Holy shit, I used to watch these videos all the time back in middle school. These videos actually helped me cope with moving into a new school and getting picked on and bullied. I remember getting really excited to go home, grab some snacks and watch one of these top 10 videos. They honestly made me really happy. I know this sounds fake but I'm being serious. Coming back after so long, now that I'm almost out of high school is crazy. I got an immediate nostaliga feeling. Thanks for making these videos dude!

The lightning cloud was in MK WII, and it literally shrinks you, it benefits you in absolutely now way, and the only way to get rid of it is by crashing into another player, and that may not always be possible.

I would always put it at the entrance of cannons, or landing points of ramps. Or just at a random spot, cuz I need to cycle my items.

The TC was actually pretty cool. Makes you go faster so you can take shortcuts and pass it on to other people without much trouble and have a mini game of hot potato.

I like the boomerang more. I have half decent aim, so 3 shots, AND the possibility of hitting them when t returns? If you can aim, its a pretty good item! The green shell may be better because you can block with it, but I like a hyper offense over a solid defense.

Aladinde The fake item makes the game more balanced. The person in first can use it to *try* and trick others, but they also don't have any defenses. It makes it so you can at least hit them with a red she'll from time to time, making it a good item.

i pretty much disagree with the entirety of this video besides 3rd and 1st worst.
for me it's:
BEST
#5 bullet Bill - amazing but would be higher if it didn't avoid shortcuts and inner lanes.
#4 Lucky 7 - is really helpful due to the vast amount of items it has but focusing on which one is in front of you and therefore the one you'll use if you press the button, can be annoying.
#3 Triple Mushroom - beats the Super mushroom for me because there's no timer so you can spread out their use.
#2 triple red shells - seeing this in your item slot, especially in a battle just makes you think "yes!" 'nuff said.
#1 Starman - Fast, let you take shortcuts, can knock out opponents, have awesome music and make your character dance (in MKDS at least)
WORST:
#5 Thunder cloud - it gets used automatically which I know makes sense and it does speed you up but it's almost always a pain to pass on and is just one of those items that makes you say "ugh" when you get it
#4 Boo - rarely ever steals anything good and you have to constantly look at the bottom screen of the DS to see when someone gets something good which distracts you from concentrating on the race
#3 Raccoon tail - useless and too short a lasting time. it's only useful at the very start of a race when everyone is nearby.
#2 Blue shell - pointless and doesn't help anyone. you get it in about 5th to 7th so you're far from first and an 150cc race it can kill your chances of winning if you were in first.
#1 blooper - literally does nothing.
green shells and bananas are actually pretty good as they force you to be skilled with your usage and aiming and they can shield you from other items which is VERY useful so I don't find them to be that bad.

Well your list sounded like youre the one stuck at the last place all the time. Mario Kart is partly luck and skill. Greenshell and Banana will be usefull to those who are good. I suck at Mario Kart, still I can somehow time my shot with the greenshell or think where I should place a banana to get a higher chance of someone hitting it.
Your list would make sense if you switch the "Worst" and "Best" list and then turn the "new Best" list upside down.

Banana skins are great items. Love it when I'm first place leaving loads of banana skins behind and keep hearing my character celebrate.....unless I play 8 then it's just coins, coins and more coins.

By using a mushroom at the EXACT right time, but who ever has a mushroom in 1st anyways? So it's difficult and rare.

I've been able to do it a few times on Mario Kart Wii, by chance, so it's true, but I don't think you can in older versions of the game. Also, it's hard to have a mushroom in first, because A) You get a banana or green shell 95% of the time, and B) Holding a mushroom leaves you completely vulnerable to incoming shells. It's also very hard to time the boost when you get the rare chance to try.
But it feels so great when you can dodge the blue shell; one of the best experiences I've had in the game involves a blue shell dodge :)

Great list 9.5/10. The POW block however, I feel does have a purpose but only in competitive. Most people play Mario kart for fun, but in competitive you time so you can get the opposing team hit by a red shell by forcing them to loose the item. Which still is useless, but at least it’s not a thunder cloud.

