I had to watch this video for an assignment for my MBA and it literally brought tears to my eyes. This is how all advertisements should be, very beautifully executed and it really speaks to the heart. It's funny how we can see so many flaws in ourselves but many people in the outside world don't even recognize those things. What I found most interesting is the sketches where the strangers described the person actually ended up looking so much more like them which just further emphasizes each person's true, unique beauty even if they can't always see it themselves.
Great ad! I wish it was used and aired more. I only saw it because my Sociology class uses this for Cooley's Looking Glass Self theory and we have to write a paper about it. I'm glad to have seen it and had my 24 year old daughter watch it.
I'm A Man. How do you think I felt at the 5:00 Mark of the video when I saw that Woman with the Short Blonde Hair wipe the tears from her Right Eye? That poor Woman felt like she was beating herself up Mentally.
I recommend this video to everyone I speak with, male and female. This video is an amazing way to show us our own beauty! These drawings are just mind-blowing in the differences. I love-love-love this video! Can’t say enough great things about this video! It changed my life forever!!
i like this song that they use and i love the video they go together so well. Well, done dove the only commercial that makes me feel better and im sure other people as well!
On the other hand it makes you realize that even people who you would consider beautiful in a heartbeat still have their own insecurities and worries about how they look, and how even for them it seems like it's never good enough. How they see themselves as so much less than they actually are. I think that is the point of choosing people who are - to us - not really flawless. But to them, they are, unfortunately.
11 years later and I’m back crying my eyes out again and reminding myself that we are our own worst critics. Most people don’t even see the flaws we create in our minds.
waw that is so inspiring and good it tells the truth of how women or ladies view themselves and how they look at others they always have low self-esteem and that allows guys to destroy them most of the times because they do not look at themselves with a loving eye they always look in the mirror with others eyes and the bad ones. women or ladies should look at themselves with love if they love how they look people around will love it too not everyone but a few of them.
Let that be a lesson to all you Women watching this video. Don't sell yourself short because of any imperfection you may have on your faces that you feel is holding you back. Just remember, NOBODY'S PERFECT! There is a thing called "Inner Beauty", All of you Women have that, and it can an impact like you would not believe if you just give it a chance. Only those that can not look past your looks are ones who are The Ignorant. Just remember, beauty is only skin deep.
You people do know that Dove and Axe are made by the same company, right? The same people who made the Axe ads with conventionally beautiful models chasing young men down the street, made this. Dove makes a product to make money, not to make you feel good about yourself. Dove wants your money.
The message is to buy Dove products. It's a pretty clever way of sending that message. We've never met, so how about you don't make assumptions, or personal comments about me, and I won't do the same about you. Deal?
Uhh..I think the message is to your BEAUTY when in the ad did it say "Buy Dove it'll make ya feel pretty :D" NO. Don't say stuff If you don't understand. Deal? I assume you didn't even watch the whole video and just paused to and commented like an idiot.
Reinforcing sexism? No. Not sexism. They were defining "beautiful" to sell a product. Mating, is wired into the human brain. So is the desire to look healthy, attractive. Are women in 10inch heels and mini-skirts attractive? Not to me. But the high-heel industry would like you to think so. THUS, they make videos to sell product. Manipulative, YES. Sexist? No, not really.
did they ever consider the role of politeness is creating the other person's sketch? That a social norm too you know, but not one these broads would be excited to get rid of.
dove commercials are just so beautiful and inspirational
I know this is advertising and in the end they are selling something, but this is a straight up brilliant idea. So sensitive and beautiful
I cry every time i watch this.

Great video! Our true beauty shines from within. Too often we are over-critical of ourselves. I am greatful to have watched this video :)

Thank you, for taking the time to share with the world that story of human suffering and struggle that is all to common in this day and age....

oh the feels!
What if a person described themselves as beautiful and the other person described them as horrendously ugly. Awkward...
it means you have confidence

The Woman wiping a teardrop from Her Right Eye at the 5:00 Mark of This Video always gets to me, coming from A Man.
doesn't matter if you're man or women we all of us (human beings) have emotions and some are more emotional then others
Thank you for mentioning that.
like it
I love how there's no dislikes on this...
What song is used in this video?
Local Exchange Carrier - Chris Ayotte
how are there no comments on this video?
It's ironic that Dove is partly responsible for why people see so many flaws in themselves.
Wow...
I like the feather duster video. lol

I would like to see a foto compared with the drawings so the people can see the others discribe them more ralistic than they do.
The troll, "boxman876" was able to vote 3 times! lol!
Some people do miss the message. Because they only look to find fault in everything. That is one good clue that they are not happy themselves.
there's always a dislike. look!
There are only 3 certainties in this world: death, taxes; and dislikes.
that was a nice chin
What. You have a problem with male self-confidence?? :P

soo here is what you look like now and here is what you could look like with photoshop
But isn't that the point? I mean, if they are pretty and they don't think they are, that's the point of the self esteem thing.
But good thinking!! :)
