Preston looks like he's finally transformed from a gentleboy to a proper bearded gentleman. Keep the scruff son, you look like a dapper captain of a ship.

It may not be "stylish" in common usage, but it is well worth learning . Even if you do not apply everything to your everyday life, there are times you should know how to step up and show some class.
I really love this channel after recently discovering it. It is very classy and has great information. Dressing in proper evening wear is extremely helpful when you have overnight guests or you are a guest of someone else. I don’t really have any criticisms and the only comment I will make is that I like the softer velvet slipper more than I do the solid leather one. But that’s just my choice personally.
I like to wear some nice slippers around the house, because I'm usually wearing a suit (or something classic) and I can't bring myself to wear German sandals.
@Gentleman's Gazette Hi Preston, I'm going to preface this comment by saying I'm a woman in my early 60's, because I had no idea you could look as stunning as you do with a beard! Please continue to cultivate it, and never shave it off! I think men's sleepwear is far more comfortable than the offerings for women. I just ordered a set of silk items for my niece which includes silk pillow cases, a sleeping mask, and hair ties. My understanding is that silk reduces static and doesn't dry out ones hair like cotton pillow cases or, pillow cases made from other fabrics. I don't think your new look is casual Preston. I think it is very refined and dashing. Thank so much! Lisa
Before Preston shaves I want to see a video on how to look classically elegant during a zombie apocalypse/collapse of society/stuck in the wilderness. Preston, the Preppy Prepper. In all seriousness, looking good as always Preston.
My six-foot tall high school senior came down last weekend in his light bathrobe that I bought for him when he was in 7th grade. It barely covered him. I'm thinking that he needs a new one for Christmas or his birthday.
Took a shower, slipped into my steel blue pyjamas, burgundy dressing gown and oxblood grecian slippers and finally enjoyed your new video. Classy as always, gentlemen. In Germany, one can also get classic pyjamas from many "fast fashion" places. Mine are all from C&A. They are always made of 100% cotton (often times with suistainability certificate - for whatever that is actually worth) and often feauture classic design elements like contrast piping and/or pseudo-Art Deco patterns. Usually priced at around or below 40€. Been wearing my two pairs for years (so they do hold up as well) but thanks to your video, I decided to get a third one.
But you will find that C & A offers hardly any pyjamas in the traditional vein, i. e. buttoned. Therefore I recommend British retailer 'Woods of Shropshire'. They are slightly more expensive but offer so much more of a choice.
I'm also in Germany-from where did you get the slippers, and dressing gown? I am set for pyjamas, but cannot find decently priced slippers (just Hausschuhe) or a decent dressing gown. Would love some good tips :)
In India , we usually wear kurta(shirt like cloth) and pajamas made either of cotton or silk. It is mostly loose fitting dress worn both during day and night. It is very comfortable to wear (cotton ones) especially during hot summers.
Dressing gowns are actually how I got into classic menswear so I'm super glad you're doing a video on it. I love my Derek Rose dressing gown and wear it more than once per day so the cost per wear of it is probably in the decimals
I was quite literally looking for information on this information a month or two ago. I could find very little on this. I am so glad you guys tackled this subject! I’m also glad that I waited until now to start buy pajamas for the first time. Thank you!
As far as the purchasing section, you guys go from these high end shops on Jermyn Street to Uniqlo. That's a huge gap. The happy medium for most people's budgets for high quality classic sleepwear would be Brooks Brothers. Brooks Brothers, found at any mall near you, and stocked with great pajamas and night shirts. They also carry great quality slippers. They have sales year long, so you don't need to book a trip to London to find quality sleepwear. I can't believe you didn't mention Brooks Brothers.
I really enjoy watching your videos and I think they perform a much needed service. Men and women as well know less and less about dressing properly. I recently attended a funeral and was quite surprised when I was the only mourner there wearing a suit. So much for paying your respects.
I won't disagree about the nightcap and hygiene, but it is clear to me that prior to central heating, unless you were going to sleep under the covers a nightcap is all about warmth.
The US company Lands End offers men's pajamas in multiple styles/fabrics as well as some robes. Their pricing would seem to place them somewhere between Uniqlo and the other brands you featured. At a glance I'd say their offering of robes leans more in the direction of bath robes but I have one of their cotton flannel robes and practically live in it during winter, especially with COVID times work-from-home. I have a few of their long-sleeved broadcloth tops and one pair of their flannel bottoms in navy (I like the broken-up look) but I was a bit ambitious when selecting the sizes for the latter and the elastic is a bit aggressive at the moment. I don't know if you've pointed this out in any other videos but wearing socks with slippers was such a Eureka moment for me. My feet are that "cold and sweaty" weird type such that any sort of fleece-lined slipper was always very uncomfortable. When I purchased my pajama shirts from Lands End I also scooped up a few packs of thin wool socks (calf length) in dark navy to wear specifically with slippers and wow did it make a difference.
Lands End is my favorite mail order catalog; and they have many fine classic menswear and contemporary items. Flannel, gaberdine, seersucker ect. It used to be part of the Sears, Roebuck & Co. umbrella, still owned by the same CEO. They're doing much better than Sears though.
I have two young sons (age 11; twins) and one of them (evil twin) will not sleep in anything but a two-piece pyjamas and the other one (good twin) tells me that nothing but a genuine nightshirt will do.
My father always complains of his head being cold at night, so I knit him a nightcap from bamboo yarn for baby clothes. It's the softest thing, it's a natural fibre and he wears it all the time:)
Don't forget to shop your local department store! They have been some of the best places to get reasonably priced and quality items. Dillard's and Penney's are my go to, used to enjoy Sears when they were closer. Lands End and Brooks Brothers are solid choices for pajamas too.
Try "WOODS of SHROPSHIRE": they have quite a comprehensive range of traditional, i. e. buttoned pyjamas. And they do not cost an an arm and leg either: from 40-80 GBP.
I used to always have some sort of liking for anything classic from the olden days. Clothing is where I want to start my journey after finding this channel. It seems as I've got everything in place. Thanks a lot Preston for sharing this wonderful insights around the history and origion of Pajamas to Robes. I'm a native Hindi speaker and your pronunciation of Pajamas was wonderful.
whenever I stay at a hotel I always go in the traditional pajama, it elevates the experience of staying at a hotel, and if you do need to walk to the lobby I feel more presentable
I believe that would actually qualify as "devolving". The positive of course is, that for those few of us who care a micrometer more, it's easy to appear starlike by merely choosing decent and well fitting clothes.
I have worn cotton (regular or flannel) pajamas to bed all my life, as did my grandfather, in the cold weather in particular. They are both cozy, and signal that it's time to hit the hay!
I have a triple layer bathrobe made out of three regular bathrobes it's so warm, comfortable and stylish I'm wearing it right now it's. Probably my favorite thing in my closet.
I purchased a pair of David Archy cotton pajama's this year and they are my new favorite. Heavy weight (almost like flannel), very stylish and comfortable.
Don Draper wore some very dapper pajamas as well in Mad Men. It really was a way of organizing your day into different contexts people don’t do today, going from active work clothing to lounging pajamas.
While I like Derek Rose, which is a bit pricy IMO, I recommend NOVILA . Best Pyjamas ever, they can last over 15 years (tested myself) and are rather inexpensive than pricy. Fancy and classical elegant designs come with a variety of fabrics and styles. Top notch workmanship, never had a lose button or else.

