There was a man at my church I went to when I was in middle school. He was very overly affectionate. Always caressing my arm, my shoulder, my back. And I would always move away from him. I told my stepmom how uncomfortable he made me feel and she said that he was harmless and that he was in love with her during high school and on and on about her. One day he went up to shake my hand and I refused. He forcibly grabbed my hand and pulled me close and said “good little girls don’t tell men no”. It scared the absolute shit out of me. I told my dad, crying, that I was afraid of him. My dad patted me on the back and said I would be okay. That he would handle it. My father is a very stoic, big man. After that day that man didn’t say another word to me. Didn’t even look at me. My dad and stepmom are now divorced too. So there’s that. 😂

Hey, simmer down, batts2008. I don't see where Chiterra even said beat him up or bash someone's face in. She simply stated how annoying it is to see a dad be so passive about another adult stalking his underage daughter. And it was obnoxious for me to watch as well. His attitude at home was "don't worry too much about it." Even at the beginning of the movie, he knows that Kurt likes Laurisa and he teases his wife by saying "There's your son in law." Creepy! No, he doesn't HAVE to bash Kurt's head in to show somewhere in the movie that he has frustration/disgust that his daughter is being stalked like any rational, breathing being would. It was an unrealistic portrayal. But I think they just wanted to show two sides, so they had the mom go all the way one way and the father all the way the other. Anyway, be nice! This is YT for crying out loud, not a debate club.

Not sure if he still acts or not but if he does, here's another stalker role he could play should it ever get made into a TV movie...one that is based on Hank Wise, a deranged, delusional man that stalked a Nashville, Tennessee karaoke host, Nikki Goeser and gunned down her husband Ben, also a karaoke host. Nikki is a gun rights activist. From time to time, she is on FOX News.

He finally quit after my step mom practically jumped over the McD's counter he was working at, purposely made a scene (which got him fired on the spot), and threatened to send my dad after him if he didn't leave me alone (my dad is very old-school Italian; it wouldn't have ended pretty). Samantha Forette,I agree with you.As a childless single man,I have 100% control of my sexual desires by waiting for a childless single female to do all the talking to me when there's no act of courtesy, emergency, work,or business involved.I'm not like these men who make assumptions, take the wrong chances and wrong advice about the meeting anti-social females, emulating the tactics that other men use to meet anti-social females, and get their hopes up on and caught up in the wrong things or the wrong way of right things wasting their time, breath, energy, and motion on females who aren't interested in them.If I waited days, weeks, months, and years for a childless single female to tell me what type of pleasure can she have with me that I expect her to have with me and she don't mention about,it then I would leave her alone and forget about her like she wants me to, and if there are men who have it difficult to follow my example, this may sound strange coming from me and sound like it don't relate to this subject matter, but I hope it works for the sake of decreasing the chances of harassment of females and other matters as well.Men who are both childless, single, and sexually addicted should go find out where can they determine their chances of becoming a father before they have sex with a female which means that men should know if they"re sterile and they won't be able to impregnate a female after having sex. Then find out how, where, and why people take the time, energy, and motion to use their hands to make statues, dolls, puppets, mannequins, dummies, action figures, and robots so childless single men can be hopefully influenced use their time to either buy or make robot females with their own hands so that it can help them leave alone and forget the females who aren't interested in these men.Thank you and I hope my suggestion was helpful.

No stalking-laws really existed, for one thing.....as Mrs. Annello fought for. A second: If he had hit or killed Curt, he would have gone to prison for years, maybe forever. Laurisa would be safer but her life would be destroyed without her dad. It was a no-win situation.

