If you watch the original cut to the movie, her getting out was a dream and she never gets out in the cave. She just hallucinations her daughter with a birthday cake. They decided to cut that out because it was deemed too depressing for American audiences
So glad the studio heads responsible for that had nothing to do with The Mist’s ending 😅

What a fun girls' trip to the caves! No maps, no exits, just vibes
So it wasn't just that Juno killed Beth. The necklace was from Sarah's husband, Paul. The whole reason the accident happened in the first place was that Paul was having an affair with Juno, and it was on his mind while he was driving, which is why Sarah said that he seemed distracted. Long story short, Juno and Paul "both" died because they were pieces of s***. Sarah also ended up losing her daughter as a result of that. That's why it was significant for Sarah to point out that Paul always said to love each day, because it helps you put together two and two when you see the quote on Juno's necklace. Her killing Beth was just icing on the cake for Sarah.
And more, the trip was about Sarah first cave expedition since her family died. It was supposed to be a moment with her best girls doing something she loves to take her mind off the grief. They all agreed upon an easy breezy cave system just to spend some time with Sarah and Juno not only changed the cave they agreed upon but also took them to a place unexplored that the risks were not known. Juno was so full of guilt due to the affair she wanted to make something extra but it wasn't what the rest wanted. Furthermore, Sarah was already mentally unstable, taking lots of meds and having allucinations prior to going into the caves. Everything that happened was Juno's fault and result of her egocentric personallity.
I believe they made 3 movies of the decent in all but the rest of them are shitty except in the second one Juno is still alive and her and Sarah have a fight scene and everything but Juno eventually ends up dying in the second but the quality and storyline of the other movies jus don’t top the original whatsoever.
Damn just seeing this comment and me just starting the video. Makes me think he didn’t get points of the movie….

Meh I wouldn't undercut Juno's character so much. In the grand scheme, yes she cheated. I wouldn't say she died because she was a POS though. In the cave, she attempted to save her friends. She struck Beth when she snuck up on her in a cave after she was trying to save Holly. When she found the markings, she attempted to save all her remaining friends. If anything, she died because she didn't abandon Sarah after finding the markings immediately. She woulda survived then. Sarah not only left Juno for dead but struck her brutally. In the OG cut of the movie, this also killed Sarah.
Fun Fact: Their screams when the creature shows up were legit. They kept the creature near the set until this scene and scared the living crap out of them. 😂
this movie has some of the most visceral injuries i've ever seen in a horror movie, it's honestly top tier!! shame not many folks have seen it
When she's getting dragged away and scraping her finger nails on the rocks was the worst part for me

The gnomes did not dissapoint
So there were 2 separate endings to this movie you got the one to set up for the sequel. The other ending after Juno in the car jump scare Sarah wakes up in the cave from her fall to the screeches of the creatures, she’s staring at her torch she made and hallucinating seeing a birthday cake and her daughter. She never got out. That’s my favorite ending.
Ah yes. Man. One of my favourite horror movies, it's just the setting of this movie is incredible and it really nails the atmosphere. I can't wait for you to see the 2nd one. I love your reactions :)

Beth dying is her own fault juno was in full survival mode and she sneaks up on her. Absolutely dumb
True but Juno saying she saw Beth die (even though she probably genuinely thought she did) was understandably upsetting for Sarah who had to actually kill her...
even so she should’ve stayed with Beth instead of leaving her to die
The claustrophobia I felt when she gets stuck...GAH! NOPE!!! I'm staying above ground for the rest of my LIFE! XD
This movie is legit terrifying.
The first hour was slow I think to make the dread slowly build that by the time it couldn't get worse it does and catches us off guard with the monsters.
The monsters showing up was a genuine surprise to audiences cause they showed up later in the film. The first 58 minutes made them think this movie was only about the ladies getting lost in caves (which was scary enough). I'm glad they saved the last 40 minutes for the monsters instead of having them there the whole way cause it could have easily gotten old or just not as scary anymore. =) Just my opinion though.
And the crawlers were designed to resemble Nosferatu =)
Any time a movie takes place in a cave, its never peaches
The alternate ending to this is top tier.

