21:11 I remember sailor moon 90s era toonami dub . They aired a lot of episodes except the 5th season until viz media acquired it in 2014 and a Blu ray sets release
There is one vocal song from the Sailor Moon DiC dub soundtrack that hasn't been released. It was called "Only A Memory Away", an alternate version was put on the official soundtrack album in its place. I wish the original version could be found and released. From what I've heard, the songs were swapped for the album because the original wasn't "upbeat" enough.
Good timing, since Rachel Lillis, Hela's voice actress in Cubix, died this August after a battle with breast cancer. I had fond memories listening to Lillis' voice on other anime and video games, especially Misty, Jessie, and Jigglypuff in the Pokémon series.
I'd heard about Rachel's unfortunate passing after I'd made the video but had no clue she had anything to do with Cubix. I was never super into the Pokémon anime but always loved hearing her voice as Jigglypuff in the Super Smash Bros series. I was really sad to hear of her passing. She'll definitely be missed
Didn't she also voice Raska? I could be wrong on this though but iirc the wiki stated that. Then again it has been a while I checked that so I could be wrong.
Original was best though. The TPC voices went down the toilet and those who stayed with the same 4K actors were given poor direction by TPC go more cute and kids friendly which down marketed their original 4K accents. 4K may be known for bad imagery taking everything away from the picture but for the dubs themselves they were top notch maybe even the best out there at the time of the 90s. Before them it was Harmony Gold and they only sold their works on downmarket mono bootleg quality VHS for InterVision video in the UK half of the time ok the US Harmony Gold were better quality going for Vestron and the brand that Tempo Video in the UK is deals rather than going in house with InterSound at InterVision Video on Kids Cartoon Collection and MasterVision like they did during the UK runs of it with the either too bright or too dark pictures droney sound and pirate quality picture band flickers on the top of the video output. And in the middle it was Bruce Falconer Funimation dubs great top notch music but thats all it was the actual voice acting was worse than 4K and Harmony Golds talent they actually had good voices whilst Funimation is known for shouting and bad voice talent when I knew them. Dragonball Z the music was great but the voices were overboard the dub was terrible Dragonball Normal by Harmony Gold is actually more of what I actually expect it to sound like just without the name changes I guess the villains were alright as they need gruff shouting insane accents and sometimes to go overboard to put a villians portrayal forwards so it maybe did do something right other than the music but the good guys those accents are unfitting and badly at that Harmony Gold and 4Kids were better at betraying the the good guys voices. As for Saban and DIC I probably seen the most Pan European Dessin ANIME and Asian ANIME styles animated shows dubbed from them and Saban often borrowed Harmony Gold and ZIV at InterSound talents but airing it in high quality stereo so the first time you hear them talents properly is probably on their shows rather than on Poo Gold where the quality of the video is poor and the sound is like a bucket on their head and DIC itself was high quality InterSound for some of it's shows so many of Harmony Gold worked for them already. You may have had multiple different writers for each brand doing the re-writings but if your audio is through InterSound then you have the same voice talents and musicians at your disposal then the other brands to use InterVision as a home for recording audio so it works hand in hand the dubs are all the same studio different directions by all the brands to use them. That means Harmony Gold and ZIV the InterSound own labels often threw the rights to dubs to each other and they all tried to do their own thing and re-writes and some parts were swapped around parts but still the same talents and all sorts and one was on MasterVision through Mastertronic and the other through Kids Cartoon Collection on InterVision but both a ZIV and a Harmony Gold came out it was very confusing times. But it was more straight forwards for true outsiders to use the studio for audio though I feel none of this swapping around of rights to the different head producers and the voice talent and different attempts to put a good version over it's just straight series record and play out for the likes of Saban and DIC to sometimes use it. Saban and DIC also had their own voice talents to use on their shows so you get different voices than the standard as well so the outsiders was more versatile than the one direction same talents we got more from a DIC and Saban InterSound dub whilst Harmony Gold and ZIV is like you have Mike Reynolds (McConnohie) he writes stuff for Harmony Gold but voice talents for Harmony Gold, ZIV and Saban lets put him on our next show and he turned up on almost everything but DIC to record there maybe even them too. I guess compared to those days you know who you would be getting these days at least because 4 different brands or more using the studio I think BRB with it's Spanish Dessin ANIME also used it too you always know the talent you will be getting now but back then it was a hodgepodge of InterSound talent to do every brand like Mike Reynolds then you had a hodgepodge of different people from InterSound and Outside Talent working with the InterSound regulars. Now you are other given a list this is the talent that works for our audio studio you will hear them on this show. But the thing is I