My daughter had a stalker at a very young age, one night (thankfully) she was not home ,and he came by the house and shot her bedroom window out it was so scary to go through ,it was just my younger daughter and I home alone. Cops took over 4 hours to come because we were not priority or an emergency case. She was such a brave girl and went through whole court proceedings to gain restraining orders from him and his father since they were both threatening to kill her and the family. She faced them head on in court and held her stare when they tried to intimidate her she never backed down not once. Of course we were right beside and behind her every single step of the way. We took immediate measures to ensure the safety of our family. Got a guard dog that was well trained and ready to protect, hot guns and made sure the girls were familiar with them and comfortable handling them. Even though we felt a little more safe it was far from over and we put in an excess amount of calls to the police department dealing with harrasment and stalking from them. I certainly forgot what sleeping was as my husband worked nights and I would stay awake to make sure girls were ok. It started to take a toll on us...my daughter was such a great student cheerleading with the high school, coaching, she had a part time job ,she had her future planned out and was thriving towards it,then PTSD hit and shes never been the same. I lost her emotionally, she is not the same person at all. He damaged her. Shes still reaching her goals in life and I'm so proud of everything she has accomplished, a career buying her own car and home etc but I lost the girl we had worked so hard at giving a full happy life. To see her smile is so rare and that's what hurts the most.

Best thing in the world you can do is be armed and train, especially women. The media will never tell you this fact because they have an agenda, but according to CDC numbers 500,000 to 3,000,000 lives are saved each year due to the defensive use of firearms. Criminals do not follow laws, period and the only people gun laws harm are law abiding citizens that are the only people to be disarmed under strict gun laws. The police show up after crimes are committed to document what happened and if there are no good guys with a gun then the bad guys with a gun will win everytime. There should be zero Gun Free Zone signs put up anywhere unless you want to be a sitting target. Things change when criminals have to wonder who they are up against and what kind of weapons they have behind the entry of any place they are deciding to commit a crime against. An armed society is a polite society. All the worst crime rate areas are places that have chosen to tie the hands of law abiding citizens in favor of only the state and criminals being armed.

The police are only enforcers of the law. Its the politicians who are making those laws. Stop voting Democrat! Look at California governor Jerry Brown who is setting record numbers of criminals free just so they can vote? And it's liberal judges who are being soft on these rapists and murderers, enforcing an agenda instead of the written rule of law. To blame the cops for the problems are ignorant. Cops are fathers and mothers too who don't want creeps roaming the streets with their kids either. They harass or intimidate a creep and he starts screaming police harassment/intimidation, excessive force, racism and the cop loses their job then they're blamed for the creeps on the streets. Smdh. Vote for politicians who actually get behind stalker laws, rape laws, anti-bullying laws. The cops isn't where the problem lies.

This is why, even at work I don't even make small talk with the men customers. Most men do not know what 'no' truly means, and you also have to be firm when telling them to really back off or you're not interested. It's crazy how men can pursue a woman who doesn't want them, and then it turns into obsession and also stalking and/or killing. No means no if a woman isn't interested in you, LEAVE HER ALONE. Damn

Especially, in '94, I was an Executive Assistant for an EVP of a construction company in Manhattan. Short skirt suits were stylish, but I always wore with black opaque stockings. I remember a certain vendor would check in with our Reception on first floor, I was on 2nd. They would actually have the audacity to ask Reception; what I was wearing today. It got out of hand. Finally, I told my boss that if this didn't stop, I was suing for harassment. Oh, they stopped.

i think it's called commitment in coach jargon. really hard to draw that line. everybody wants their child to be the specially gifted one who stands out as worthy of special attention and grooming . . . you don't assume the grooming is for unprofessional reasons. i mean the world would not go on if we didn't assume the best until we can't otherwise. treacherous as hell. but you can't keep that out on the table either, otherwise your children see you as paranoid and super un-socialised. my mom had me believing that having sexuality is basically like crossing a busy street through traffic and as a result i've been hiding mine my whole life, it scares the hell out of me. and all those precautions didn't help me from being abused as an object. just made me feel like it was my fault.

    • @MissJessyeNorman
      @MissJessyeNorman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

25 years ago, it was still pedophilia for a man of 24 to be expressing romantic interest in a 14 year old child. No parent I knew would've let that stand. Healthy parents would've been disgusted immediately, and nipped it in the bud. People who are intellectually or socially stunted do not get a pass. They might be slow, but they have the full spectrum of emotions and character traits that every human does, that includes the entire negative and immoral side. One's child needs just as much protection from them as from anyone else, if not more - not because they are necessarily any more dangerous than any other group, but because too many people _will_ give them a pass out of a misguided sense of guilt. Thus, those who are predators, are granted easy access to their victims. And this, this needs to change, as does any adult man or woman having access to a minor.

