HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY.... Have fun with Pops and the Family... The Meat looks great... Thanks for the education, laughs and tenacity... The world needs more people like you... All the best.. Rock On
First 😊 😊 😊 Hope you had a brilliant birthday with your family, did you treat yourself to anything nice? ………..but now its time to get back in the boat!
Yes! Thank you, we went to dinner a couple times and almost bought an ice cream cake. But at $33 we decided on a couple flavors of ice cream and my wife made a cake, $12.00. Haha win!
Jimmy! Never been a fan of those Milwaukee ratchet I'm the only one in the shop that has the Snap-on Longneck brushless and I also have the seal head Matco and I got to tell you they are so much better than the Milwaukee. I can't stand Antiquated Milwaukee paddle switches. I understand saving money on impact sockets but the Milwaukee prices are pretty much in line now with the other manufacturer so you're not really saving much
Yeah, not long ago the SO wasn’t as good, but it been improved lately. I think my long 3/8 Milwaukee was $239 because I had a battery and charger already. I just like having one battery type so there is always one charged. Not a great tool, could be much better, but it works and has a 5 year warranty. Rethink it once it’s out of warranty though. ;)
Those hub bolts sure were stubborn. If it was a GM product with the yellow Loctite it would have really been a battle. Have you considered one of the right angle air impacts for situations like this? Eric O at South Main uses the Astro right angle with quite a lot of success up in the rust belt. Hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend!
Jimmy, just wondering why don't break out the air tools once in a while. Those cordless tools are for convenience and sometimes not all they're crack up to be.
great video! What hope do us home mechanics have to remove that hub?!? is there a tool you could recommend? I dont have an air hammer and honestly would be concerned that i was doing more damage than good.
Most can be done with a good ratchet and socket set. Some require a slide hammer kit and something like PB blaster for corroded or rusty parts. In extreme cases an air hammer or large punch and sledge hammer will be needed.
They are good cars, just keep up with the oil, change it before the manufacturer recommends and if anything like a noise starts, have it looked at. Nothing really unusual to watch for on them. :)
Another Honda tech here, sadly rear hub bearings on the newer generation Hondas seize really bad. It’s almost like they are welded together. I’ve seen a tech pop a wheel stud out and use a bolt to push against the knuckle to try and push it out, and he cracked the knuckle through the backing plate. I also don’t know if it’s true as to why those spacers are between the caliper bracket and knuckle, at least up north here in Canada after 4 years the spacers are unable to be removed in 1 piece they seize in so badly.

Thanks very much for saying so! :)
Another Great Day in the shop!
Thanks Scott!
Hope you and your dad had a great birthday!
Thank you Tony!!

LOL.....🤣 "That's the torque spec. When your arm slams into the wheel well" Byt the way, Happy Birthday Jimmy.
You got that right! Haha, thank you!

Good morning so many people panic when it's a hub bearing job not Jimmy, he gets it done. have a great day sir. 👍👍🛻
Haha, thanks Jimmy!
Thanks for taking time out for giving us great content during your days off Jimmy. Hope you had a great Birthday!
I appreciate that! :)
Good short Jimmy. Thanks for working on your time off. 👍 👍
No problem 👍 thanks Peter!
Thanks Jimmy, very useful information. Hope you are enjoying the time off!
Always welcome! It has been a very nice weekend!
Watching you struggle to beat that thing out in Florida makes the northern guys smile!
Haha
When manufacturers warranty expires their inputs on labor rates should expire also. An hour is spent pulling on/off the lift and test drive.
Exactly! These times are for brand experienced mechanics on 2-3 year old cars at most.
Thank you man, best mechanic video out there. Super informative, not to much talking, super informative funny and easy to follow thank you
I appreciate that! Thanks Cody!

I’ve looked at them, I see Capri and Astro sell the same or similar one rebranded. Might get one eventually.
What a great video! I’m going to tackle it soon. Wasn’t sure how to diagnose a bad bearing. Thanks man
Glad it helped!

I just prefer not having to grab the air hose, once in a while when it’s really needed. Otherwise all electric.
Jimmy I had to give up pulling wrenches because of MY rusty knuckles . lol
Haha
Thanks for posting as you saved me from even attempting this.
Very welcome!
👍👍
Thanks James!
rust is the new loc-tight on them ford bolts , my 2015 mustang GT has longer bolts then necessary all over the place ,,and I don't know why .
Yeah, they love having 4-6 threads sticking thru to get her rust. :/
Jim hi would you check it this way in the front as well ?
Yeah, any bad races results in a chatter in the spring.
6:52 A Canadian watching this thinks, "You don't know rust..."

Nice job ,Jimmy.
Any advice for an owner of a 2017 fusion like myself ?

Considering having a shop do this as I dont have the tools to get myself out of the jams you did. What did you charge for this job?
It is about 2 hours labor plus parts. So roughly $500 or so all together. It can vary by area though.
and this is the reason why I will not part with any of my air ratchets
I have a Snap On knuckle buster, great ratchet. Just be careful, haha.

Mind you, I honestly don’t think manufacturers consider the northern/rust areas of the world. I’ve seen some 5 year old cars be completely rusted away
Yeah, rust and corrosion are our nemesis for sure! Manufacturers want to make it thru warranty.
What torque wrench are you using now?
I am using an ICON digital with angle 1/2", been great.
@@JimmyMakingitwork how is it I have the flex head one it’s pretty nice
Where was the driveshaft lol?
Haha, all depends on FWD or RWD.
