Hi lovely crafty friends💕a few ladies mentioned the finished cards go by to quickly to see them, as I am not able to change that in the video I added a picture of the finished cards in the community tab at the top⬆️And you can also check out the blogpost with all finished projects, products and some close-up pictures: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html hope this helps💖
Great techniques. I was shocked when you read that warning. I just own the inks not the sprays. And I certainly don't blame you that you don't want cancer again. I'm sure it is painful, scary & not something ppl want to get, but I'm so glad you recovered from your cancer bc we have your awesome videos to watch.
I live in California. I appreciate the attempt by our state (Prop 65) to let consumers know what products have substances with potentially cancer-causing effects -- I'm obviously not going to send every product off to a lab to be tested, so I overall I am glad we do this. However, there are two major problems with Prop 65 labeling: first, the way you use a product and your overall exposure to the product can make a big difference about how dangerous it is. And second, there's no indication of degree of potential harm, so something that has a tiny risk gets the same warning as something that's actually quite toxic and linked to cancer at small levels. People are then faced with still having to make their own risk assessment without being able to be experts about every little thing. I’m impressed that you called Ranger to try to work out what the Prop 65 meant for the Distress Oxide spray product and how big the risk was. Folks who have had cancer (like yourself) or other health consequences from exposure to chemicals (as I have) are justifiably going to be more cautious. I wouldn't be surprised if other people just ignore the Prop 65 warning because it's on too many things, not realizing that they are possibly making dangerous choices for themselves (not in reference to this Ranger product but for things like pesticides). Anyway, sorry about the rant… Thank you for your lovely video -- be well!
Risha Bond thanks for sharing💕I think when they go overboard with warnings, the effect will be the opposite of what they aim to achieve. I also found other sprays that are shipped in a spray bottle as powder and you need to add water at home don’t have those warnings and they also can potentially be inhaled. It’s always good to follow your own feeling on using products or not, I wanted to know more so I just went straight to the source, as they are the experts😊and I thought I’d share so more people know, how and what. Sending you a big hug it was a great rant😉😘💖take care💕
It is a good idea of the government of California to create this warning label but it is only a small step. There are so many issues which should be taken care of like how our food is processed (hormones - antibiotics in food - sugar in food - how animals are treated …) and only a few issues come to daylight because politicians and commercial guys are best friends and these buddies arrange the steppingstones to cancer and other deseases :-(
Thank you for the warning, Gerry - it pays to read the labels. VERY happy that cancer is in your rear-view mirror now, and appreciate that you continually inspire us with your creativity.
Thank you for looking into the health issue about spraying this product, I appreciate that very much!!!! So sorry you had cancer 12 years ago, but I am happy you are healthy now!!!💗💐!!!! I love all the non-spray techniques, I have tried a few & now I will try some of your ideas. Thank you for sharing your time and creativity, HUGS!!!
Brilliant. Some of these have occurred to me but seeing Gerry demo each of many ways to create backgrounds without spraying got me going on creating fall and Christmas backgrounds to use my DO Sprays. Thank you1

