  • Hello everyone! Now my secret is revealed!!! In this video I show you how to cut dies without using a die cutting machine. I do not own a machine with a big slot and I have tried cutting my big dies with many objects and this is the best of all! If you want to use your dies very often please consider investing in a die cutting machine. Thanks for watching, please leave a comment, Like, and Subscribe to my channel for New ideas and inspirational projects!

    Thank you for your comments!
    Many people ask me if they can use a metal knife, a metal ruler, or a stone to rub on the die cuts, and I DO NOT recommend to do that because dies are metal and have a sharp edge, if you use metal or a stone to rub against your dies it will degrade the sharpness of them and eventually your dies will became dull and won’t cut anymore. You can use any hard plastic instead, since this is a softer element it will get worn, but it will preserve the life of your dies.
    Have fun crafting 💕

    This is the first time I have seen someone do this. The companies that make the machines will not be very happy with this. But, it is an amazing idea. Especially for those who cannot afford to get a machine. Who would have thought this could be done? Great idea and so helpful.

    This was very useful. I am a casual crafter and want to use a few REALLY simple die cuts, but didn't want to invest in the machine. I was wondering if something like this would be possible. I still think for those who want to do small flourishes, the machine makes sense but I just want simple circle, oval, square, rectangle shapes to make border cut outs. This should work fine for me. Thanks again!

    I saw another person Mandy was her name use the bach end of the handle of a butter knife instead of using a bone folder - thought that was a great tip as well if you don't have a bone folder! & she also lightly sprayed a water mist over her paper with using the embossing folders & went over that with the back of a spoon to get a great effect from that as well! I'm so glad that I searched for ways to use these awesome things in my crafting without worrying about the money to spend on these machines! Thank you so much for sharing the secrets 💜😁

    Great idea! If you want to take away those used ridges on your bone folder, gently rub over it with sandpaper, it may take a few times, but you will get a nice edge back that will make it last longer. xxx

    I think it’s funny how many people in the comments are so shocked that this can be done by hand! 😂 ❤ There was a world of scrapbooking before these machines were being mass produced for the average consumer. The ladies I knew back in the 80’s and 90’s were absolute pro’s at cutting and embossing by hand. It’s becoming a lost art form imo! Hats off to all of you willing to learn this too. It’s a real talent in my view. Hand made and not mass produced is always better. ❤

  • @minikraut
    @minikraut 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    That is SUCH a great idea!
    I am a happy owner of a die cutting maching that can do large cutting dies and followed the link because I have some extras/doubles of regular cutting dies which I'd love to give away to friends in the neighbourhood , but they don't own a machine at all (but they all have a proper bone folder or two by now after crafting with me!). So at first I felt the title was a bit misleading, thinking this would be for extremly simple shapes, but I was wrong.
    And your ideas takes all the frustration out of a cut with the machine that didn't quite work out.
    Thank you, thank you!
