I also really want to get into making webcomics, but struggle with follow-through myself. I’m not as worried about my art not being good enough- I’d see it as almost an exercise to improve. But I’m not sure I’d be able to trust myself to finish.

I think you should try a small comic with a definite end and see how it feels, how you like the workload and schedule to see if it’s something for you. I also worry about follow through for myself, but I think it’s something I can build up to (this whole youtube channel has been me learning how I work and how I manage schedules lol). And you’re very right about it being an exercise! I’ve heard that from multiple different creators that comics are just one of those “the best way to learn is to just do it”. I keep letting my insecurities get the best of me tho :( I need to just man up and make start making a comic that I don’t post online or anything so I can finally get experience lol. I have a bad habit of getting trapped in the “I’ll start when I’m good enough even though you’re never going to feel good enough haha.

@@saragrekey Yeah that’s definitely the best idea. I do have a plan for a comic that isn’t extremely long that has a definite ending. Maybe I’ll get back to planning that out at some point lol.

hey i was thinking about starting my own youtube channel i have no computer to edit but I do have a canon camera, iphone and gen 7 ipad im wondering if you had any advice?

hi! I actually don’t edit on a computer either because mine is super slow. I just use my phone to film, and I either airdrop the videos to my ipad or upload them to my files app and download them to my ipad. I edit using Premiere Rush, which unfortunately is a terrible and slow app but it’s the only one that really works for me (there’s also DaVinci Resolve and iMovie if you want to try out other options). I don’t know if you can easily send footage from your cannon to your ipad, I know I have a lot of difficulty sending videos just from my iPhone to my iPad.
But making videos without a computer definitely is do-able! Make sure you have lots of space cleared on both your iPad and iPhone anytime you’re working on a video. I usually have to delete Premiere rush inbetween videos because it gathers so much data (I think?) that the app size balloons to like over 10GB 😭 It’s a whole lot of patience and finding work arounds. I think my iPad might be a little old at this point so it might be easier for you. Also! Keep your videos under 15 to 20 minutes if you can! When I’m filming a long drawing, I make sure to break it up into multiple small recordings rather than one 1 hour clip, because a big file is infinitely harder to send across devices compared to multiple smaller ones.
Like I said, the biggest thing is just being patient. I’m trying to save up for a computer so one day it might be easier for me but that’s way in the future hah. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