Thank you, Gerry! Had no idea about the cancer warning. I love your ideas, especially the way you created two cards with the last technique, using the both die cuts and the paper you cut from! I'm grateful for non-spraying approaches since I make the biggest messes when I spray anyway!
Beautiful cards and tags. Your tutorial came at the right time because I just bought several bottles of distress oxides ink sprays. Thank you for sharing!
Very cool ways to use sprays Gerry! Thank you for reaching out and getting all that information and sharing it with us. You are very kind. Your cards and tags are very beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I know this is old but first sorry to hear you had cancer but very happy your still with us. I have 2 oxide pad and just today yup I'm late using these but I used a paint brush with No water and painted a ceramic pumpkin and it turned out great. So now wondering if the spray or the reniker would be better painting with. Just thought I would share just incase you would like to try. Have a wonderful day
This is good information to have about the sprays. I use a mask when I use spray adhesive, so I can do the same if I want to use the sprays. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed in the sprays as sprays, so your backgrounds without spraying are wonderful!
jarobertson6 thanks💕yes that’s a good idea, they don’t blend as nice a mica sprays, do they? But you can do other things with them then you can with the ink pads. I hope this video will help people in deciding if they want to try them or not💕
Very wise of you to find out information about warnings on products. You are a very special person and I’m so glad to know you! At the moment I don’t have any of the distress oxide sprays and will think seriously whether I need them as I have the oxide pads 😒 hugs to you Gerry 💖💜💖
Sandy West thanks sweetie, right back at you💖😘there are lots of techniques you can do with the ink pads and sprays are not for everyone as they are messier😁, as most things out there not everything is for everyone, go with your feeling, and when in doubt don’t😉😘
I'm often surprised how people use products without reading the labels. There are many products in mixed media with similar warnings. One of the first I used said do not leave on skin for any extended time. But I saw many women using their fingers to move the product around. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Most of my sprays I'd rather not spray anyway!
Lorie Newcomb reading is hard when you see some fab craft product😉 In the meantime I did learn that the spray is actually safer than bacon (this was mentioned by a scientist) but still it’s a good thing to take precautions. You’re welcome 💖💕
Thank you! I've spent $$$$$ on the "SHimmer Dylusion Sprays and they clog after a few sprays. I have purchased $$$ in replacements sprays, only to have them clog as well. At least now I can salvage some of my investment. You are very kind for sharing.
you're welcome💖 You could try putting the clogged ones in warm water let them soak, and then try to let some water through hanging the tube in a bowl of water in the sink and squeeze the cap a bunch of times (pointing downwards😉) to see if you can get it going again. Total bummer if they clog, absolutely, but we crafters are clever and "we can't be caught before one hole" totally weird Dutch saying😁
@@GerrysCraftRoom Thank you!, I have tried all the obvious ways, to no avail. Since Ranger sells the replacement sprays for close to $5 each, I think they have got a racket going on. I haven't tried the Oxide Sprays yet. My issue is with the Dylusion Shimmers. I'm giving up on the sprays and trying Your Methods. Again, Thank You!
Lovely panels, index cards and card fronts. You have such a great eye for design and beauty. All of the creative projects made with these are beautiful 🤗 God bless you Gerry ❤ XOXO
you're welcome💖 Yes I think it will, make sure to shake before adding it to your brush, to mix both parts and shake each time before using the brush, have fun
I have lupus and I am currently recovering from pneumonia. Today I tried the water brush idea, and it worked like a charm! I did add a small metal ball in each one to aid in the shaking/mixing. ❤

Oh Gerry, I'm so sorry you had to go through Cancer, but just as I'm sure you are, I'm glad you beat the horrid thing! Absolutely gorgeous backgrounds and as always, beautiful cards. Best not to spray!
Working with all craft supplies raises concern especially when they are sprayed, so thank you! What is the difference between Distress Oxide reinkers and spray? Is it possible to create your own spray solution by mixing reinkers with water?
Debrah Binard you’re welcome 💖💕the spray is the exact same product as the ink pads but then liquid, when you add water to the inkers in a spray bottle it’s the ink diluted, that’s why you need to shake the bottle before using as the dye and pigment part of the ink separate💖so you can definitely mix reinkers with water, but you get a different product then, hope this helps.
@@GerrysCraftRoom Gerry Im sorry, Im not understanding. What Im hearing you said is the spray is the exact same as the ink in pads, just diluted. But then you said I can mix reinkers with water, but I would get a different product. Since reinkers are used to reink pads, arent they the same ink as in the pads, just diluted? So if I shook the reinker and put some in bottle with water, wouldnt it be the same as the spray product?
Debrah Binard hi Debrah no, the spray is the exact same as the ink pad undiluted, so it’s the same product as the inkpad but liquid💕hope this clears things up
You showed the cards you made from these wonderful backgrounds but it was literally so, so fast I couldn't see the cards. Please show them longer. Thanks, PatriciaD
pdh8447 thanks for letting me know and for the lovely compliment💖it was mentioned by another viewer (I can’t change the video anymore), so I added a picture in the community tab with all cards and you can check them out in the blogpost if you like: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html, hope this helps💕
Pam Sparks thanks💕you’re welcome 💖another thing to think about, thanks for sharing💕I do find some colours are harder to remove when you get them on your fingers🤔
Hi there! I'm sorry if I missed this but I have a question - when doing the backgrounds on cardstock, are you using glossy/coated cardstock or plain old regular cardstock? Thanks!
Fabulous techniques! Just wish you had shown the finished projects for more than a half second. It made it really hard to even pause it to see them better. I totally agree with you that 1 issue with cancer is enough... more than enough, really! Glad you a survivor!!! I haven't read the other comments but I can assure you that California's Prop 65 is an over reaching, over protective piece of legislation in a very liberal state that had a political agenda. Without starting a political debate here, I just want to point out that 49 other states did not pursue similar legislation. Also, there are so many clearly innocuous products forced to carry the warning that US consumers have been conditioned to completely ignore the warning... exactly the opposite affect they wanted. Much money was wasted by corporations to redesign their packaging, and for nothing, which I suspect was the original goal anyway, as many perceive successful corporations to be evil.
Karen Page thanks for your comment💖 I have the link to the blogpost where you can see all the projects (and products) and I will add a picture in the community tab so they are clearer to see for you: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html It came across to me also as it is only in the state of California and I think it’s a bad thing to have warnings like that because when there is something truly dangerous people will tend to ignore that too. Warnings like this should be well thought through and not used if not necessary, just my thoughts. And beyond that eveyone should go with the gut feeling, when in doubt protect yourself😊
I appreciate all the techniques but can u show ur finished project for a little longer. They went by to quickly and I really didn’t get much of a look. Thank u.

