' Ol Lance on bow, leashed in his safety harness, looks out across the rippling water, as land passes him by, and thinks to himself.' Another well presented video and i must say as a retired master wood worker, this vessel is absolutely beautiful, i stop and pause all through looking at the craftsmanship, cant wait for more..
New subscriber. Your boat is beautiful, would love to see a tour when you get a chance. My ancestors were Scottish but I'm from the states and in the process of finding another sailboat. Lost mine during hurricane berry. But your videos are awesome. Y'all are awesome. Safe sailing
So wonderful to see your videos coming out regularly again!!! I didn't realize how much I missed you two cheeky buggers til you came back! Thanks for letting us hang out with y'all again!!!
Just wanted to say how much I love the new boat. I couldn't think of a more appropriate crew than the two of you. Captain Matthew you were meant for this vessel. Cheers and fair winds from the USA.🍻⛵⚓
Great to see you Two guys & the New Crew Lance the Wonder Dog. WOW!!! Morna is something else it is great that you are looking after a piece of UK Maritime history but in a way that we your viewers get to see the ups and downs of a Wooden Vintage Boat. As for Matts Belly, I think a few Tacking sessions and sail adjustments without winches will bring Matt back into His Lean Mean Fighting Machine Physique you once knew him for or failing that it is back to the Gym . Joking a part Great to see another Veteran Living The Dream Mate and the both of you back on the Tube love watching your adventures
Hahah its definitely a work out on it's own getting the main up. Morna is definitely alot of work but worth every second. We really love owning a boat like her shes such a great piece of history too! :D
Lochranza, July 1984, flat calm, super sunset, we went ashore to pub, back to boat for a malt [whisky], bed. 1.00 am, the katabatic wind forced us out, we popped like a cork, lost dinghy oars, put on the safety gear. Arrived Tarbet, Loch Fyne 06.00, flat calm, perfect sunrise, Went to sleep for the rest of the day!. No moorings in those byegone days, but no holding in the anchorage due to kelp Ram in paper measurement. Reel is something like a reel o thread. Also Highland reel = dance.
7:34 Pardon this old Canuck but that's known as a brail to collapse the wind out of your sail. Reef points are parallel lines of short ropes for reefing down or shortening your sail by hauling down and reefing around the boom. Lovely ketch btw.
Gigha = "Geeya". Loch Riddon = errr,,,"Loch Riddon" ( rhymes with hidden ) Lovely pastoral little island to walk or cycle around. Somebody gave you duff gen ,it's a wee jewel. Mull of Kintyre - you were lucky . Can be a real nasty spot . Flat calm to six foot standing waves in 100 metres. Nice boat and dug .
Actually I think it's a big old fat arsed red flag that reeks of misandry, entitlement and disrespect. We all know what would happen if the genders were swapped. Melt down. I don't see the public emasculation and shaming of men to be comedy stock. Not like he is earning it. Seems to be a perfectly amiable and competent bloke and a loving partner.. And the hurt was written all over his face. Don't sell your soul for sex, mate. It's over rated. She needs to learn some respect for men. Noticed a couple of put downs in the one and a half episodes I have watched. I love the ketch but she can walk the plank if this doesn't improve.
Looks like your enjoying life. I live in San Diego, and trying to figure a plan to get over somewhere and work, sail, see the world. If you need anything from this side of the world do not hesitate...
Lovely to see you guys back on the water. Morna is looking a treat. I know she is a WIP, and you don't have a nav system yet, but I am wondering what you are planning for an autopilot? Cheers
I just found you guys - you're quite entertaining. Two thumbs up! :) And beautiful boat! Maybe (for us non-UK types) you could put some slightly more zoomed-out maps so we know where you are.
I enjoy it Matt and I wish I could understand what you two were saying, I was thinking that if our ships were sailing 3 knots we would still be in ww2...
Live in the USA but I would love to visit Scotland they have neautiful Isles. Paul Mccartney sings about t the Mull Of Kentyre such a beautfu l song makes you want to go tbere
Nice to see some/all of your canvas up,all in all,a nice sail.I can't help with the pronunciation of your destination, not my strong suite.😢 See you next time, all the best😊
talk over yourselves as much as you like i found you guys by chance and i can't stop giggling. I like to try to decide who's the sanest on the boat, so far the wire haired guys got it by a nose. Keep going the vids are great thanks.
Hey guys, nice to see you back and sailing again. A couple of observations, the first being advertising... When we watched this episode it started with a 5 minute advert. Now if you're monetizing your channel then, if I'm correct from what I have learnt, you only get money if people have watched the entire advert. Very few will do that and I am not one of them. It would be better to put a 10 sec advert in that you can't skip and that should hopefully increase your revenue. Secondly, we watch YT on our TV app so navigating to put a like in the box it a bit of a mission and takes 5X as long to accomplish. When you finish your episode quite abruptly we don't have the opportunity to like it so a 10 sec at the end will give us time to like the vid. Are you guys not charging your batteries from your engine or is the genny a backup charger? No real place to put static solar panels but what about flexi panels that you can lie out on deck and roll away? That's all for now but also have to say that Morna is looking stunning. It would be nice to have your Dad get some vid from his boat of Morna under sail or get the drone out!!! lol Fair winds ;)
Thanks for the feedback! Will definitely sort out for the next video :) the monetization was an accident as a false copy right claim added it in, weve now been able to sort ourselves so will change it now :) Weve actually been thinking about the flexi panels so that we can charge when needed and roll away so definitely something to look into :)
Hi! There is only two of us sailing her so it can be very hard to get the shots you mean. We don't have our drone anynorw so we can't show her lines when we are sailing unfortunately.
Retired sailor here, new to your stream and enjoying your vids. The four of you (you two and Morna and Lance) are a warm watch.
' Ol Lance on bow, leashed in his safety harness, looks out across
the rippling water, as land passes him by, and thinks to himself.'
Another well presented video and i must say as a retired master wood worker,

