I have a funny story. I live in the Midwest USA. Our usual weather in November through February is unpredictable but we can usually expect snow and/or ice in January or February. Once in in every 5 years or so we might have a white Christmas. I was at the supermarket and an older gentleman was helping me with my bags. We were having a conversation about our unseasonably warm November. He said you know our weather hasn’t been the same since we put a man on the moon! I thought that was an unusual remark! 😂
@@lisahinton9682True. True. But I have a lot of sympathy for NASA. They were probably in the final stages when they figured out the earth is flat and the rocket wouldn't be able to escape the dome.
This story just reinforces my feelings about what I call future ghosts. We know that time is not strictly linear even though it appears so. We live it in one direction. I once stayed in a house alone and in the wee small hours I was woken by footsteps. I was scared! No one else was supposed to be there. The house was old and run down, and I thought it might be burglars thinking that the place was empty. I shone my phone torch around hoping to put them off. But the footsteps kept on through the house. I wondered if the owner had come unexpectedly back. It sounded like his step. I got up quietly and slipped on my shoes to check or run. Grabbed my bag and crept into the hall. There was no one there. I switched on all the lights. No one. But it felt weird. Not so very long after the house owner, whom I thought had come in, came to a tragic end. Thanks Tony, Back to my ironing. Hi Tony, hope all is well and family healthy and looking forward to whatever festivities you plan and attend. I'm a Dylan Thomas White Christmas gal- I haven't had a decent "dump" yet- I waxed my toboggan like a surfboard on the Prairies once- everything's gray, dead, dirty now- snow changes the landscape, the light and sound and some of the displays look so sadly out of place...but Californian's feel different- right. And ghost stories are better with snow phantoms! Namaste ( I've got so far behind on your channel- this story, with the mistletoe and Japanese lanterns, and the food and of course, "toffs" and their strange, to me customs! Thank you for ferreting out all these special tales- good oh the maids!) I sure wish I could afford TH-cam Premium and to become a Patron of yours- do you believe it- at the end, you'd barely taken your last breath- I was SO HANGING ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT- I guessed the end- damned ADVERTISEMENT- starting blabbing! Enough! Your book haul sounds SO ENVIABLE- WE HAVE ONE BOOK STORE AND SHE, THE CAPITALIST, OWNER WHO IS INTO THE MONOPOLY "PUT THEM OUT OF BIZ- HER HUSBAND, GREEDILY TRIED AN AIRLINE TAKE OVER WHICH PUT MANY OUT OF WORK- enough of my political diatribe- you lived in Wales! Lucky duck- true hauntings, sounds great- your not repeating yourself like an old fart- far from it- when I was young my cousins and I used to tease my grandfather because he talked of the PALM TREES in Cornwall- we didn't believe him- !!! True. I love my attic when it rains- we spent money on insulation- got ripped off and lost precious space- my style of house - many people fix up their attics into a single apartment- but it takes money- legally you need an outdoor set of stairs naturally for safety- we don't use our attic currently- it was our TV room and so we needed a window air conditioner and we bought a somewhat cheesy but very warming, little replica coal stove, flames done with mirrors- you've seen them! I think a house needs at least one fireplace, preferably wood burning- the gas replacements don't cut it- I love the scent of certain woods like good incense! And the hiss and crackle- you know me with "sounds"- you writers are truly blessed, the historians of The Clan! I know I sound like a twit but I imagine- all this keto diet stuff- I imagine our ancestors sitting in their caves at day's end, no, not gnawing on bones- much more sophisticated and NOT THE FLINTSTONES- you probably aren't too familiar with Hanna Barbera- bit up in age group than Bill and Ben- yes I vaguely recall them from our CBC or American PBS- the folks who brought Sesame Street and The Muppets to the world- the guy I was dating, thought more adults watched Sesame Street! It was very politically correct- an attempt at racial and sexual inclusion I guess- I'm recalling from tonight's tall, the uncle who weighs his words- I am going to start Journaling again and last night to try to get my sleep cycle back so I'm not up at 2am- I did deep breathing and a body scan- you know wherein you start at your toes, tense, hold, hold, then relax each major muscle group- up to the forehead and scalp- I used to do that 3x a day because I get panic attacks and hold my breath- I don't think people really pay enough attention to their breathing- not like your friend Wim Hoffer- I tried some exercise though- saw it on R.B's channel- I KNOW, either dig him or loathe him! He had Wim on and the exercise! Whoa nearly made me pass out- no yogi here! I've let so much slide- In the Beatles film, A Hard Day's Night- Ringo and Paul's grandfather, can't remember that terrific character actor's name- great in that role except he reminded me of my abusive father- Ringo turns to him, and with his huge eyes, sigh! Replies, "yeah I guess being old takes up most of your time- something to that effect- grandfather, a trouble maker looks at him with fake "empathy"- he's sneaky, I think Paul called him, " a keen or king mixer"- well, being emotionally ill takes up most of one's time- you miss those first spring flowers so to speak- always on guard, "who is going to hurt or reject me?" That sort of thing- you know from your nursing work- I'm very grateful I'm not schizophrenic- one huge blessing- I've had several friends-sadly short lived friendships- one committed suicide- sorry, listen to me- I DO