thanks Jesus. Very comprehensive and thorough. The bit about the clipping through multiple layers was especially helpful if subtle. It would have been good to show the difference with and without more clearly. But many thanks for all your stuff and the focus on advanced techniques.

    Hello Jesus Ramirez.
Firstly Congratulations on dong such a fantastic job of teaching PS to so many photographers and helping them navigate through the many labyrinths of the software….. one step at a time.
Managed to visit your channel yesterday while surfing and it was such a pleasant surprise.
With regards to this particular tutorial - have almost zero knowledge in the pen tool. Therefore tried to adapt and gain from this tutorial by using the 'Lasso Tool'. The steps which I undertook -
1] after making the selection (via lasso tool) chose a new Solid Colour fill layer. This also helped me skip the step of combine shapes
2] Changed the blending mode of the Solid Colour fill layer to ‘colour’
3] Then I created a levels adjustment layer and deleted the mask from the levels adjustment layer.
4] Created a new levels adjustment mask based on the solid colour’s mask (via Control Click).
5] Linked the solid layer and the adjustment layer. NOT via clipping.
Now when I change the selection in the solid layer via Transform method the mask of the adjustment layer also changes shape accordingly because both the layers are linked. This is to ensure the step you mention starting Timeline 9.28 minutes.
This method also helps me eliminate the steps of going into Layer Style window and un-checking the ‘Blend Clipped Layers as Group’.
Feel this method would help those who are not familiar with the pen tool but are more conversant with the lasso tool. Would also appreciate your feedback whether this method helps to reach the same destination that you had intended.
One minor drawback which I noticed - this method is good when one is only transforming the selection. If another area is being added via lasso tool then both the masks will need to be painted white in the newly added area. Similarly if any area needs to be subtracted then that area needs to be selected and painted black in both the masks.
    Thank you.

Fantastic Jesus. When you went into the blending modes area and un-checked the clipping mask area, that was new to me. But the pen tool is powerful and I use it a lot. Where I usually get confused so many times and I have to practice more to make it second nature, is when you combine masks. In this case, you subtracted from the shape. That's the area where I usually struggle.

Very interesting technique. Could this have been achieved by making selections for each wall but use gradient map layers instead? That way you can change the colours to anything you want and also maintain realistic black, grey and white tones.?

Hi Jesus. This tutorial has been a great help.I've been changing the colours of 1.walls, 2.ceiling, 3.trim and 4. door in a photo of a room - following your steps! I've got the ceiling, walls and trim just as I want them. But, when I try and do the same process to the door, I cant get the blending mode to do anything when I select COLOUR. I've tried saving, quitting PS and reopening; redrawing the paths; even completely changing the colour in case any of these factors might create the problem. So, in terms of layers, I got 3 previous layers (ceiling, walls and trim). All perfect, no issue with selecting COLOUR BLENDING MODE. Now, Im trying to work on the door in a 4th layer, but the COLOUR BLENDING wont work at all? Any ideas would be very welcome indeed. Thank you very much. Graeme

Am sort of new to PS, thanks to Corona I get to play with many of raw files now. Your tutorials are an excellent way to learn, at least for me your stuff is the best out there! One question for this tutorial: why use vectors, not masks? Especially the area around the bed takes a lot of effort to 'draw', and without knowing better I would have chosen select and mask. Thanks!
