After 4 and a half years of avoiding people COVID finally caught me this weekend. I'm happy to have these daily videos from my favorite carburetor channel to brighten my day during my convalescence.
One worthwhile investment for the totally-not-a-carb-channel would be an ultrasonic cleaner, they can make a dirty carb shine again, still needs taking apart to make sure all the schmoo is released, but the lack of noxious fumes from spraying stuff about is a real benefit to the lungs... :)
I just did a bank of carbs from my Honda Nighthawk CB700 last week and several of the jets were completely clogged including two of the choke jets. Two of the mains were the worst I've ever seen, but the goo just wiped off. All four carbs were taken apart and cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner, yet despite 30 min and using Simple Green, two of the choke jets were still completely clogged. I was using the smallest wire on a welding tip cleaner but that was just bending until I had the bright idea of holding about 1/2" of it with needle nose pliers and "pounding" it into the choke jet hole. That process broke through the two clogged holes after a minute of work, and because the wire was slightly smaller than the hole, it wasn't causing any damage to the hole. I blew everything out, put it all back together and the bike runs fantastically!
Probably the best carb cleaning explanation I have seen on here. So glad they started using fuel injection around this time. Not sure what year, but 1997ish it was becoming popular although crude.
I’m personally loving seeing the resurrection of the CBR. What a beautiful little bike. Always wanted one, but I think my time is past appropriate for one now. Thank you for your insight on cleaning carbs! I do a lot of small engine repairs and cleaning carbs is the biggest thing with those. I will use your methods in addition to my own to ensure cleanliness. As to the philosophical topic tonight, I don’t get jealous of dead people per se, but at the thought of being dead. It is what all of us have in common and we each have our own viewpoint of what happens at that point. I share some of Camera Girl’s views on reincarnation to an extent and appreciate her view on the topic. The afterlife is probably one of my favorite topics outside of mechanical things to discuss, mostly because everyone has a different viewpoint on the topic and it is interesting to hear others’ thoughts on the topic.
i cant say I know all about death, but I postulate it is a transition. Its a door to go thru. Think about the terabytes of information you have in your head. You hear, and read, and know, and recall information. That cant be for naught. There is a design, it follows that there is a designer. A feller needs to get that sorted.
I've found that there's so much corn based crud in carbs sometimes petrolatum based cleaners and solvents don't always break it down. I have had good luck with super hot water with some peroxide in it helps soften it up. Sometimes alternate back and forth with the regular cleaners. Like this guy says taking your time and not to heavy handed. A few years ago I got my old gsxr running after sitting for 19yrs and ended up not even needing the float bowl o-rings I had bought for it. Must have bought gas at the magic place because only the left side carb had like a gear oil like goop in it from being the lowest one. The only thing I struggled with was it kept carbon fouling a plug until I banged it on the limiter couple times. I thought it was replugging a pilot jet so I kept taking it apart and recleaning the carbs.
Great daily content. Ive learned so much from yalls channel. And i really appreciate all the knowledge, words of wisdom, and comedy relief. Keep up the great work.
Try boiling those intake manifolds in water before putting them on, works much better then a heat gun IMO. Old School way of making them soft again. Love the Videos , keep it up !
A little trick for cleaning pilot jets on my parts is, keep in mind (being cautious of the material they’re made of) a blow torch till they glow cherry and a bowl full of carb/break parts cleaner. Just a suggestion I’ve found has made my lie easier, in the past.
I know you said if you're an expert don't comment lol.... But I've got to give you a piece of advice. Now that you know how difficult it is to get those carburetors off and back on again the last thing you want to do is miss anything whatsoever when you're rebuilding them. The last thing you want is to have to pull them off again because something was missed. I'm a retired Master Honda Suzuki Kawasaki and Yamaha mechanic and shop owner I can't count the times I've had carburetors off of a 4-cylinder bike. And that CBR 600 I've done more times than any other bike because it was my track bike for many years. Go slow be thorough and don't think that something's good that you didn't touch with your own hands and verify that it's good. Always replace all fuel delivery o-rings and float bowl o-rings. Once you pull them apart like that and then put it back together they will leak 99% of the time.
Jake the next time you feel nervous about making a video just remember you can always just lean on your backup,… singing. If you don’t know where to start just ask camera girl to join in. Thanks for the daily videos. If feels like we’re just hanging out in the garage wrenching. 👍
Also, very excited to see if this thing starts up with nothing but a carb cleaning! Never worked on a bike with more than 2 cylinders/carbs and that was plenty for me.
Hi Jake Good Video, You Should Get Yourself A Ultrasonic Cleaner Also Apparently Brake Fluid Is Good For Softening Those Carb Boot Rubbers As Well , Leave Them Soak In Brake Fluid For A Day Or So Also A Bit Of Heat Always Helps
Good video. You could soak those manifolds overnight in regular ArmorAll and it will refresh them. Put them in a plastic bag and soak them thoroughly. Suppleness returns ! Loosen up with exercise before videoing.
Don't forget to check fuel pump function and pressure, (4 carbs feeding 4 -150's requires a lot of fuel) don't bother to even look, just get new fuel filter(s)
I been fixing 2 stroke vespa for 15 years. My dad has suzuki katana gs650g shaft drive he bought new 82. 1 carb easy to setup. Setting 4. You need special dials. Once 1 carb slightly out you loose 75% power. The guy here in South africa durban wants R25k cash just to start. Dad got little heart attack 😂. With my experience I gave it my best and even with fuel in pot it would not fire up. Anyway. Buy p150x p200e or even any other px model to fix. You will complete channel 😂😂😂.
Do I envy dead folk? Depends on the quality of the coffin their loved ones could afford. My queen bed is pretty comfy but gets to my back after about ten hours. If you can find somewhere I can sleep comfortably forever I'll take you up on it! Hopefully that humor isn't too dark.
In love ,you will know what it's like to be dead You will not be reincarnated, but you will live eternally in one of two places. Life is short but eternity is for eternity. Please seek the Lord. I really enjoy your channel.
7:31 Just like Radiowaves. 19:34 not 600s, but I do on i4 250s and when they run to 20k rpm it can only be a small bit of muck to make them not run right, but I like E10, and If you also change the cheap fuel hoses that are not ethanol safe to ones that are you will have a better day.
Find out what matters to your Creator and align yourself with what matters to Him. If you judge yourself accurately before you die, He won't have to judge you harshly after you die. Nobody wants that.
Before you die, you might want to become friends with the Lord. I would encourage you 2 to find a Bible Church you like near where you live and do some studying!
Ecclesiastes 4 : 2 - 3 2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. 3 Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
I have learned more about carburetors on this non carburetor channel than I ever did on the carb channels.

