Confused the hell out of my friends that I knew the words on first hearing of Wet Wet Wets version😂😂. My parents had a fantastic record collection of original releases.
Also think J. You have an INTERNATIONAL audience - so WE are all around YOU - giving YOU care & support - in numbers most people cannot even imagine ever receiving. Let THAT sink into you - in your autumn leaves world. 💞
Yes, yes, yes. And I'd add : "I just sing", "Little girl", "I want you", "Give it to me", "I love you baby", "Night of the long grass home", "You can cry if you want", "Feels like a woman", ""I do do", "Last night", "Widge you", "Our love will still be there", "Jaguar and thunderbird", "I can only give you everything", "The raver", etc.
Reg Presley RIP, the front man of the Troggs wrote Wild Thing which was a big hit for the group! However many Artists covered it including Jimi Hendrix!
Better a few inches of snow than ripping winds driving flames. So. Cal is getting its turn. We had ours up in her Nor Cal the past few years. Enjoy your snow.
So many people here seem to think this isnt the original but it is. Reg Presley, lead singer of the Troggs, wrote "Love Is All Around" in about ten minutes, inspired by a TV broadcast of the Salvation Army band Joystrings performing an evangelical song titled "Love That's All Around". The Troggs recorded Presley's song at Pye Studios for the record label Page One owned by their manager Larry Page, who also produced the recording. The single was released in the UK in October 1967. It was later famously covered in the Film 4 Weddings and became a huge hit second time round. Presley donated all the royalties to his pet hobby and organisation researching UFOs & crop circles ;-)
This was the lower of their two top ten hits in America. I believe this made it to #7. I shouldn't have to tell you what hit of theirs made it all the way to number one because you're going to see it mentioned in close to half of the comments you get I imagine. Instead of mentioning that again, I'll go way deep into their catalog and suggest (after you do "Wild Thing" of course) a song called "Little Red Donkey". Another fun one is "The Kitty Cat Song".
That was my first thought, too. Not 1964. Bummer about the confusion, because their original is wonderful, and the recording he listened to was not that.
I was fortunate enough to see The Troggs in 1972 in a tiny club in the N of England, just past their peak years. The place was so packed that I ended up sat on a chair on side of the actual stage, 6 feet from the band. They were amazing and played hit after hit just like the records, including Reg Presley playing that weird Incan flute on Wild Thing. Fabulous night of real Rock and Roll. ✌️
I've heard this many years ago, the "feel it in my fingers and in my toes" and I was like (DING) the light came on and I knew that I've heard this before ! This is the kind of music the Troggs were known for, not hard rock but smooth fun soft rock !
The original artist but re-recorded. I noticed a few CDs I purchased in the past did this (Juice Newton & B.J.Thomas) and they were disappointing because it wasn't what I listened to on the radio so many times. Wild Thing was the Trigger biggest song in America.
Great tune. Thanks! Then definitely do "Wild Thing", which was written by Chip Taylor who also wrote "Angel Of The Morning" and "I Can't Let Go". Now for some nice Troggs music. Different production than I recall. Thanks.
My home town band they were often raw & rough live but always great to dance to, also they were all very nice people. Yeah "Wild Thing" next or "I Can't Control Myself"
You tube Channel Another prof has the original 45 version of this song. I would recommend listening to that version. It's authentic sounding and the older instruments playing. Also plays a great violin in the background.
The Troggs were part of the Garage Rock/First Wasve of Punk. Wild Thing was their biggest hit. This seems to be smougher re-recorded version (they were much rawer, also on the original version). Other songs to check out definitely: With a Girl like You, Hi Hi Hazel, Night of the Long Grass, I Can't Control Myself.
This isn't exactly how I remember the sound of this song. Sounds like a remix! It's a bit brighter and there's some sort of woodwind instrument I didn't notice before. The main thing I liked was that guitar sound. It sounds like someone detuned their guitar just a smidge to give the guitars together a chorus effect. Nowadays they have chorus pedals for that!
Yeah You are right Jay.....We are suggesting and requesting a lot of love songs lately and I don't know why...maybe we or I feel some unpending doom on us as humans or we are trying to evoke "LOVE" I have not idea.....any way pray us out here in California as LA is Burning from Winter Fires(isn't this event ironic) people are on the streets bewildered whole cities have been wiped out...looking like Hiroshima from WWll..It is awful.....I am here in Northern California is great winter cold sunny weather, but in Southern and Central California ......AwFUL!!! Pray for us!!!