You watched the watered down version where they cut out the ending because it was deemed too depressive which shows Sarah is still in the cave where she hallucinates about her Daughter with a birthday cake and ends with sounds of the creatures closing in on her so the scene of her escaping the cave was just Sarah dreaming.
That would've been so much better

I’m going to assume that if a friend of mine asks me to go cave diving with them they secretly hate me. Because this honestly seems like a nightmare.
There have been videos that theorize that the creatures in the cave are actually Prehistoric humans that got lost in the cave system, then they turned to cannibalism to survive for thousands of years, and anyone or anything that gets stuck inside the cave will be their meal. The reason why they have pale skin is because they haven't seen the sun for such a long time.
That's actually a dope ass theory
I'm actually super into the idea of an alternate reality version of this movie where her Aztec death whistle summoned their deaths in the form of ravenous troglodyte gnomes.

I was pleasantly surprise by that movie! At first I thought it would have been really classic (almost cheap) horror story but after seeing it on multiple best horror movies I give it a try. Cant wait to see your take on it!

What you tell the police: *Absolutely nothing until you lawyer up.* IMO if you want the other ladies families to have closure, have your lawyer say you are in the hospital recovering from a cave in caused by a large animal attacking everyone and you were the only one that made it out since you were higher up. They should seal off both ends to keep people safe from the animal and everyone gets a plausible answer.

Good reaction. Fun commentary. I remember the ending differently. The whole escape was shown to be a hallucination and no one actually got out of the cave. Did I misremember this movie?

I've always loved this film. It's funny because it's set here(N.C.) but was actually filmed in Scotland. It looks surprisingly similar.

I am sure it has been said since I am 11 months late. The monsters imo were old men/cave spelunkers that got trapped down there and they lost their sight and had to adapt to life in the dark depths. They breeded and just became monsters eating animals from that hole and all then the new cave dievers.
fun fact: when they made this movie, they wanted the actors to show real fear so they didn't tell them about the monsters

Is it just me, or did everyone else start feeling better when the creatures appeared? I can wrap my head around fighting humanoid things. Being trapped in a way too small tunnel until you died IS the nightmare.

the original ending to it is much better and darker
original ending is getting out after she killed almost everyone there and then second movie begins right away after that
@@divacroft1034 No the original ending, that the rest of the world got, is Sarah hallucinating that she escaped and she wakes up still in the cave and imagines her daughter there with her and with a birthday cake and you can hear the creatures closing in on her. She doesn’t escape. But the ending was deemed too depressing for US audiences so they cut it.
The sequel was only made because of the cut ending for the US version of the movie. The rest of the world got the original ending. The original studio and the director had no intentions of making a sequel and you could see that in the original ending. It was a horrifying end that suited the movie.

According to the lore the cave monsters used to be humans. That's why they look humanoid. They adapted quickly to their surroundings. That's why they're blind. Shorter in stature, and have nails capable of climbing on walls.
Also yes, they use sound to navigate.
It's also rather idiotic that they brought an ice axe to a cave with no ice.

Lol nice throw. You had me dying bro. Idk why but it was funny af. Never realized how ass that throw was. Saw this in theaters when it came out. Entire audience thought it was just about claustrophobia and spelunking. Next thing you know its about giant Gollems while being claustrophobic. And more obviously. Was the first good horror in a while at the time. Refreshing
Juno banged her husband btw. That was her necklace. She was also tripping at the end. I'm sure the comments explained it. She hallucinated the escape
Juno got smoked. She may not have intended to get Beth. BUT, the fact remains that Beth and Junk wouldn’t have been in that fight has she not basically put them in that situation.
So eh collateral damage at that point. And the fact that once she realized she got Beth she dipped and basically left her as a lunchable to those things.

There are three endings. The one here, the one where she thinks she escaped but turned out she didn't and the one where she did. The one where she did leads into the sequel which has an arrogant asshole cop that will piss you the feck off I promise.
Whilst the film is set in America the whole thing was filmed here in the UK with most the actresses being British hence you wondering if one or more were English.
I found this and the sequel were just brilliant, scary and gut-wrenching.

the creatures are called wendigos when a human results to eating other humans in the mountains this is what they evolve into. theres a lot more to it but this is like a summary
