Evidently, when one gets older, the tummy shrinks -- at least I'm finding it out. What I used to polish off in one sitting I now take 1/2 of it home for another meal, and sometimes 2 meals. The senior menu is just smaller portions for less $.
Yes, seniors’ menus are quite common at diners and coffee shops. Usually starts at age 55; often it is served early (e.g., 16:00-19:00). Smaller portions at reduced prices.
Right; I think you can only get the senior menu at the early hours. Since I’m 80, I ought to know but I haven’t personally lost my apetite yet (don’t wear diapers yet either but when I happen to walk down the drug store isle with adult diapers I walk fast and try to maintain an “I’m just here because I’m lost” look). And living in San Francisco, I’m very familiar with Astroglide. Here they put it in the front display windows.
Sometime in the future… Milly walks up to Archie’s school in a neon yellow tracksuit. Milly: Archie?! Archie’s mate: Arch, is that your mum? 12 year old Archie: OMG, MUM! WHY?!
It's Foxworthy. Senior menus are adult foods, but smaller portions at a cheaper price and usually served early evening, because a lot of seniors go to early bird specials. Anybody can actually order from that menu, if you are there at the designated time.
@thomasmacdiarmid8251 I've seen and own a mini fridge, they hold very little items, unless for a "mancave" you purchase a restored cabinet cooler that used to be in stores (old metal coolers with flip top lids)
It's called price discrimination in economics. Most families choose the restaurant based if they are with their elders/parents or very young kids on their preferences and not their own. A restaurant can capture the business of a large family/party by catering to key demographics. For example, those with infants really appreciate restaurants with great bathrooms with changing tables, etc.
Companies can send exclusionary or inclusionary vibes. These are ways of saying you are welcome or not, or how they want you to behave. A business that wants your business should make your life easier and deliver value.
I can't believe how many people have no concept about senior menus. They offer options for common seniors health concerns; salt free, mild or no spices, diabetic options, etc. It is about offering what alternatives many seniors need, not money grab.
Jeff Foxworthy is very well known here. He actually had a television show at one time. He never uses bad language. I may be a little biased because he is a native of Georgia. Which is the same state I am a native of. You should watch the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour". It is Jeff, Larry The Cable Guy, Ron White and Bill Engvall.
2:40 "Do Seniors And Kids Have Their Own Menus At Restaurants In America" Yes they do. Typically, the elder adults will have certain things on their menus due to their having a fixed income or a special dietary plan for them
The cross eyed guy reminds me of a guy I used to work with who had a lazy eye. I don't mean to joke but every time he was talking to me I really thought he was talking to someone behind me.
James please look for a recollection road video Life in America Drive Ins. These were drive in cinemas that were once very popular in America. You watched movies while sitting in your car. Parents would often bathe and put their young children in their jammies and go to these when it got dark the movie would start. There were concessions there as well. Cartoons at first for the young ones, then two movies with a break between so people could go to the bathroom and buy food to take back to the car. Some had a playground for the children to keep them busy until it got dark. Please have a look. Thankyou.
Since the senior menu was brought up, I'm curious now whether there is something similar in the UK. I've heard the term, pensioner used. Are there discounts for older folks in the UK? For things like public transportation or movie ticket prices?
@RealDiehl99, I have watched British TV for a couple of decades. When elderly Brits are in a nursing home they refer to them as inmates! Our language differences blow my mind on occasion.
Do Larry the cable next! You could even look up blue collar comedy tour, the most American comedy out there! (Jeff foxworthy, Larry the cable guy, ron white and bill engvall) What comedians do you like in the uk?

@buddystewart2020, you are right. My sister is currently trying to take care of her father in law who has dementia. Even when the doctor told him he had dementia, he refused to believe it. He likes to run around on his front lawn naked. And that is the least of it. But we have to have some humor to laugh and release stress, don't we?
@@scorpiouk5914 ... Well, I didn't have a lot of humor, maybe that was my shortcoming, I found it all difficult and draining. But I also knew it was the right thing to do. Just some marital advice… never, but NEVER! Buy single recliners. It “IS” the single most detrimental thing to EVER happen in a solid marriage! I tried to get my wife to buy a reclining loveseat (fits two) but nooooooooo. I haven’t touched her in 30 years.

Jeff has always been a well-known comedian in the US!
A lot of restaurants will offer senior menus which are simply smaller portions of their regular fare.

There are senior menus and/or senior discounts.
James and Millie,
The one recliner I saw that made sense was what they call a movie theater seat thick padding and of course a cup holder built in.
You didn't check out those that have a mini-fridge built in for drinks and snacks?
@thomasmacdiarmid8251 I've seen and own a mini fridge, they hold very little items, unless for a "mancave" you purchase a restored cabinet cooler that used to be in stores (old metal coolers with flip top lids)
In addition to his stand-up comedy routines, he used to MC (master of ceremonies) a TV program called "Are you smarter than a 5th. grader?"
Senior discounts are a real thing.
Senior menus are not a thing at fast food places but at sit down restaurants some do.
Jeff Foxworthy had his own sitcom and hosted "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader."

The only bad thing about recliners is that they are a lot heavier lol
Talking about the diapers, they say Japan now has more old people in diapers than babies in them. This is actually a serious problem.