Be sure to get as much rest as you can, it really kicks your ass.
You seriously gave up 4.5 years of your life running away from that, just to get it anyway?
@@Nevir202yeah here's the thing never mind the political bs.

I envy the dead because they aren't suffering heartbreak like I am. This channel keeps me going. Love you guys
yeah sometimes I do too. Life is tough right now.
Don’t get nervous, it is entertaining, but so is watching you relaxed. We just want to enjoy some time with you and camera lady.
This is the essence of the channel :) Laid back, relaxed...

Jennifer should share more of her philosophical views. Between Jake and her, this may just morph from a carburetor channel to a life coach channel. 😄
Jake the next time you feel nervous about making a video just remember you can always just lean on your backup,… singing.
If you don’t know where to start just ask camera girl to join in.
Thanks for the daily videos.
If feels like we’re just hanging out in the garage wrenching. 👍

You can use silicone grease on the rubber bits (harmless to rubber) to make them slide on easier.
Keep your thoughts to yourselves!!!! Love it
Finally, a carburetor video!
Hi Jake
Good Video, You Should Get Yourself A Ultrasonic Cleaner
Also Apparently Brake Fluid Is Good For Softening Those Carb Boot Rubbers As Well , Leave Them Soak In Brake Fluid For A Day Or So
Also A Bit Of Heat Always Helps
This carburator channel is realy nice
Carb cleaner also makes rubber swell especially diaphrams but washing in soapy water makes them go back to normal size, the dead have it easy.
Torch tip cleaner works excellent
If your in a pinch strip the coating off a bread twist tie
I got 99 pilots but a clog aint one, if you havin carb problems i feel bad for you son

Carb City....😮❤
Get a set of welding torch tip cleaners. Works even better than wire strands.

Can't wait until tomorrow 🤪
You will need to sync those carbs to make it run sweet
I know you said you sold your rental properties but I don’t recall why. What made y’all get out? Should I avoid it?
Yes! Another video!
Use acetone to clean the varnish off the jets
Jennies Carb garage....with Jake lol. Love it guys. Cheers from Atlanta Ga.
Don't forget to synchronize them on the bike with it running!!!
Bread tie works the best
I keep a set of guitar strings to clean carb jets
Did you check to see if all the floats were ok sealed
Chicken videos, just saying
Only use a wire brush, bristle, never use a torch tip cleaner.
Thank you!!!
How are you not singing a bit of Joan Jet?
What is that wire coming out of your hat?
Bit jelly of Weekend at Bernies....pretty limber for a stiff..mind you he was a bit of a grabby devil too
Camera has a hard time focusing with black gloves on
