Thank you! Exactly what I was hoping to find for guidance. I have the shop manual, but I've never done an impeller replacement (my H2 is air cooled), so looking for any and all help I can find. What is the tube coming up out of the water tube guide though? Don't see that in my manual. My 9.9 is a 2001, so maybe that stays with the exhaust housing?
Oh, not sure if it matters, but my 9.9 is a short shaft (I think?). Also, I loved your use of the truck bed to gate gap for holding the lower unit! I'm going to have to do my replacement with the motor on the motor mount of a sailboat, in a rather rolly marina. I do have a motor stand for this o/b, and I think I will bring it along just in case I have to pull the motor off the mount for the job.
The tube is how the water gets from my intake at the bottom of the skeg up to the engine so you shouldn't have that I'm guessing since yours is air cooled............

So that slow of a flow is a good impeller?
Yes its slow as the engine is just at idle............it pumps faster as you increase the load on the engine.