One day he followed me to the town centre and when a friend shouted out he coming towards me I tried to make a run for it but he got hold of me and threw me so hard that I stumbled back and went through a shop window. He finally went to prison and I moved away. I was one of the lucky ones as so many women out there end up being murdered after enduring months of torture.

Can you please tell me, if you are still around, what injuries your being thrown through a glass window left you with and where your legs rested or what position you were in when that happened? For the protection of other people, could you mention the full name of the offender and where this occurred (and what year)?

@@aFoxyFox. I was thrown up against the shop window, I never went through it as I doubt I would have survived. I had a bruised face and body, no broken bones, and a split lip with a huge bruise above my lip. What was worse is not the battering I took but what it did to my confidence, I felt scared to go out for a long time. This happened when I was 22 and I am now 65, so it is a long time ago. ( i read through my previous post and see now why you ask me about the window, I have typed put me through when I meant to type he pushed me back hard and I went back against the shop window)

@@skygazer6898 Thank you so much for your reply. So, just out of curiosity, how long did it take before you regained confidence and felt less fear? What were the stages you went through? People seem to be getting rowdier these days, especially after the virus and lockdowns, and someone in a car drove up to the side of the road as I was walking with my spouse peacefully by the waterside here in Charlottetown P.E.I. and started calling out aggressively to start a fight or something, and even that, being as minimal as it was, left us feeling like we were uncomfortable going out because of random lunatics or tourists or whatever that all was, it was so out of the blue and had no rhyme or reason. It took months to feel better or normal again, and really the recovery was just imagining killing the person violently if they ever showed up or attacked, or if anyone did, even if it was a fantasy, by imagining that, sort of re-living it over and over and over and then simulating new instances or events where we might unrealistically terrorize or mutilate the scumbag, we were able to feel a little safer going out again, on the off chance that some totally random stranger attacks. I'm curious as to what stages you experienced after the incident and what happened next regarding the incident too, did anyone approach or help or say anything?
I don't recall if you mentioned this, but where did this occur and was it in the U.S.A. and what cultural, linguistic, ethnic, or religious background were all the characters or individuals mentioned if you know? Did you tell your parents? What were the statements or responses you received from various people if you remember? Which were the most appreciated, which were the least appreciated and why?
As an aside, who is in your display picture there? Did certain media become difficult to listen to or watch, was any sort of media seemingly cathartic or otherwise healing?
Were you more frightened or alert or angered by certain people or appearances or groups / types? What were the cues or signs you found most threatening and disturbing? What were some signs this perpetrator showed which you noted then or found yourself wary of with any other people?
      Sorry for all the question!
A lot of young and inexperienced people online seem to have some strange disease these days where they go around online writing stories they just thought up, so hearing about real events and authentic experiences from people who went through everything (except the window) can be really helpful, and it can really help people who may have experienced traumatic events or assaults or to warn people or give them hope by knowing the whole process and the time it takes to get past the ordeal or comfort even in what aspects might not fade as compared to which do and did in your case.
Thank you so much for replying, even after writing your original comment some time ago, I appreciate it a lot. Also, have you developed any sense of humor, or even a sense of dark humor about traumatic experiences from the past? Was this the only one and did this one seemingly pale any others? Where there other things that happened to you which made this experience seem less impactful or influential upon your life or feelings or did this event act as so transformative to your worldview, life, and activities that it remained the primary catalyst for total change? What, if any, were things you didn't do anymore, attributed to experiencing this event? Did he go to prison for this incident in particular? What was the whole experience of talking to the police? Was anyone with you to help or support you? Was there a court case or any things you had to attend next? How long was that whole process and was it all smooth and also without personal cost or expenditure? It would be so informative to understand the procedure from that time , wherever you were, and everything involved with it and all the real steps to compare with how things may differ now or may largely be the same.
      Thank you again!

