Before the Cricut & Cuttlebug was the red machine. Come celebrate a blast from the past as I test & Review this awesome yard sale find for only 5 bucks spanking brand new.
Totally appreciate this video! I just pulled out my 2004 Sizzix die cutter and all of my diecuts in their original packaging. This gives me motivation to resume my card making craft that I enjoy so much. Thank you so much for this refresher course. 🌹
Rewatching your tutorial. Over the last few months I have learned how to sharpen paper punches! That process will work on these older Sizzex dies! Just get aluminum foil fold several times & cut out, keep cutting out till blades are sharp again! You can also use a light weight foil pan!
So glad I found you. Reorganizing my crafting areas and found the original Sizzix die cutter(must weigh close to 15 lbs) I had forgotten how to use it. Thanks so much for my renewed interest.
Thank you for the great video. I just scored one of these diecut machines at a thrift store for $10 and it included lots and lots of cartridges so I had no idea how to use it. Now I know exactly how and I know I’m missing one piece. I will have to create my own slide to go underneath the Sizzix. But without your video I wouldn’t have even known what to do. Thanks!
Oh wow this is so helpful! I got this machine from my stepmoms estate and am trying to use it in sewing class for fabric. Ive been using the cies wrong :P THANKS!
Thank you so much! I bought some dies at Goodwill thinking they would be compatible with the machine at my school. They’re not, so now I am looking at getting a machine inexpensively.
Felicia, I never purchased anything but sizzlits for use with my machine. I've got about four or five sets of alphabets and numbers (script, block, etc.) and a few shapes. That was the beginning of my obsession with crafting in the early days of HSN. Lol
I was about to put the one I have up for sale! I’m keeping now! Someone gave it to me and it has soo many shapes, I didn’t even know what they are called. That’s why I’m here watching TH-cam videos
Just bought one for 2.99 brand new and never opened. Came with the shim and white cutting plate. I’m excited to give it a try. I own cricut express, cricut explore and cricut maker. I use all of them and at times all at once lol. I do a lot of projects. I’m super excited about using this machine. Now I’m looking for the different dies
ha!! you found an original for $5!! yes, this was well before my time in scrapping - i never knew about or owned the original ANYTHING, but it's nice to see it and I would have snatched it up, too, for the price. Not sure I would have used it though, but glad you showed us how it works!
Pretty cool, great buy. I still have mine : ) I don't think I ever had any problems cutting through any kind of paper with any of the color of dies............. I still have only red dies though now........
I still have my machine and dies. Have not used it for a long time be remember I was able to cut 4 - 5 pieces of card stock at one time. I loved using felt with this machine
I have the ORIGINAL 'Sizzix' from around 1998, maybe before; I thought about crafting at that time. Costly, also at that time. Since then, I had ~~ absolutely forgotten ~~ about it until 4 months ago when I found it >> stored away
I still have my Sizzix Personal Die Cutter and I'm trying to come up with a way to use the new thin die cuts with it? Have you tried the thin die cuts?
Just bought one second/maybe third hand!.. Please tell me how your original machine broke? Would love to get some dies for mine, so expensive with shipping to Canada. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MACHINE (better than ice-cream turning) 🙏🏽
I have a bunch of dies I would sell you, but I have no idea how much it would cost to mail them to Canada. They are a bit heavy as well. Maybe I could talk my husband into a trip 🤗. Canada is such a Beautiful place. 💖
Hi I just received as a very special gift a machine exactly like yours. It it is not in mint condition though. I have a question : Can I cut shapes of fabric which has been stiffened like with Mod Podge ? I use it diluted in water to prepare my fabric. BTW... Great video !!!Please help!
I got a brand new one, still in the box, and some alphabet/number dies. I followed the directions, even putting a shim underneath but when the handle is moved to cut, it does not even lower enough to cut anything. Is it possible this is a broken machine?
Girl, you got a bargain at just $5. I bought this die cutting machine, a whole brand new set of Sizzix Lollipop UPPERCASE Alphabet Set, a tall swivel storage rack with 7 red dies, 2 green dies and 1 yellow die, plus a Sizzlits red storage case and 4 Sizzlits dies for $20 today. I got home and started watching your video of how to use it and realized the white base board is missing so I cannot not cut out anything. 😩 I messaged the lady on FB Marketplace and asked if she had it laying around anywhere because I can’t cut anything without it. Fingers crossed she will find it, eh? 🤞
I never had this one. I worked in a scrapbook store that had a huge Comercial one. But, I do still have my original Quickcutz. And the revolution platform. Both Manual. I skipped right over their version of an electronic die cut machine, the silhouette to a cricut. I mainly use my vagabond now.
You can still get dies for this machine on eBay, a couple of days ago I came across someone from here in the UK selling a big job lot of about 50 or 60 the small square dies don't know if they would post to USA/ Canada. I've not seen one of these old sizzix before.
Hey, I just got a whole box of the red dies yesterday all for 7.00 the machine was with it but I told the lady that i didn't want the machine just the dies, now I wish I would of got the machine also, I was thinking i could use the dies with my machine i already have the we r memories keeper I hope I can!
Yep. I have had mine for yonks. only had the 2 dies though , so didn't use it for ages. Got a little adaptor off ebay, and depending on what you are cutting through, keep a couple of shims handy, and just have a play. I can use all the dies I have for my electric cutter. It's not electric and pretty basic, but you cant hurt it. hope that helps.
Anyone else reading this, Someone on eBay I'm buying from at the moment is also selling an original alphabet set of dies for this machine for £10.00 that's UK pounds, in a sturdy plastic box. I'm not buying dies from her so I won't be buying this. I don't know if she posts to USA/ Canada. original dies for this machine are frequently available on eBay. I'm finding them and I'm not even looking for them.
So grateful for the GinaK! This was interesting, thank you! I wondered how it all began.
Just got an entire set of alllllll kinds of stuff today from a friend. I am STOKED! There are so many things
Is it still working ok? 😊

How did your machine break please??
Seems too heavy duty to break so I'm really curious.

Can you use this machine with non sizzix dies?
You can but results will vary and be contingent upon what shims used as this wasn't made for wafer thin dies but for steel rule dies. Blessings...
It does state. Does

It weighs too much!!! Builds muscles just lifting it around. Mine is in storage but I still use some of my dies. They cut just about anything.
