    Beautiful. I turn resin blanks for pens and handles. I'm saving your video because I want to try this. I didn't realize how inexpensive the glass turning thing was. Keep up the nice videos.

    I have been experimenting on the stemless glasses and for some reason a bubble of resin forms on the bottom. Any suggestions how to prevent this from happening? Thank you

      Hi you need to take some resin off when you are blending with the spatula. You can also take the bubble off in first couple of hours and then just reheat the base to smooth it out. I have a video on making ceramic diffuser vases that show how I scrape the excess resin off. Hope that helps

    Beautiful!! The resin seems to be a little thicker than I've ever seen. Is that because of the kind you're using? or did you let it sit and thicken before applying? Thicker seems to be better for this.

    • @starfishdesign_nz
      @starfishdesign_nz  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I apply a good amount of resin over the glass and I always warm my resin first in a heated bath so it flows easily. You don’t want it too thick though. When it’s all on the glass I gently heat it with heat gun - it thins it out nicely and a the excess runs off. Don’t overheat it or you will lose your design. It’s a balance that you will get with a few practices to get just the right thickness for your project.

      @@michelleelle4622 hi I do sit my resin in warm bath before using as it can get very cold here and the resin can be thicker. It gets thinner when I gently heat it on the glass. The finished resin layer on the glass is nice and thin.

    These are beautiful, can they go in the dishwasher or hand wash?

    • @starfishdesign_nz
      @starfishdesign_nz  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi not recommended as it gets too hot in dishwasher and could soften the resin. My husband has accidentally put mine in there (told him 100x not too lol) and they have been okay.

    • @starfishdesign_nz
      @starfishdesign_nz  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@joannemerriner2407 most machines come with the foam. You can buy extra foam from Amazon or you can use pipe lagging foam from plumbing supply shop. Also I use kids foam noodle for swimming it can be cut into sizes you want very inexpensive.

    How long is the tumble machine left on to run once the resin patternation meets your satisfaction please?

    • @starfishdesign_nz
      @starfishdesign_nz  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I leave my machine turning over night in a warm room so that the resin is touch dry and ready to remove. Once design has started to cure on glass after approx 2 hrs it doesn’t change much more in design.

    Thank you so much for the detailed video, I have been practicing with doing wine glasses for a couple of weeks, trying to get ready for a fall show coming up, this will help me so much, since coastal is pretty much all I am taking! hi you can wipe off some of the excess resin as it may be too thick. If you get build up of resin on the bottom of your glass just use a stick or spatula to scrape the blob off - you can do this for a couple of hours of turning while the resin is still sticky but use a heat gun to smooth it off again. Check that your glasses or tumblers are also level when turning as the resin might be gravitating to the bottom. I just posted a short video making little ceramic reed diffuser vases that I use similar process but you will see me wiping some of the resin off when I am spreading it to take the excess off. happy resining