@@aFoxyFox. I think there are a lot of crazy, obnoxious people around today and I tend to keep my distance. I have a very small circle of friends now, as sadly a few close friends have passed away. going back to the incident, to be honest, I can't remember how long it took to gain my confidence as I was always a shy, nervous girl and yet today, at the age of 65, I am comfortable in myself and a strong and confident woman. I don't think I dated for a few years, preferred being on my own. I had an experience when I was 17, that I don't talk about as I was an irresponsible, stupid girl. I went to a pub with a friend and got so drunk I could hardly stand up. When I got outside the air made me feel even worse. Apparently, a man said to my friend he gives us a life home, I was dumped in the back seat. My friend said she made a stupid mistake by agreeing to be let out of the car first so that he would be alone with me. He had promised he would get me home safely. I think you can work out the rest. @@skygazer6898 So did any of these issues you experienced come up as psychological issues to work through later in life, like at the time you may have been in a serious relationship leading to marriage and things like that or afterwards? I've been in a relationship with my spouse since we were in our early twenties, like 22 and 23 and stuff like that, until marriage more officially at the age of 27 and 28 or something like that. Were people at around that time marrying earlier or at around the same ages I've mentioned here? I think I'm hearing about people marrying later these days but still roughly around the late twenties or early to mid thirties for the most part at the latest, except for the more rare first marriages approaching or passing 40. Divorce rates seem to be higher and much more common and viewed as more normalized and less stigmatized as compared to the past, and now the statistics that I've read suggest that people who marry very early have a higher chance of divorce, and also statistics showing that many young people have become averse to relationships and sexual encounters or romances as compared to earlier generations after birth control measures and sex outside of marriage became more common. I was hearing about really young people in the 80s and particularly the 90s and early 2000s having sexual experiences, but that seems to have reduced, with many people reporting difficulties in even having relationships at all despite the ease with which people can communicate now around the world.
These people have generally not had bad experiences except maybe seeing things online or getting harassed online at an early age, many of them have basically grown up online almost entirely but are now in their twenties, so there must be a lot of really different sort of thinking going on that I'm not even used to or familiar with.
I also wonder if men in the past were more violent, dangerous, indecent, and predatory in general or if that has become actually less common in some places. I was watching a video the other day talking about South Korea and the stage they are at in their society where it seemed a bit backwards with the men being much more openly predatory and chauvinistic.
In the vast majority of your experiences though, have you found that most human beings, and most males are generally decent enough seeming and trustworthy and restrained or are most in your opinion truly ruled by hormones or whatever and predatory and dangerous into their old age?
Even after what you experienced, were you able to live a comparatively normal life like your peers and other people around you?
I think the norm used to be that people generally went through school, usually up to Highschool, then later a lot more people went to college as well, marrying sometime after Highschool or College (University) age in the early or mid to late 20s, then a lot of people also used to typically have children while married, and then their children would perhaps follow the same course, sometimes being the first to go to college or to be working. People were able to afford more seemingly, so usually at some point a home was purchased which would become the family home, and usually kept, and in some cases left for better housing conditions when able as an upgrade.
There was a time also where a lot of places and areas were being improved and renovated so that older parts of the cities were cleaned up and modernized with shopping malls and things like that emerging and a lot of newer housing developments and buildings.
You also must have witnessed some very interesting changes in the U.K. during some very active periods, such as changing demographics and the poorer classes or people moving up slightly to the middle class somewhat, or at least there was as far as I am aware an upward motion for a lot of people who had been living in relatively poorer conditions just prior, and an increase or growth in the U.K. population of minorities or immigrants.
You also witnessed different things like the Disco and Dance Music era, the 80's and the emergence of Punk and Gothic youth culture, did you witness any of that first hand or was that exaggerated mainly in the media?
Was there a certain age or certain conditions where you felt you were out of it all and in the clear and basically didn't fear much harassment anymore?
I am just theorizing, but I suspect that younger people might deal with more violence in general than older people, and that older people might end up fearing such interactions less, as they become more unlikely overall as they are interacting with different population and age groups.
Did you also form certain opinions about alcohol (and maybe also drug) consumption and intoxication based on your experiences? I'm asking also because personally I've always been wary of intoxication and the vulnerability it may cause or lead to by consuming any kind of intoxicants.
I think that violence towards women, in some way at least, is quite common, but I'm wondering if it has been reducing or increasing? One thing I'm certain of is that the reporting of such incidents is likely increasing, so that in the past many cases or wrongs went un-reported and just basically taken as a sad fact of life and the way things are, whereas now many more people are speaking up, and in some unfortunate cases also apparently using accusations for reasons of revenge.
Did you watch the American "Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard" trial that released aired as televised and streamed online? Do you have any opinions on that if you saw anything about it?
Thank you again for your replies! I appreciate it a lot. I think everyone who has gone through practically anything at all in life, and for years, has a wealth of very useful insight and information about so many things, that many people might never end up asking about or hearing about, and then all that information might just sort of disappear, but then no one can really benefit from it or gain anything from all that experience, not only the bad things, but also the very many enjoyable and good aspects of things that have occurred in one's life.
Did you notice any sort of shift in what you ended up feeling enjoyment with or through after your experiences, or did you basically always like the same things before and after and these negative experiences or memories didn't really end up seemingly changing anything about your interests or enjoyments?
Over the years, and this is something that worries me, I've felt like looking at the state of things in the world (when I hear about what has been going on), and more stresses and responsibilities in life and day to day, has really disturbed me and my personality, and from being a very happy and jovial sort of person in my youth, I have, year by year, become a little more bitter and jaded and feel angry and bad about people as well, avoiding them more also, and I kind of also don't like that but at the same time find it difficult to approve of much of what I see going on or how people are behaving and dealing with each other over the media or even in person in many ways.
I am so pleased to hear that you feel a lot better now, so that there is maybe hope that somehow I'll be able to not really head down this course of being really angry and afraid even, of disliking people so much and finding them so irritating and ultimately even pretty vile to my senses. My ideal vision for the world is really not being met by the images and experiences I am seeing out there right now and increasingly as the years go on, so I've been just keeping to myself mostly, and especially after around 2 years of lockdowns also. Another issue that bothers me is that I see very little in the way of improvements or solutions when it comes to violence, for example, in this usually sleepy sort of vacation town, a bunch of thuggish people arrived a few months ago as tourists and were wearing black baseball caps at night in the dark and smashing bottles and making barking sounds and harassing strangers, and I hate that sort of thing, with a passion, that there are these young people making trouble for innocent people, hooligans basically, traveling in large roaming bands of like 20 people and stuff, ugh. Even thinking about it bothers me, and I really don't want an incident, and then to find out how slow or helpless law enforcement may be or that evildoers might even get away with things mainly or that I might get in trouble myself if I do anything, it is all so stressful.
Anyway, for the most part, I try to just focus on the thing that I enjoy and amuse me, and to go about my business and keep my mind clear, but when I encounter these things during walks or even just looking outside my window, it brings back a lot of bad sorts of feelings, and that is basically without anything much at alll ever even happening to me. Even the prospect of bad things that loom around and threaten are enough to get me feeling agitated though.
In my experience though, the actual reality, seems to me still to be that most people are decent and self-controlled, and sane, and that the minority of dangerous and crazed people are overall unlikely to be encountered or dealt with, which is a relief!
Thank you again for taking the time to write back with all that you have, I appreciate it sincerely!