Glad to see the Troggs on this channel. Nice comparison Jay with what you said about the music and fall weather. I'm not a music expert, I'm just stating my findings, but I think the Troggs are an important and influential band in (English) music history. "Wild Thing", "I Can't Control Myself", "With a Girl Like You" are definitely songs to check out!
Classic track from the 60's by the Troggs. A cover version of this song by Wet Wet Wet was the Title track from the Film '4 Weddings and a Funeral.' Another 60's band I'm not sure you have covered is Manfred Mann. Checkout 'The Mighty Quinn' or '54321'
"With a Girl Like You" an international hit single released back in 1966 is smokin' hot for that time period by 'The Troggs'. The repeating heavy guitar riff sinks deep down in your soul. 'The Troggs' were included among the many British invasion male and female artists and bands that flooded America with their chart-topping hits during the 1960's. 💫🎤🎸🥁🔊⚡🔥☮📻🎧
You will get a lot of requests for their big 1966 hit "Wild Thing" written by Chip Taylor who was Jon Voight's brother and hence Angelina Jolie's uncle. You then must checkout Jimi Hendrix doing "Wild Thing" live at The Monterey Pop Festival, where you reacted to him doing "Hey Joe".
So you've never done "Wild Thing", then? Rectify that, y'all! :) (We keep getting teased w. snow in S. Carolina. I think it's just more freezing rain tonight, though.) RIP, Reg Presley. What a great voice. Wild Thing (#1) and this (#7) were their only US hits, but they had other successes in the UK. "With a Girl Like You" was #1 over there, "I Can't Control Myself" a #2, and "Any Way That You Want Me" a #8.. (Perhaps you tried to do "Wild Thing" and it got blocked?)
DON'T FORGET, J. You have an INTERNATIONAL audience! You can't imagine what BUFFALO goes through with winter weather? - why don't you think FURTHER NORTH - up to where your CANADIAN AUDIENCE IS - & what kind of WINTER WEATHER WE GET! (You would probably be terrified by some of it! 😄) Do you know what - 40 C (or Farenheit would be like? That is what I said - MINUS) or what it would be like to have a FULL WALL OF SNOW outside, with the imprint of your front door on it (that makes a nice extra fridge while it lasts?) Nevertheless, cold weather is still cold weather & we complain about it too. It all depends what you are used to - although Canadians still go out in it & enjoy winter activities - & then come home for a hot chocolate/coffee or tea to warm back up.
👍 Completely different than their huge hit Wild Thing. I really dug this 💎 back in the day , still do. Thxs for shining light on a beautiful forgotten song as you do quite often, appreciate it!
There was a baseball movie I think Emilio Estavez or maybe his brother whos name escapes me but his character on 2 1/2 men was Charley ,played a pitcher and when he entered the field they played the song Wild Thing over the loudspeakers to hype the crowd. I think the movie was called Wild thing but not sure
It IS surprising that you haven't heard Wild Thing yet. In this country at least, they are "two hit wonders". This song was featured in "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and a Christmas parody of it plays a major role in "Love Actually" (starting in the first minutes).
This version sounds sounds like they're generic version. It sounds way off. They must have remade they're own song. The original radio version is the version I'm used to hearing.
I have never left two comments but you played two great songs with two great groups. Love this song and you should listen to Wild Thing another great song from them. Hope your doing well.
THIS IS A RE-RECORDING ..NOT THE ORIGINAL 1968 VERSION! 😮😮😮,.......th-cam.com/video/WO6glz0wpmo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aEYD6HyeCO4i21gi..here is the correct version!
I hear a cover of this song at work all the time, but haven't heard the original in years. Used to play my 45 all the time. It was such a contrast from "Wild Thing". Thanks, Jay. Great song by the Troggs! However, the year would have been 1967 and not 1964. This is slightly different from the original, perhaps they might have re-recorded it. Wild Thing would be the obvious next choice by this group.
This is a different version than I am used to hearing, but still very nice. Yes..........please do "Wild Thing". I am certain you have heard it sometime/somewhere.
