I am trying to figure out the best way to create a pre test that learners can take to 'test out' of a course. Pass means they can exit early and get marked complete in the LMS. Fail means they have to take the course and pass the assessment at the end in order to get marked complete. Would Question Slides be used for both the pre test to test out and the assessment at the end of the full course?

+Shawn Hampton I agree with the idea that if someone can demonstrate proficiency they should be able to “test out.” Unfortunately Captivate doesn’t provide for this by design. There are workarounds for this. If you have trouble with this, you can purchase some one-on-one time with me, and I can review it with you. bit.ly/Cp1on1

Thank you, Paul! It's interesting to see because this is how I *_always_* use Captivate in my LMS, which is Canvas. For my purposes, a Captivate project is not a "course," but rather just one lesson, within one module, of a larger course which has many other lessons, within various other modules, that are created mostly with Canvas's own tools. I create captivate projects in order to have more interactive lessons in ways which Canvas can't do. There are some third-party products which do this, but the institution has to pay for them to integrate into Canvas (and report to the Canvas gradebook), and they--of course--don't allow one the granularity of design and customization that Captivate does--which is why I use Captivate.

I get so many questions about managing these massive courses with hundreds of slide and hours of content. Not sure why anyone would want that. I completely agree with your approach.

Hi Paul, would this be an option since I don't have the premium account.
Could I do knowledge checks at the end of each module without calculating score and then at the end of all modules have a quiz encompassing all/similar questions as the knowledge check.
This is my first course ever, my workplace told me to have a go. I got stuck with the quiz because I wanted multiple quizzes after each module with separate results.

The long and short of it is that Adobe Captivate or any authoring tool cannot publish and report multiple quizzes within one elearning course. The solution is to create multiple "modules" and then use your LMS to package them together as a course. Each module can have its own quiz, and the scores from those quizzes would feed up and contribute to your overall score in your "course" shell. Structurally, it might look something like this...
      ─Course in LMS─────┐
      Module 1 80%
      Module 2 90%
      Module 3 90%
      ──Total Score 86.6%──┘

Hey Paul, Thanks for this its great. What if I wanted to ensure the learner has achieved at least a minimum score in the quiz e.g. 15/20 before they can move on?

If you want to enforce that a learner must get a passing grade in order to proceed, navigate to Preferences / Quizzing / General and set the mandate to *Pass Required - The user must pass this quiz to continue.*

Hello Paul, I own a Lasercube 2.5w from Wicked Lasers, a laser projector, and it imports SVG and ILD files; as well as SCG animations. Can you post a small video about creating local business logo's in both formats, you can get the software for free of the lasercube, and if you tag it you'll have some good fans drop by your very informative page about Adobe Illustrator. Thank you for the consideration.

Thanks for watching my video. It sounds like this might be a little outside my wheelhouse as I'm not even an Adobe Illustrator expert. I created this tutorial primarily for Adobe Captivate users who need images and logos in SVG format. Good luck with the lasercube stuff though.
