  • Paul packs a whole lot into the two letters to the Corinthians. He addresses specific topics requested by the congregation, as well as general issues of church leadership, tension, and, above all, hope. Corinthians wrestles with the timeless questions we face about how to make wise decisions in the face of both freedom and disagreement.

Very timely lesson. It seems NT Wright often illuminates something I’m currently working through; in this case the fine commentary on 1Corinthians by Dr. Gordon Fee, who 3 months ago I’d never heard of. These two prodigious minds are part of my seminary! God bless these ‘mighty men of David’!

It's great to hear the lessons have corresponded with your current studies.
'God's Empowering Presence' is another great resource if you haven't already read it.

The church was sliding like most of the western churches of our day. Paul in a loving skillful way sent correction and prayed they would be convicted and repent, otherwise, people whom he loved would wax worse and God forbid, be lost. In the second letter he joyed in hearing they repented and pressed on to say in a sense, you've done well so now deal with these things also.
    No repentance, no hope. Maranatha.
