    I love it I've been living in a camper for about four and a half years now and I've been thinking about getting a sailboat but I'm slowly starting to go for a pontoon boat something like you are doing that is so badass I can't wait to see the finished product

    Looking great! Thanks for sharing. I just finished my 28' pontoon houseboat. I went with composit walls made of plywood, filon and foam board glued together with contact cement. All electrical and plumbing was ran between the ceiling and roof. I went with 12v fridge. Tankless hot water. Marine head. Roof A/C and heat. 8ft x 16ft cabin My toons are 28" and the weight turned out perfect for just two. 60 hp mercury.
    I plan putting a video together on the build soon. Cheers from Oklahoma

      Hey, how well is the contact cement holding up. I was thinking about doing it with the same process. Did you make an aluminum frame? Would love to see a video.

      @@evanstaite1474 The contact cement is holding up great. Unfortunately I lost most of the videos I took during the construction.
      The walls were made with 3/8" ply then at the joints I used 1x6 and at the top and bottom then between the frame I glued in the 3/4" foam board then glued 1/4" paneling then I fiberglassed the joints on the outside. After it was all sanded I glued on the Filon. The overall thickness came to 1 1/2" . I will post a video today of a walkthrough I videoed the other day.

    that looks great. a small detail occured to me. some kind of lights that project onto the sides to keep the boat illuminated at night. I saw you had the regular anchorlite installed I was just thinking more light on the outer walls would be good to prevent accidents and it would also look nice.

    Does that front awning tilt down to provide a front window cover and/ or angel down for better aerodynamics when trailering on the road?
    Always wanted to build a Houseboat like that. Only my design has side walkways on both sides that pivot off the side upright corners in an "L" fashion with pontoons mounted to the bottom of the left and right "L. The pivot bearing would mount on the corner post about half way up so that the side deck would almost touc the roof in the folded postition. Raised and lowered with winches and cables.
    That would give it a wider deck and greater stability on the water. Plus be able to be cranked up, to keep it narrow and roadable. The only downside is it they would put the CG up a lot higher when trailering.
    Always fanticized about running up and down the Mississippi like Huck Finn on it.

    • @sawsolutionsinc
      @sawsolutionsinc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The awning doesn't move. However the four panels are held in with wings nuts so super quick to remove the panels for a long drive.

    I have been thinking about doing the same thing in my design as far as using aluminum for wall studs and roof trusses. The potential cost of aluminum versus other methods is holding me back a bit. If you don't mind sharing, could you give us some information about the cost of all the aluminum?

    • @sawsolutionsinc
      @sawsolutionsinc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will have to look it up. One thing to keep in mind is condensation on the aluminum. I had to put an extra half inch of sm insulation above the ceiling after a change in weather caused excessive condensation to form on the trusses.

    • @_onesimpleidea
      @_onesimpleidea 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sawsolutionsinc Interesting point. Do you think that happened due to the different surface texture of the aluminum, versus wood for example? Makes me wonder if, in your case, you would have gotten a similar result (condensation) had you built from wood, but finished the surface smoothly with paint, etc? Looking forward to following your build.

And then there are the barking dogs, and neighbors that want everyone to listen to their music. I've pretty much grown tired of it and I'm looking for an alternative.

    • @sawsolutionsinc

    Looks Great! Thank goodness; Someone understands a 6 foot ceiling is good enough. Why have an extra foot or two when you only use it .1% of the time and having tipping and clearance power the other 99.9% of the time.
    I think they have solar panels that you can walk on if they're installed directly to a solid decking.