That's really great to hear :D shes a working progress but a joy to work and sail on!
Boat tour! Boat tour! Morna looks like a beauty, and I'm sure others besides me would love to see (and know) more about her. :-)
That's what I came for. Not too many gaff rigs on the Great Lakes where I sail.
I was just about to say the same.
Greetings to you from Ontario, Canada
Rick

Are you going to do a story about the missing year and new boat? Yes yes, of course you are! :-)
Haha! We will be doing a video soon to show you around the boat and show what weve been doing in the missing year :D just need some good weather haha
Looks like your enjoying life. I live in San Diego, and trying to figure a plan to get over somewhere and work, sail, see the world. If you need anything from this side of the world do not hesitate...

Hi David glad you enjoyed the video. Were not planning to have an autopilot, not really any that will work with Morna
Another great video !!
Next episode boat tour?
I think you would be the only TH-cams with a topsail. A true classic.
We are hoping to finish off filming the boat tour in the next few days :) the weather has been abit too rainy to do on deck but fingers crossed!
@@LivingWithTheTide A topsail jib... would that be a Yankee

Weather the same as conditions in Maine USA in the Rockland/Camden area , many sailing schooners there just like Scotland!
Love the wooden sailboat
Most beautiful boat ever.

What a beautiful old boat you have,I’m quite envious. Would it be possible to name the music in the description. Great video 👍
Hi Derek, I will have a look and post it. In future videos I will add it to the description:) they are all sourced through Epidemic sound
I enjoy it Matt and I wish I could understand what you two were saying, I was thinking that if our ships were sailing 3 knots we would still be in ww2...
Nice to see a real sail boat with ropes not man made lines, I know they burn your hands but the smell of them is real sailing, great 👍
They don't burn your hands, they toughen you up.

Why do you never show the boat so we can see it sailing or at least get a look at its "lines" (shape)? Thanks.
Hi! There is only two of us sailing her so it can be very hard to get the shots you mean. We don't have our drone anynorw so we can't show her lines when we are sailing unfortunately.