Hello! Just discovered your channel. Beautiful background techniques. But your video doesn’t give enough time to the finished cards to appreciate them, in my opinion.
bettie crawford hi Bettie, thanks for the lovely comment and feedback💕you’re right, it was mentioned by a few other ladies (I can’t change the video anymore) so I added a picture of the finished cards in the community tab and here is the link to the blogpost where I have some close-up pictures too: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html
Thank you for the warning. The spiritual meaning of why you got cancer , before I say why you got it let me explain. My friend ask my opinion about cancer being a form of resentment, but I could not respond, because I did not know anything yet. The Bible and The new age world showed about negative stress. The book does not explain how she came up with this concept. Jesus gave me in sight about sin in the Bible and the effects to the body. Scientist say stress is the number one killer , how can that be when we have deadly diseases. So I meditated on it by thinking about it, where does your thoughts ly on your brain. So if the body is not getting the proper nutrients in certain areas or stress is depleting that area it starts to weaken that area by negative thoughts. Scientist has done studies to objects and looked at negativity to the brain. By thinking negative can effect the brain and also I tested her concept by going to strangers when their hurt and she has been right and hated that I knew their personal thoughts. The Christians finally caught up with concept so it can be all or one and a couple. It's to long but here's the book Feelings buried Alive Never Die.

Debrah Binard hi Debrah no, the spray is the exact same as the ink pad undiluted, so it’s the same product as the inkpad but liquid💕hope this clears things up
thank you for sharing love all the backgrounds
Sandy Hall thanks💖you’re welcome 💕
Thank you for sharing concerns we need to know. Enjoyed your many ways to use them and cards.
Super video!!
Jan Crissman thanks💖💕you’re welcome 💖
You showed the cards you made from these wonderful backgrounds but it was literally so, so fast I couldn't see the cards. Please show them longer. Thanks, PatriciaD
pdh8447 thanks for letting me know and for the lovely compliment💖it was mentioned by another viewer (I can’t change the video anymore), so I added a picture in the community tab with all cards and you can check them out in the blogpost if you like: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html, hope this helps💕
Thank you for this video
you're welcome💖
Thanks for sharing your techniques... fun! I think it's good to keep the ink off your fingers too because we do absorb through our skin too.
Thanks!
regular cardstock, often with a little texture, hope this helps💖
Beautiful!
thanks💖

Susan Jerrell 😁thanks😘💖
Karen Page thanks for your comment💖 I have the link to the blogpost where you can see all the projects (and products) and I will add a picture in the community tab so they are clearer to see for you: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html
It came across to me also as it is only in the state of California and I think it’s a bad thing to have warnings like that because when there is something truly dangerous people will tend to ignore that too.
Thank u.
Yolanda McCurdy you are not the only one😊 a few ladies mentioned the same thing, as I am not able to change that in the video I added a picture of the finished cards in the community tab this is a video from a while ago so you would have to scroll a bit down💕And you can also check out the blogpost with all finished projects, products and some close-up pictures: www.gerryscraftroom.com/2019/06/7-ways-to-use-distress-oxide-ink-sprays.html hope this helps💖
It's to long but here's the book Feelings buried Alive Never Die.
thanks💖
Everything has to have that California cancer warning. It’s ridiculous
cancer warnings should not be "mis-used" like that, it's way to serious for that😏
