      Oryginalny silnik forda na wtrysku pośrednim jest niewiele warty. Dlatego postanowiłem sprawdzić czy można go ulepszyć, i dlatego zbudowałem tą hybrydę.

    Im glad i found you! im attempting to do this myself in my MK6 Escort van. So does TDDI Pistons and rods swap stright over to the older Endura/lynx engine, including the head with out any problems?
    ATM im building my own bosch VE for it using a fiesta courier bosch pump for the body, using the camplate out of the TDDI VP37 and modded the drive pin so it will fit an 11mm plunger from a Rover O series diesel pump, and then an LDA from another rover 825 VM diesel. ill have way too much fuel for my needs 3.2mm lift on a 11mm head should be good. Whats the difference between the TDDI injectors and the 210bar L series injectors? were they a direct fit?
    how did you time the pump? did you just use what the pump came setup at already, or did you use a dti and set the lift at TDC?

      Escort, great machine, I still remember with fondness :)
      Yes, pistons and head fit without any problems.
      I personally assembled several hybrids consisting of 1.8D(TD) engine block, shaft from 1.8D(TD).
      Pistons, connecting rods and head were from 1.8TDDI/TDCI.
      One important thing: you must use metal head gasket from 1.8TDDI/TDCI, the one from
      1.8TD is too weak for this setup.
      I did not build my own pump, I modified pump from Citroen Boxer 2.5TDI. This pump has a 11mm piston, and a boostpin.
      Pump numbers:
      0460414140
      0460414156
      I modified the governor to increase the rpm range, and modified the timing pin at the bottom of the pump to let him move in a wider range.
      The pump fits perfectly on the original 1.8TD mount.
      I set it up according to the timing lockers, and then modified the setting after some test drives.
      Modifying the pump setting on the pump timing belt/wheel is usually +/- 1mm
      I am not familiar with the injectors you are writing about (or maybe I misunderstood you). I used injectors from Rover 25, only because they have compatible nozzles with typical "tuning" ones from VW. You can easily fit .216, .230 or even .260mm nozzles to them
      One important point: if you are going to use Citroen pump, you will have to order your own metal injection pipes. The original
      from 1.8TD will not fit (bad nuts). Those from 1.8TDDI will fit, but for them you will
      have to properly set the injection phase on the injection pump wheel.

      @@jaszczurtd The Rover 25 uses the L series diesel engine, and they use 210bar break pressure injectors. The earlier L series from 200 /400 rovers use 200bar injectors. they are more sort after here in the UK as they flow much more fuel than the 25 /45 versions. What i was wondering was if the 25 injectors flowed more fuel than the standard DI ford ones and if they needed modding to fit the Ford head also, if you've changed the nozzles then they would flow more regardless. The pump I'm building up is like a mechanical version of the VP44 that came with the TDDI so the camplate is perfect for the DI engine, but as the timing is ECU timed dynamically its hard to know what to set the plunger lift at when timing the engine statically, I have successfully built a mechanical timed pump for a Rover 400 so it now runs without an ECU controlling the engine. but i had data from its ancestor that i could set it to and work from there. i guess i could try the same thing with this engine too

      @@austinmaxi I was using a few turbos and manifolds. The setup from movie was using the Ford Mondeo MK1 turbo and manifold ("T2" on the turbo's plate). For now, I'm starting to play with modified (hybrid) Ford Focus MK1 VNT turbo, and my own custom controller.

    Hello again :) I'm progressing on my build of this hybrid..but im stuck on what tightness to torque the head bolts to. I can't use the TDDI bolts as they're too long for the escort block, so if have to use the short bolts all round. The tddi short bolts have a different final torque to the long bolts, so I was wandering if I should torque all the bolts to the same spec as the short TDDI bolts?

      Silnik jest zbudowany od zera, głowica, tłoki i korbowody od focusa 1.8tddi. Odpala do -15 bez grzania świec po jednym przekręceniu wału. Na filmie masz późną zimę, silnik jest zimny, świece jak widać grzane nie były.

      @bloody A2H you need to rebuild the engine. Original design is for indirect injection, this pump requires direct injection.

      ​@@bloodya2h773 I'm almost certain that you don't have the same engine. ;) My looks like regular 1.8TD, but is not ;) This one is with direct injection, and this pump is also for direct injection. Anyway - you can try with some 1.9TD pump, but it has to be from indirect injection 1.9TD. Also, you may have some problems with the pump's belt pulley and mounting. So I recommend some pump from 1.8D (without turbo), with the number 0460494xxx (three last digits are not so important). The most important part of the number is 0460494, where "9" states for the pump piston diameter. After adjusting the dose of fuel, this pump will be completely sufficient for turbo, and you will easily reach even 100-110 hp.

      You want all necessary engine specs? In short, this is a hybrid, half mondeo mk2 1.8 TD, half Focus TDCI 1.8TDCI with injection pump from peugeot boxer 2.5TD, injectors from Rover 25 and nozzless of .0230 diameter.

      ​@@no-damn-alias Yeah, maybe a little complicated. ;) To answer the question if it was on purpose - well, yes. It all started with a dead 1.8TD engine in an Escort. I just wanted to swap 1.8TDDI to the Escort, just exchanging the injection pump to the mechanical one. But then it turned out that the design of 1.8TDDI creates a lot of problems: first and foremost is the injection pump originally used, which has a different bolt spacing, and non-standard centering mount size. So exchaning the pump was a no-go. The second problem is, that access to the pump is difficult, due to the fact that it is driven by a chain running in the oil cartridge. This makes me to start disassembling the TDDI, and i was almost getting ready to scrap the Escort. But while disassembling I noticed that there are many differences, but also similarities between 1.8TD and 1.8TDDI. So I decided to put together an engine which will combine advantages of both constructions. For example: cool timing belt(s) design, easy access to the injection pump, direct fuel injection, stronger connecting rods, separate oil pump. And so MTDDI was created. Currently I pulled 170hp from that design, and preparing for 200hp. To answer the question what pump is in 1.8TDDI - it is vp30. Hope this helps. :)

I just want a direct injection engine with a mechanical pump but I don't want a 1.9Mtdi VW as this is what everybody does who wants a Mtdi. Still I want to engine to be readily available on the market and enough of them so there are people which Know a lot about it.
      This seems a bit too much work for me to simply have a MTDi. Have a lot of fun with your engine
