If we had Renegade's customisation with Elite's updated features but through the overall gameplay, sounds, animations and aesthetic of Battlefront 2 (with the console version's voice lines), we'd have the ultimate experience.
Personally, I must hand it over to the Renegade Squadron. Although the controls feel a bit clunky, the customization system adds so much fun and variety to gameplay. The one major downside is lightsaber combat, the hero animations glitch frequently and attacks have no impact it feels like you're controlling a drunk man swinging a baseball bat! I'm yet to play Elite Squadron but I've heard a major downside to the "improved" load out system is that most items are unlocked through playing online multiplayer... Good luck with that in 2023!.. Oh and then there's BF2, definitely the one I'm most nostalgic for and one that offers the smoothest controls, I love how it plays but the lack of loadout customization means the game gets stale and repetitive, but it's always fun to revisit from time to time even for galactic conquest alone.
Thanks for the video I'm deep diving into what the psp has to offer as of recently branching off of my usual psx emulation on the psp. Your tactics ogre videos are super helpful and this has motivated me to try out the bfront collection offered on the psp!
Awesome vid!! I always had a soft spot for BF2 because it was my first, and I had great memories of the FPS gameplay, and sabrefights in Mos Eisley. But Elite Squadron is the absolute best! The sheer ambitiousness of it, and the fact that it's the most polished of the 3! I can't believe it got so overlooked by critics.
The only thing you didn't mention is that Renegade and Elite Squadron both squish BF2 maps down to smaller sizes, likely to have the space part work. BF2 for PSP has all full sized PS2 game maps which play alot better if you're focused on infantry combat. Also if you play on a Vita, using the second thumbstick works best on BF2 since it wants more precise aiming.
Bf2 although not the best in many areas, feels cool to play because theirs a real PC, Xbox, and PS2 counter part. The fact that it’s a “Demake” makes it definitive version for me haha.

I allways liked the gc in renegade squadron, the ability to garison and attack with specific numbers adds a nice tactical touch, makeing you or your oponent to pick targets more carefully to avoid leaving planets exposed
Same here!!! I only wish it would have had a Clone Wars variant. It's easily my favorite version of Galactic Conquest. You lose the fleet mechanic stuff, but it's basically a true evolutionary sequel of the GC mode in the first Battlefront from 2004.
I always felt like Renegade Squadron was the best. Extremely underrated. Better maps. Better story. Better heroes. Better Galactic Conquest. Elite Squadron was innovative, but the space to ground maps got old pretty quickly.

If your emulating elite squadron you can use a cheat to add more AI in elite squadron up to 20 in total and trust me it gets hard especially in Jedi master difficulty also the controls for infantry is weird default is nice for open combat but close combat alternate is better, but believe it or not I beat the campaign on Jedi master on my phone using touch controls c: a true pro

@@CoffeePotato I had battlefront 2 and I enjoyed a lot but I haven't tried the other ones yet. Do you if force unleashed has bad framerate on the psp because I am playing it on the vita an the framerate is horrible. But gran turismo runs perfect

BF2 PSP isn't great, but the others were pretty solid. Comment doesn't make much sense in a video about technically 4 different games. That BF2 Restored mod is awesome though.

Battlefront is made on an engine that has roots in the late-90s, my guess as to why UMD functionality is so good for BF2.

These are great little games to play. It’s why I prefer the PSP over the DS and 3DS.

Elite Squadron only has one map from BF1/2: Hoth, and it’s actually pretty much the same. But all the others are completely new I think

Honestly they wouldve worked better as PS vita games, as the PSP was way too compressed to handle battlefront 2s mechanics.