still feel the voice talents from these InterSound studios and these 4Kids studios are more recognisable talents and better it doesn't really matter that you know what to expect now when you had a hodgepodge back then from multiple writers using the same studio and talents for pretty much the same brand slap on labels with different re-writers for all the labels and thats is which was really different but other than that same audio studio means same dubs in everything but label, writings and mixing the same talents up so we didn't know what we were getting other than Mike which was the standard villains voice for them all. I think these days though if InterSound were still around they would slimline quite a lot now even their voice talents and be recording at a lot higher quality or they wouldn't survive there is no VHS anymore so you won't get a difference between Saban, BRB and Dic distribution label sound quality and the Harmony Gold and ZIV producers. I still think what if 4K Entertainment did a project before it's death with the more edgy for adults meaning 4000 moniker and using more darker tones than the voice tones they already sometimes used and what if InterSound didn't dissolve into All American Television then was put out of business not dubbing at all. Would the current brands to be heads of the business table be in trouble to our veteran actors in the better know what you get more slimlined talents dubs of today.
DIC is pronounced (deek). They would say in that way during their production card segment of the end credits of Sailor Moon and other animated series they worked on.
in regards to d.i.c.'s dub of sailor moon, they only dubbed the 1st 2 seasons, then the dubbing rights moved over to cloverway and continued d.i.c.'s censorship but they didn't skip any episodes like d.i.c. did

I remember commercials for Cubix, and a Burger King promotion, but I don't think I've ever seen it. Your description of the premise makes it really sound a lot like medabots.
I wish we got an adult swim toonami block similar to what vice did, but with a bigger variety of anime rather than just the underrated and cult classics that vice had 1:46
I'd love to but wrestling content is a massive pain in the ass to get past copyright so I don't know how much of it I'd be able to do. I'll definitely consider it though
I honestly think the mark cubix thing is real,I mean the UK is kinda soft when it comes to shit like this, although sometimes they like to get a little bit naughty with names, like a character in Grizzly Tales For Gruesome Kids being named "Fanny" or the multiple characters in uk media named Dick
That's true I think there's a good possibility it's real. After making the video I found out that bluebaron has pretty extensive knowledge of 4kids entertainment so I don't think it would be something made up

It seems like a few people remember the Burger King toys from the show. I never even knew it had a BK promo before people had mentioned them but I guess a lot of early 2000s shows did 🤣
I wrote them a letter on cartoon network and i guessed they read it and then a few other people did the same and the test run was a success. If i remember all i wrote was bascily theres really nothing to watch on tv anymore toonami was apart of my life our lives.
It did air on toonami uk and was uncut as per the dvd at ten thirty at night post watershed although CNX showed it at half 8 possibly not showing the episode uncut although is mentioned on digital spy forum.
I live in the UK where because the Kids channels were co owned by Sky as well as their respective companies a lot of the 4Kids in particular shows which are not hooked to any type of channel debuted on Sky One before WWE Smackdown used to be on in the morning before the 1am showings began so watching Smackdown originally used to be having to watch 4Kids and later D'OCon attempts at underground kids shows like Pocket Dragons. Shows from these underground brands because there was no Pop until Toons and Tunes to air them didn't go to Toonami ect. until their re-run Braceface didn't go to Pop until Pop Girl and stayed on Sky One before then. Cubix the look of it does ring a bell from these Sky One shows I had to injore for some smackers back in the day and so does the name of Mark as well. Yu-Gi-Oh I remember being one pretty dark and decent even for a pre 4K 4Kids butchering it's a shame they changed to 4K and never brought out a single production under that 4000 futuristic name banner I would have liked to see how this adult One Piece with the original theme music would have been like on the channels which air adult animation picking it up and the true Yu-Gi-Oh as I like many of 4Kids voice talents better than the ones to take the same shows over in fact I prefer to read subtitles over the talents off these alternative talents to do the proper versions because they are not the English voices of them characters to me the originals are and Subtitled and 4Kids were the original casts so to see 4K take over 4Kids and redo them adult shows proper could have been amazing and Funimation wouldn't have needed to take over our original voice actors and maybe the original actors may have recorded their voices in darker tones to go better with the adult version as well instead of cutesy. Why did all these other brands to pick up their shows also try to buy over the talents for themselves as well we shall never know. But of course Funimation also had their best sounding characters in these alternative dubs of many shows as well where the 4K was bad too so maybe not bringing every talent on board but the majority they should have kept original. But then the same could be said about Harmony Gold to Funimation dub rights transition stuff as well.
