. I try to color code things as much as possible, and some animations work better than others for what I’m trying to do. But consistency is a good suggestion. I appreciate it 👍
