Good to see you getting some miles in. If you have the Airmar 3 in 1 sensor it will probably be growth on the sensor head or there will be some antifoul painted over it. The latter makes them do all sorts of funny things. Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
The sensor is a standard Raymarine. It was working fine, until it stopped 😄 The self-tests said the wiring and transducer were fine and that the likely fault was one of three components on the PCB
Your having a grand adventure. Made a 20m lead line that I shortened to ten so it doesn't tangle,,,much. One method I used just to see if it worked was to drop the lead line to the depth I wanted hung off a fishing rod with the idea that it would flex when the lead made ground which worked except when it found weed. I read that the tall ships of old would have a lead line off the bow to 120 fathoms hooked up to a bell if the were nearing land at night.
We have indeed made a lead line, but not 120 fathoms!!! Circumstances have meant that we have not needed to try it out yet, but it stands ready. Like you, we have made it to a preset depth to suit our anchor chain and scope requirements. The adventure continues...
Campbeltown Loch did you wish it was Whisky. On another topic, if you have a bung I would be tempted to whip the tri data out and see if its covered in crud.
We do have a bung, but it is for the speed logger. Also, the other issue is that the self-test routines indicate a circuit board fault. The transducer passed on the first test
I thought it was baby Loch Ness monsters swimming around out there and wow so many different flavors of whiskey when I get more practice sailing i will sail my little boat across the pond and check that place out and take you two darlings out for fish & chips
That is what we are doing. Fortunately, everywhere we are going on is fairly deep (20 or 30 metres) but it stops us exploring some of the more challenging places we wanted to go to.
Love Lochranza 🥃welcome back salty lass
Thank you. Loch Ranza is a bit blowy, but nice
Basking shark. Excellent
It was BIG
Great anchor drop
Thank you. We have been practisiing 😄

500 sounds like a challenge
It is. We ran out of steam after 2....

Definitely!!!! 😀
was that a basking shark?!?!
We think it was, but we did not get all that close
Absolutely definitely a Basking Shark . They used to hunt them from Carradale . Killbranan Sound is a hotspot for them .
The fin was very "floppy" unlike a marine mammal. We tried to get closer, but the sea-monster was not having it ...
Very Paul Young of you
Who?
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass singer from 80s. One of his songs lyrics "wherever I lay my hat that's my home"
I did not know who the singer was, but (obviously) I know the song
Must make a dedicated snubber hook this year now I know some splicing. Just ran a line through chain before
Get some nice stretchy nylon. It makes a great snubber.
Right! Off to prep for sea... southward bound... TTFN :-)
Use depth contours on chart

Great vid, if you like your whisky, check out Ralfy on TH-cam he’s the best. Enjoy one of the most beautiful areas in the Uk
Wine more than whisky for either of us, but they were nice to try. We do like sailing up here.