Gladly, to compensate, we got the best 1st place item: the Super Horn. it's very rare though.
If I may throw in my two cents about a couple of the items on your worst list.
*Green Shells* tend to be less popular than Red because of how much more skill based they are. After all Red Shells are just shoot it and forget it. However Green do have their perks to those who know how to use them. Unlike the Red Shells, you can use it to hit people several turns behind you and strengthen your lead or set up hazards and make people panic. Likewise as a Red Shell aims automatically at the Kart's rear end, which is the most defensive side of the Kart, and most Experienced Players will almost always have some from of Protection there, be it Bananas, Shells, or Item Boxes (In some games), Green Shells can be pot shot off walls to hit them in the sides or front where they're much more vulnerable. Which is as awesome as sounds and insanely satisfying.
The reason *Bananas* are so apparently weak, is because of how common they are. However when placed tactically they can very effective, such as on or after boost pads to kill momentum, bind turns causing drivers to go off the Road, and especially on vital ramps turns required to stay on the course. This is what makes their shear abundance so good since you can easily set up nearly unavoidable death traps at several points in just a couple laps, while protecting yourself in the process. And it's for this reason the DKs' *Giant Banana* from Double Dash was so freaking amazing. It being the a first Place special, very common, it's immense size, and it's ability to break into three smaller bananas upon impact, made it effortless to destroy anyone behind you with popular placement. Perhaps it was even a bit broken. But still one of my favorites :P.
As far as the *Racoon Tail* is concerned, I'm inclined to agree with you to a point.
However my biggest gripe is that it, just like the horrendous *Thunder Cloud* (the true worst item, laughably absent from your list, and is even meant to be a punishment by the developers. That's why it goes off automatically and buzzs when you get it) hogs up your Item Box the entire time it's in use. This can really screw you over big time, and leave you completely defenseless. Perhaps if it rewarded the player more for skillful execution, like deflecting Shells right back at the person who launched them, and didn't stop you from pick up reserve items, then it's be a lot cooler.
And did you seriously just call the POW Block the P.O.W. Block?

Sometimes the Red Shell will hit you on the side after you come out of a turn. That tends to happen to me most often on MKW on the N64 DK's Jungle Parkway retro track near the end.

I personally love the green shell, there's something so satisfyingly out predicting a player's movement and nailing them with it.
I find the bananas to be pretty good, sure we all hate 'em when we get them, but try playing shells only, you'll realise how important they are to defending your position.

Everybody commenting about why the thundercloud wasn't considered as one of the worst items: It was a runner-up for the list. I didn't add it because it can be very useful for gaining speed, as long as it can be passed to someone else before you shrink. That's my reason for not including it on the list.
2 player N64 co-op teamwork, when 1 player shoots for first, and the other hovers between 4th-7th to monopolize power items and keep the strong AI racers farther back.
Player 1 gets knocked out of first to third, picks up a star, Player 2 shoots off lightning while Player 1 is immune. Instant 1st place recovery strategy. :D
It should of made the list solely on the reason that it had a higher percent chance of failure by shrinking you instead and the face it's pretty much a troll item due to the item transferring to you near the time it strikes.

The blooper only seems "useful" on Single player mode because from I've seen it makes the Coms race sloppy, like they could hit walls or fall into their doom (from what I've seen on MK7)

I think the worst mario kart item is the Fake Item block. I mean, at least with the banana you can block red and green shells, but with the Fake Block you can´t

In my solid opinion, Coins is the number 1 worst Mario Kart item ever. It's true that Blooper only obstructs the player's view and make drifting rather slippery in Mario Kart 8. Thundercloud gives you a speed boost handy for taking shortcuts and you can bump other racers to get one of them shrunk instead of you. Coins, on the other hand, don't do jack squat. Nothing! And you will easily get hit by any item.
My opinion of your list:
Best 5: The blue shell is annoying, especially for getting at least a star rank.
Best 4: I never played Double Dash.
Best 3: It's worse on Rainbow Road because, you know.
Best 2: The lightning bolt is annoying over a pit.
Best 1: The item I almost never get (because I'm always in first).
Worst 5: The POW is easy to dodge with a bike (by shaking the Wii-mote or being in the air).
Worst 4: It's also useful for hitting goombas to get a mushroom in Mario Kart Wii (if there are goombas).
Worst 3: I personally like using it over a boost over the edge to screw the cpus and make them get near last place. Because I'm evil.
Worst 2: The tanooki suit can be useful for destroying the red shells (if timed right), if badly timed, the tail is destroyed.
Worst 1: I can mostly see without it, and it can slow down the cpus a bit depending on the game.
Bananas and green shells are basically your lord and savior in first place.