Ok so there used to be a show the only way I can explain it was I think the main character was like a cyborg /android/robot and I want to say his design had a red and blue color scheme and maybe you could see like half of his brain on the head. And either his final transformation or his main enemy looked just like him but I think was black and yellow. Anybody ???

Hey. I am now watching this. So forgive me if I jump the gun. Toonami aired episodic versions of the DBZ original trilogy. I don't believe any footage of the episodes exists, such as if they made next episode previews or episode recaps.
@MediaSensei1138 When Cartoon Network got the rights to the series of 53 episode series, it was actually 61 episodes. On two occasions the 30 minute multi part episodes totalling 8 aired over several days, added to the end of the original cycle before new episodes aired.

Not going to lie, regardless of everything, I still love and am always nostalgic for the dic dub.
Yeah even though I'm not super into Sailor Moon myself I know that quite a few fans have a soft spot for that dub even if it isn't super accurate
Technically it's pronounced deek, but eh what the hell. They're not around anymore 😅
It is but let's be honest, we all thought it wasn't pronounced like that at some point or another and it makes for a good joke so I thought I'd keep it in 🤣. Thanks for watching!
@@MediaSenseiOG How would anyone think that? They say the name out loud in their ID at the end of their shows.
@@theotakux5959for real lol
@@theotakux5959Yup.
when i was a kid, we had cable at home, but not at my grandparents. (mom worked nights so we were at their house as much as home) i decided that at home, i watched sailor moon. at grandparents watched pokemon
Man its been years since I seen cubix ... Man it did not age that well XD
Yeah I'm sure it was cutting edge back in the day but a lot of 3D animated shows from back then are a victim of time 🤣
I remember commercials for Cubix, and a Burger King promotion, but I don't think I've ever seen it. Your description of the premise makes it really sound a lot like medabots.
Bro same here, the kid is like riding around on the robot as he's transformed into like a hover board sailboat type thing ? Is that the same one
I wish we got an adult swim toonami block similar to what vice did, but with a bigger variety of anime rather than just the underrated and cult classics that vice had 1:46
I remember beyblade got a toonami run when in america it did not
You sound like you need to sneeze 🤧, great video
Cubix was my jam. I remember in America at least some fast food had the robots as a toy
What's the name of the song playing in the video? Sounds like a chillhop beat. Great vid btw.
Thanks man!
The background track is Sandbar Beats by Harris Heller
@@MediaSenseiOG Thank you! Keep up the excellent work. I can't wait for what you do next.
Outlaw Star was great
Btw I wonder if you'd be interested in looking into the wrestling channel that was aired in the UK on freeview during the 2000s
I'd love to but wrestling content is a massive pain in the ass to get past copyright so I don't know how much of it I'd be able to do. I'll definitely consider it though
@@MediaSenseiOG i think u might be okay if u stick to the smaller promotions and avoid the new japan pro wrestling and tna footage
After making the video I found out that bluebaron has pretty extensive knowledge of 4kids entertainment so I don't think it would be something made up
@@MediaSenseiOG Yes it's real.