watch David Bowie- even Christmas with Bing Crosby and a "no underwear, natural blonde- added footage of David and Marianne Faithfull dressed as a nun! All she did was wrap a huge piece of black cloth about herself- and this for AMERICAN TV! Both high I expect- David's in red and black vinyl and make-up and feathers! What a gas as we used to say- I miss him and I'm so glad TH-cam has so much footage of Lady Faithfull with Her Seven Deadly Sins! I probably told you I prefer my "idols" tarnished! I've lost my train of thought- Amazon has again screwed people, haven't bought a book in months and they put my favorite record store out of business- I loved talking music- what a world. I watched Peter Sellers in an oldie, classic Sellers, THE PARTY, if you haven't seen it, check it out- he gets invited to a nightmare house- water courses running through and fully automated! You can imagine- I hated that mansion then and owing one of those annoying little blobs which talk, deliver weather, vacuum- I wish! My joints don't permit, I don't mind housework at all- that's a sign I'm old-er! This thing, called ALEXA? comes in a set- my cats sit on them, trying to hatch some sort of cuckoo type bird out of Edward Gorey!!!!! Loud cheers. Love Edward Gorey, if I had the money I'd have his postcards sealed, made into tiles for a couple of walls- the idiotic gizmo will NOT RESPOND - TRY GETTING IT TO PLAY THE FUGS!!!! BUT THEN OUT OF THE BLUE- STARTS YAPPING- scares the crap out of one- my poor schizophrenic friend, Jamie would think Jesus was talking- we need, obviously to reprogram them- and me- promised myself, my therapist, my husband, and you and one or two other channels, not to blather on. Another doctor wants me in some sort of group via Zoom and exercising, major aerobics at least 3x a week- told me there is actual science to back up the results- with an hour of elevated pulse the hippocampus actually significantly increases in size thereby working more efficiently- hope that's true but "snail" here is SO out of shape and our treadmill is coveted in my one year gone- last Dec 28th, mom- her stuff- so I can't use it nor can I ride an exercise bike- bad hip from old ballet turnout- I asked m bone specialist, ages ago if I could ice skate and of course toboggan- she looked at me in horror- what a drag- I was in my 30's!!! Enough of my misery. No I won't be decorating- my cats - their record is 3 fake trees in one season- even glass fairy lights- plus I get so dejected about Christmas now- my husband's family- complicated, "wicked step mother garbage" I'm neither wicked nor a step mom type- I mind my own business- I dealt with my so-calked "new family" with opiates, yep , that's how I ended up in addiction and rehab- your girls have good self esteem I hope- and marriage isn't the best way for everyon- off to LEON REDBONE- HIS CHRISTMAS ALBUM AND DYLAN THOMAS A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES- TA RA. DOUBLE NAMASTE
Is it my connection or has he been cutting in and out a bunch in the end bit? Regardless, the story turned out so, so well and I loved it, and the as well. :)
But...but...but I don't get the ending! What happened to the maid? It wasn't him, it happened years later and he was no longer a teenager. Who killed her? Why was there a teen there?

I shall have to take another listen or so. As always thank you for sharing your amazing work with us all. God bless you and yours.
God bless you too :)
wene the snow is deep outside you look through the window and both sides of the window pane have a certain still ness its amazing we has adults wear sensible warm padded clothing and has children we wore shorts with our purple skins glowing . we wore clarks shoes and we had mittens sewn to our pull over sleeves the large weave of the mittens could never protect us from the cold you could imagine the young scrooge in his childhood school surrounded by stone cold desks and chairs looking through the class room windows looking for a black spot in the distance .which would gradually get larger and it would be the coach and horses bringing his sister and father
Christmas Carol is on here somewhere
Loved this one. But Tony! You're up in the attic sweating or freezing according to the season, to bring us these gems? Oh dear. I hope you can get some insulation up there. Any plans for it?
Yes, I should. Ideally, I'd love a dedicated room that was sound treated. One of these days.
Turner may have leased land in Norfolk in 1947, but it was not the site of Borley Rectory, which is in Essex.
+@carltaylor6452 as i recall the same family also owned the Essex land?
@@ClassicGhost quite possible.
A wonderful tale masterfully told. Strange stoccato click outs during your conversation at the end though-is this the gate thing you mention? I realise you live in Cumbria somewhere and I am so curious-for many years I lived in a village called Asby near Workington, and then in another village called Deanscales nr Cockermouth. I miss those years.
Yes that’s the gate. I know Asby and Deanscales :)
@@ClassicGhost Oh my Lord! That gives me such a strange feeling..... From your videos I am guessing you live somewhere near Maryport or Silloth. I always thought they had a spirit of place all their own. Thank you for replying Tony.
I love a Child's Christmas in Wales. Big fan of much of Dylan's work. Pity about his early death
Is it my connection or has he been cutting in and out a bunch in the end bit? Regardless, the story turned out so, so well and I loved it, and the as well. :)
It was my noise gate. It's fixed. I hope.
But...but...but I don't get the ending! What happened to the maid? It wasn't him, it happened years later and he was no longer a teenager. Who killed her? Why was there a teen there?

Ta Tasha
The audio is so choppy it is distracting.
Yes it was my noise gate.
Oh ok, a grown a$$ maid gets to kiss a kid on lips but if a guy did that he would get the Chainsaw huh?!!