I think the thunder cloud is a great item it stops your opponents and slowls them down AND allows you to run over them (I think)
Nah what it does is that it floats above u and u move a little faster, but u have to drive into someone so they can get the thunder cloud because if u dont, u end up getting zapped by lightning

Whats with all the negativity and abuse man? I'm a good MK player who has taken a lot of blue shells in my time! But are you trying to tell me that you'd rather have a red shell than a bullet? I like the traditional red shells, and bananas and so on, but obviously Bullets, Stars, Giant Mushrooms.. are more powerful and effective, more enjoyable to use and therefore better items.
so what if his favorite items are the ones that u get in last. Those are the ones that have the highest chance of actually getting stuff done. Thankfully I'm really good so I just hold on to those items until I get back in 1st then I use them, sure it's cheap but's it's better than using it, getting in first and getting a banana

Joshua D. It's smart if u know how to use the items. Even if ur 1st and u have the blue shell, it won't come back and hit u if u use it correctly, all u have to do is turn around, throw it, and if the glitch works right it should hit the guy in last place. lol

To be honest, a coin is just plain annoying. I remember your Mario Kart 9 Predictions, where you said you didn't want it to return. "So I'm in 1st place, and a shell is coming, I get that box and think what will I get, what will I get??? Oh, a COIN. BAM! The shell hits me."
Blue Shell is my least favorite item. I don't want it to be booted in Mario Kart 8, but I really hate how frequently it's used in past games. I am pretty good at Mario Kart Wii and I can remain 1st for a while. When I went back and played it to practice for Mario Kart 8, I counted how many times I got hit by a Blue Shell when I was playing Mario Kart Wii's Grand Prix mode, I got hit more than 16 FREAKING TIMES!! THIS MADE ME RAGE QUIT (But it's a good thing I already unlocked everything and beat this game a while ago). But I do agree with you that it's a totally fair item to use for those racers who just suck at the game. I actually got to 1st place when I was in 9th when I was racing on MoonView Highway. One way you can dodge it CPU races and Online is wait for the 2nd place person to pass you and make the shell hit them instead. Then, you can drive past them laughing.
I'm glad the blue shell exists so 1st place can't just ride into the sunset

Item is terrible whenever you get it or get hit by it.
It is useless when you get it because you get it round about 5th or 6th place and all it does is hit the player in 1st place depending on the game but any professional Mario kart player playing Mario kart 64,7 or 8 will know to just stay away from the middle of the track to avoid it and it hits first place but if those players are professionals how the heck are you going to pass them to get to the first placer.
I only think it is useful for trolling the 1st place racer.
Easiest way to dodge a blue shell (In MK7 and 8) When you see someone who has a blue shell, drop into second and stay there until the shell is used. Afterwards, go back into first.

I mean, the Blue Shell is amazing as far as overall game design is concerned. After all, as you said, this is one of the few limiting factors that could potentially stop someone from just winning the race unopposed. However, as an item for you yourself to get... it isn't great. This would be an excellent item for 2nd or 3rd place, but this item goes only to the players really far behind. If you're 10th and you get a blue shell, all you do at best is switch 1st and 2nd place. It does nothing to benefit you, though.

The only real use for the bloopers is that the cpu slows down a little when hit by one.
A lot of people say the coin is the most useless item, but as of MK8Deluxe, it can now give 2 coins, and cockbock someone from getting your other item! Also, the Blooper can screw up your steering now, and the Boomerang Flower/Priahnna Plant may as well not exist, due to how little I've seen from it. (Minus the cops/robber battlemode)
Am I the only one that thinks the blooper kinda got a buff in MK8D? It seems that they made it obscure your vision more. I've spun from bananas and hit walls bc of the blooper now!

In Mario cart wii and in other games, the triple green shell will circle around you and any players or power ups will be knocked out, There's been times where I can see a shell behind me in Wii and at the last second I get a green shell or triple green shell and block it, all of this aplies to bananas and triple bananas

I hate getting hit by it, but I smirk every time I get one. I pass it on immediately and watch the person in 1st place get hit.