Love the store ideas, thanks! My slipper option: the docksider boat shoe "slipper". Toe box more protective of bumping furniture, sole good for garbage runs to the street or wet bathrooms.
If you are UK Based i would recommend Saville Row Co. I buy most of my nightwear from them and you can have them monogrammed as well. They also offer the usual made to measure services while not breaking the bank 😊
The Vermont Country Store is also a good place to purchase pajamas, a nightshirt, a robe, slippers, moccasins, or mules (scuffs). Their sleepwear is made with good quality fabrics that last at reasonable prices. You can easily order online or go to their store in person.
I wear a burgundy velvet smoking jacket that is belted. It’s has a black quilted shawl collar, cuffs, and pockets. I pair this with a pair of silk pyjamas and a black pair of embroidered velvet slippers

From a former theater costumer: The robe Michael Caine wore was made from either a lightweight tapestry, heavy jacquard, a brocade, or lightweight velveteen. Please keep in mind that the material chosen for any costume for film, stage, or television is chosen because of how the fabric looks, not necessarily because that same fabric would ever be used in a item of clothing meant for regular use. Because the trim of the collar is a narrow upholstery cord, I am going to guess that Michael Caine's costume robe is made out of a lightweight tapestry or brocade fabric. If you want a similar look in a functional, wearable robe for personal use, I would recommend a machine washable velveteen that has been pre-shrunk before being cut and sewn into a robe.
Vermont Country Store offers a number of quality pajama sets, night shirts, and dressing gowns. I own a few, and they are great. Plus, they are always 100% natural fibers. They run in the $60-$90 range.
