    I've spent a few days looking into this. I want to buy it but the total lack of ANY beginner tutorials is surprising. The official developer channel just has update videos. They all showcase the creation settings but none showing how to load created characters into your own levels or replacing the third person character for example.

    Wow, So I actually looked up attempting to see if this asset is worth it, But nah my dude.... $300 For this type of Asset, I feel the creation is awesome, The system for "Character" creation is implimented, But Adding this for $300 for just personal use... Not commercially is ridiculous.

    It is incredible that it works with metahumans makes it even more incredible but the price leaves much to be desired considering that it is a tool that will only be used by indie people, and small entrepreneurs who still do not know how to make their own outfits, etc.

    Amazing tool, I'd be willing to pay somewhere around 100 usd, 200 tops, but 350? yeah no, too much for indie games or hobbyists, thanks for covering it tho

      Yeah it’s pretty crazy. These marketplace items are so hefty in price. The voxel plugin alone is $350.

      The amount of work put into the asset itself and the time you'll save makes it easily worth $350. If you want to cheap out a developer who put a significant amount of time into this asset then just say so.

    • @3sgamestudio
      @3sgamestudio 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stormr you can use tranformer tools to convert DAZ clothes into cc4 and then move them to unreal with perfect skiing and animations. and daz clothes are a lot less expensive even with the extended license. Problem is - some have terrible uv's and/or dozens of duplicate materials that require merging and some post processing.

    Can you cover if there is a modern game dev tech stack? For example in Web design, the basic was to do it is to use plain HTML/CSS/JS. But creating a modern webpage with this is so much harder than using a reactive tech stack like MERN. I've heard of a UI middleman plugin that allows for reactive UIs that most modern games use. I was wondering if there are any other frameworks that make creating a modern game easier? Maybe theres a full stack that can handle all parts of the game end to end? Or is it just about using libraries/ packages in your project?

    • @SmartPoly
      @SmartPoly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that would be an interesting video to make. for game development (as a solo indie developer) you have your typical game engine, in my case Unreal Engine. Programming language in ue4 is a mix of blueprints or c++. Then 3d modeling software, I go for blender (or use maya or 3dsmax). Texturing you can use quixel mixer (it's free) or substance painter.
      Those are your basic programs, you can get more niche for example character clothing: marvelous designer. Sculpting: zbrush (or even blender). Terrain generation: World creator, world machine, gaea. Houdini is also a good program to learn, you can do lots of things inside of it. Sound design, (i'm completely ignorant on this). There are also a lot of subsystems within unreal, such as Niagara for visual fx.

      its code + all those assets your paying for feel free to make all them assets yourself and code it. Even if you don't use the modeled assets you can use the code as a base. But if you already know how to code it then use daz or free assets and save the money.

    • @oldaccount1942
      @oldaccount1942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loremipsum3147 well one example would be those UMG widgets. You think they just work magically? Or the flow of all the content being displayed that is being told to appear which each slider and option or the morph targets/animations.. you get the idea. So ya code* whether it be C++ or blueprints which I still consider code, code was used for this asset. Along with many many days and weeks of modeling.
      :D

    • @loremipsum3147
      @loremipsum3147 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldaccount1942 of course the models in the pack are really hard to make from scratch (tho metahumans might be an alternative solution), but I don't think the widget code is that important. Slider and buttons driving some variables, thats all.

    Did you try saving a customized character you made with it and import it into another project? I get this tool {quite expensive but definitely something to invest in, when the budget finally allow that} is meant for production but I can be wrong, ideally it was perfevt if alloed both uses... characters creations for the developers and, also, an in-game feature for the player to customize the characters from those chosen among those created by the developers... I mean... let's say I create the classes of characters {let's say a woman, a man, a boy and a girl with let's say 10 variation per character} for my game project with this tool and I store them to be used in the in-game editor for the player... does this Editor allow that or am I misunderstanding the use of it? Are all things that, considered the price, are key elements to valuate to understand if buying it is a good investment or not, for our purposes.
