    It's not yellow fiver who killed these soldiers, that's what you learned from books of these slaved master countries to make excuse of their defeat. These colon soldiers were by slaves. These death os these colon soldier have something to do with Voodoo religion. You have to be haitian to know what I'm talking about.

  • @hitman483
    @hitman483 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Dutty Boukman did not instigate the insurrection. He was a voodoo priest from Jamaica that assisted with the religious practice before the uprising. He didn't instigate anything. The Haitian slaves were tired of the abuse they received from the French, they said never again would there be slavery in Haiti. The slaves created a strategy and executed their plan.

    • @hitman483
      @hitman483 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dutty Boukman did start the rebellion with Tousaint L'overture. As all those involved were sworn to secrecy. Furthermore, as I have been to Haiti and spoken to historians about the revolution. The historians told me that Dutty and Tousaint started the rebellion.

    Error alot good information but there here is a common trend to tell the history from eurocentric perspective. One can trace a rebellious trend through history of Ayiti from conflict of Benin manipulate by Dutch and British forces mainly but also French and Portuguese enslaving business. Some thirty years before Oje or Bookman Dutty was the precursor of the Revolution personified in the person, organization and leadership of Francois Mankandal. Yet he wasn't the only rebellion leader then. Not only did Ayiti even then have various guerilla maroon camps but he also begin his revolt with voodoo ceremony with help of local Priestess.

    khanacademy you made a common mistake of those who narrate history: you made a judgemental conclusion of a historical fact! just because napoleon ordered the rebellion to be put down what makes you think he didn't like slave-freedom? show me the correspondence or the statement that he made that makes you say that! and you didn't mention that there was A LOT of pressure in france from the wealthy to put down l'ouverture.

    No such thing as mix race. You are who your father is.the skin colour might change but that person is who is father is. The man carry’s the seed of a race AKA nation.

    • @itsolivier
      @itsolivier 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if theres no such thing as mix race how can you say you are what the father is, that means you would be white if your mixed race with a white father and black if your mixed race with a black father, thats a very odd method of determining race when your forgetting the woman, the seed bearer and ultimately genetic modifiant of the couple, male seed doesnt hold anything until its charged. to tell me a white seed , charged and genetically loaded in a black womb is white, is silly. Its another distant form of colorism and not exact; these are the same people who come out and say obama is black and then say he is not black... to me you are who you chose to be to a degree, many whites with white fathers stood up in the Haitian revolution, however only a minority of them were against the slavery or paralysis of the black masses and that is only a result of propoganda, but to stand up in revolution against their white overlords and their fathers should of been a hint that mixed race is far more complicated than you are indicating.

There's a direct correlation to literacy and the IQ test. The societies with the lowest literacy rates do poorest on IQ tests.