You gotta' do "Wild Thing" by the Troggs. A garage band classic
Ahh yeah - wild thing - makes my heart sing
Kinda shocked he hasn't covered it, yet.
Also, Give It To Me, With a Girl Like You, I Can't Control Myself and Anyway That You Want Me.
WILD THING is a classic!!!!!
The TROGGS!!!👍
1966 suggestion - "Walk Away Renee" by Left Banke.
Great song and suggestion, but I would like to add "Pretty Ballerina" which I like a little bit more.
@DonnaKubiski Yes, I preferred Pretty Ballerina too.
Wet Wet Wet did a great cover of this for the movie "Four Weddings and a Funeral". It was on the charts for weeks and weeks.
Yes. Also, R.E.M. has also performed a live cover version. I believe it was performed on their MTV Unplugged.
I liked their version
Confused the hell out of my friends that I knew the words on first hearing of Wet Wet Wets version😂😂. My parents had a fantastic record collection of original releases.
"Four Weddings and a Funeral" would be a great movie to watch for the movie channel. A very funny movie.
Actually in my opinion a little better job on the song than the Troggs.
Love their "wild thing" too
Wild Thing by Troggs was more well-known, but I love this one as much. Haven't heard it in SO Long! Great Reaction.
This song was used in the movie "Love Actual"
Love Actually ;)
Gotta do Wild Thing ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
The original recording of this song is so much better.
Wet Wet Wet spent 15 weeks at No1 in the UK singles chart with their cover in 1994. An all time classic which surpasses any other version.
This song will now always remind me of Love Actually
Also think J. You have an INTERNATIONAL audience - so WE are all around YOU - giving YOU care & support - in numbers most people cannot even imagine ever receiving. Let THAT sink into you - in your autumn leaves world. 💞
Hard to believe this is the same group that performed "Wild Thing"
❤🎉❤I agree, they are SO talented!!💕🎶💓
This is a re-record. You need to do the original version.
I heard the first few notes and stopped watching. Definitely not the original.
Not the original single
@@LarryGonzalez00 I agree. This version is way off. This version sounds so flat and dull .
This sounds like a later, re-recorded version.
Doesn't sound like the Troggs. Sounds like a cover.
This is definitely not the original version. The original is better.
@@memorylane7068 It is.
"With A Girl Like You", "I Can't Control Myself, "Wild Thing", "Any Way That You Want Me" a few more to check out sometime ❤😊
Love Actually, Bill Nighy.
That's right. I thought it sounded different. Not the original version that I recall. 😮.
This is a re-recording of the song by The Troggs. The re-recording was done in the 1980s.
Driving around in a convertible on a soft summer day listening to "Love Is All Around".
Used in Love Actually with lyrics changed for Christmas.
Reg Presley RIP, the front man of the Troggs wrote Wild Thing which was a big hit for the group! However many Artists covered it including Jimi Hendrix!
One of the greatest 60s songs often overlooked.
The Troggsdid the original version of Wild Thing in the 60s
This song was redone in the ‘80’sish by a band called Wet Wet Wet. It’s a good version as well.
Better a few inches of snow than ripping winds driving flames. So. Cal is getting its turn. We had ours up in her Nor Cal the past few years. Enjoy your snow.
Just imagine how we made it work with just the minimal amount of instruments !! You can understand the words !!
Awesome choice - Thank you!
Just imagine how we made it work with just the minimal amount of instruments !!
Do the Troggs Wild Thing. Then after that, do Jimi Hendrix's version.

This is done by a band called Love Actually, who only does remakes.
I can't help but think of the movie "Love Actually" when I hear this song. 😂👍
Loved this group when they started back in my day. Best era of music!!! This was my favorite of theirs because of the sweetness of it.❤
Beau Brummell - songs Laugh Laugh and the song Just a Little . More Brit invasion of the 60’s
And another Brit invasion group was Freddie and the Dreamers. Englands version of Buddy Holly. Songs -I’ m telling you now , and Do the Freddie
Sounds a little bit off. I wonder if this is a re-recording.

This song could keep the emotions soaring in the heart of a 16 year old boy in 66.
Yes, "Wild Thing" by The Troggs, and then the 1980's "Wild Thing" cover by Sam Kinison.