Remember CNX in the UK? It was like a more adult focused toonami channel
I think CNX may have been around when I was very little, I believe that was what was converted into Toonami eventually in around 2003 or so
@@MediaSenseiOG Yeah I was pretty young too when it was on. I remember it aired DBZ during the day and I saw a bit of Spawn at night once. I also remember them showing a horror film on Halloween
@@MediaSenseiOGCNX launched on 14th October 2002 and went defunct on 8th September 2003, the same day as Toonami was launched as a 24 hour kids channel. Also Outlaw Star never aired on the Toonami block while it was on CNX but as a part of CNX itself, it did however air late at night on Toonami when it became a 24 hour kids channel. It was completely unedited on both channels as I remember clearly and have a video recording to prove it m.th-cam.com/video/aXnNBvJpfiA/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUWVG9vbmFtaSBVSyBPdXRsYXcgU3Rhcg%3D%3D I don't know if episode 23 aired unedited though, but according to an archived post on Toonzone it did.
only thing I remember about cubix is that burger king had toy of it and I had cubix arm or his leg, it was a build a robot type toy, didn't go to bk much so I was only ever able to get one or two pieces
It seems like a few people remember the Burger King toys from the show. I never even knew it had a BK promo before people had mentioned them but I guess a lot of early 2000s shows did 🤣
@@MediaSenseiOG yep it was another way of advertisement. like even something like butt ugly martians had one
Wish I can watch Toonami right now, Like I did during my college years.
Best video yet.👍
Thanks man! Hopefully I'm improving with each one 🤣
Ah interesting. Do you have a link to the digital spy forum where it was mentioned? I'm interested to look into it
@@MediaSenseiOG still trying to find it but here is episode 1 on toonami uk with naked melfina
@@MediaSenseiOG I can’t find it but I remember seeing it on toonami uk and it had the “action man” type bodies even for the naked scenes
Anybody ???
Interesting. It doesn't ring any bells but it would be cool if it sparks a memory for anyone else
KIKAIDER???
ANDROID KIKAIDER???
Thats it !
I've been trying to figure out the name of that show for more than a decade
I always thought it was pronounced D-ek that's the way it sounds like when the va says it
Idea:
James Bond
Cartoon cartoons
90s Nickelodeon
I miss toonami
Same here! Since there's no adult swim in the UK we don't have any form of Toonami here anymore
Cubix I played a PlayStation 1 race in game of that I'm in the USA maybe theres a UK version of that game with the name Mark I don't know in the USA release has the name marki guess I can check if you want
Interesting shout, it might be worth looking into it although if the game was released in other European countries they may have just used the same name as the US one since the change sounded specific to the UK
Yes please check if the name was changed for the EU release of the game please
I love cubix thats my show
Yikes I really think Mark Hamil was a better choice for Joker..
Oh absolutely. Best Joker of all time in my opinion!
@@MediaSenseiOG for sure!! Iconic voice. Don't get me wrong I love Tim Curry (ferngully anyone?) but this was not a good fit for him even without bronchitis
mong is a great name for a char in the UK. that guy was stupid. lmao. but yeah Mong is not a common name in korea i guess its just a name they thought sounded nice.
Little did they know it was offensive in other parts of the world 🤣
@@MediaSenseiOG yeah lmao. that made me laugh quite a bit when you mentioned his name. i remember a UK friend i had saying that word alot about his friend who broke his hand in a vending machine
Hey. I am now watching this. So forgive me if I jump the gun. Toonami aired episodic versions of the DBZ original trilogy. I don't believe any footage of the episodes exists, such as if they made next episode previews or episode recaps.
Very interesting. Were these versions of the DBZ movies that were split into multi part episodes? Or were they something entirely different?
@@MediaSenseiOG it wasnt different episodes thats just the way the guid showed it
@MediaSensei1138 When Cartoon Network got the rights to the series of 53 episode series, it was actually 61 episodes. On two occasions the 30 minute multi part episodes totalling 8 aired over several days, added to the end of the original cycle before new episodes aired.
So the video on TH-cam showing the commercials of the 8 days are fake?@freeman1055
@@MediaSenseiOGYou think that is interesting, try and find the two part half hour episodes of Curse of the Blood Rubies from 1995.
20:52 🤨 Nintendo didn't have anything to do with making this game. I think this is a fake video someone uploaded. And not actual gameplay. I don't remember Nintendo ever supporting, having ads, or anything with toonami web games at all.
Looking it up on the wiki, it turns out Nintendo cosponsored the whole trapped in hyperspace event so it would make sense for the Nintendo Power logo to be visible within the game
