    Love the Gerald Subaru vinyl sticker maybe it could be a little bit bigger kind a hard to see. How much money do they give you for allowing them to put a sticker on your brand new $45,000 car for advertisement. Really expect this comment to be blocked because you can’t handle the truth.

    This is a midsize, not fullsize. Tahoe has a lot more space and capability, which yes you do pay for. This is on the smaller side of midsize as well. Traverse, Pilot, Atlas, and Telluride all have significantly more passenger and cargo space. But the Ascent is priced accordingly, so that's fine.

    I just test drove this model. I agree with everything in this review for the most part. I was hoping for a little more cargo room with all rows up. Being used to driving a Dodge Ram 1500, this felt a little delicate. However, power was adequate. I didn’t mind the transmission one bit. Ride was very smooth and quiet. For what it is (not a sports car or $60K+ SUV) it felt agile and ready to get on the throttle if needed. Very comfortable seats in all rows. 3rd row being reserved for the kids of course. Very easy to drive. It drove like a car much smaller than it is even though it’s long and has almost 9” of ground clearance. The moon roof is a nice touch, a must have. Didn’t have a chance to get in to all the cabin tech, but it seemed well thought out. My iPhone 12 Pro Max started charging wirelessly when I placed it in the little cubby in the center dash. I think this is a sensible ride that would be comfortable on a long road trip as well as conquering a winter weekend in Tahoe with a set of snow tires.

    Great video btw! A few more items of interest: Your front windows and windshield are acoustic glass. The moonroof blocks 95% of the UV rays. In X-Mode the upper display keeps itself in vehicle telemetry mode so you can see your pitch, etc.

    2:07 Regarding gas mileage, I think the difference between the Base/Standard and Premium models versus the Limited and Touring models is the tire size. The Base and Premium come with 18" tires from the factory while the Limited and Premium come with 20" tires. Therein lies the reason for the lower gas mileage for the upper trims. If you were to " upgrade" your tires on the lower trim models to 20 inches, you would get the same lower gas mileage. Conversely, if you put the smaller 18" tires on the Limited and Touring your mileage would increase.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 18" wheels ride nicer, are more efficient, less prone to damage from potholes, and tires are cheaper. I wish they all came with 18" wheels.

    Just bought this vehicle last night, metallic grey, we bought it because last year we got the Forester and we loved it. Since we loved the Forster, we had no need to test drive this one. Hubby was not happy with our caravan GT and we needed a big vehicle. Loved all the perks of our forester. It did not disappoint us. However, watching this video has just made me feel so much more proud of the purchase 🥰🥰
    P.S. his dream car is a GMC Sierra Denali. The biggest 4 door one. Let me just say he is not upset about this Ascent 😭 lmao 😂

      That's good to know! The wife and I have both a Forester and a Crosstrek Hybrid, but now need something to fit 5 or more. We'll be buying the Ascent largely untested and trading in the Forester, and I'm doing research to make sure this is the right move.

    • @MielEcitaaa
      @MielEcitaaa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottpriddy1417 go for it, the only down side is that the forester has more space for storage in the back. The ascent is reduced by A LOT. It was not fun driving to Mexico in it. We had to bring down all the last row. Thank God it was just the hubby, I and the daughter. Love the car all around but miss my town and country when we travel.

    Well Shooting cars, it took a few years to come out but CVT has shown its true colors. New Figures from C.C. : Subaru Ascent least reliable SUV for 2021. First reason reason given: Transmission. Ascent scored a 19 points on the dependability scale.

    • @marcisikoff
      @marcisikoff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If that's Consumer Reports it's not including 2021. They only use their subscribers feedback and if they don't get enough of those they find some other "comparable" to use. Terrible. What % of Ascent owners is a CR paid member?

    • @lucastherexcat
      @lucastherexcat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcisikoff They also use DOT numbers. If you choose to doubt that is your choice. These Subarus have CVT transmissions, these transmissions are simply not as reliable. They cost more to fix when they break down. The flaw is in the design. Now if you do not like these numbers then view "Autoguide" and "Your Mechanic" numbers on most expensive car to maintain over a 10 year period issued last year. They have videos here on Ytube.

    • @marcisikoff
      @marcisikoff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lucastherexcat CR surveys their readers and is pretty open about the process. Again, not much overlap in CR paid subs and Ascent owners. www.consumerreports.org/cars/subaru/ascent/2021/overview/ shows the current CR and while I am not and will never be a member, what I can read there doesn't look all that damning.

    • @tlevans62
      @tlevans62 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having spoken with a few mechanics who work on Subarus, the issue with the CVT is that Subaru of America suggests that the CVT is sealed for life, while Subaru outside the US suggests that the oil be changed at every 60,000 kilometres. In Canada, where these cars also sell, there have been very few failures in the CVT for any Subaru models using the CVT, so if you want the car to last a long time, service the CVT at 35k miles and it will be fine.