@@lynnmahan154 It didn't end tragic. He was imprisoned for this for 13mo before committing any violent crime or kidnapping. It was sad what he kept being allowed to get away w/, w/ only a slap on the wrist. Getting barred from doing something I love like umpiring softball, would've been enough for me to just get out of dodge, find a new municipality to umpire in, even if in the same State of Florida; not that I would've even thought about sending the flowers or passing notes to a player I was officiating in a game; if it was an adult. It's a conflict of interests, as I actually officiate soccer, basketball, softball, and track & field, where they specifically have you fill out a form at the beginning of the season to the commissioner, that says that you do not have a friend, relative or former school/club that you attended in the conference, and if you do, to write it down, or be terminated if you get found out to referee a game w/ such school/club involved.
Now I'll admit that there were always certain players, coaches and towns I secretly liked more than others, but I didn't know the parties involved before the game started. Under no circumstance are you allowed to befriend so much as someone's parent of a child that's involved in the game you are officiating, or give any coaching advice like Curt Harper did before like before the 2nd game he was shown umpiring in this, or it shows a clear bias. The latter was a violation right there, whether it was the MLB or Tee Ball. Out of season, I can go out w/ someone's mom for a glass of wine & ravioli, who saw me during a game, but not in season. But if the dinner turns into anything more than a casual acquaintanceship or light friendship, I have to exclude myself from that school or club for the next season.
