I can always count on Tamsyn Muir and her hilariously unhinged lesbians 💜

shout out to that one person in the comments who asks for a brief plot summary 😂 it's something i wanted out of these videos bc i don't read along with yall, i just like listening to critique and craft talk, but i do want to know the basic premise and important plot beats and stuff. i noticed you started doing this without me asking and i am very pleased at this turn of events 💖 but do know that i really am here for ur thoughts and not to listen to a regurgitated synopsis, not that you would ever do that lol

i totally relate to yall getting sidetracked and i imagine it's difficult to summarize character arcs and such when youre three individuals who have known each other for a long time and now cater to an audience having their first discussion about a text! youre doing a great job.

i think of will as the ego, maria as the superego, and katie is the id. i am also an id.

I have yet to listen to what you guys thought on the ending, but my interpretation is that the ending is both a twist and a sort of retelling of the classic fairytale. Because Floralinda never got rescued, she is technically still a princess stuck in the tower, but this time because of her own volition rather than because she's "trapped". Not sure if that improves it for you guys, but it did a bit for me. I loved Cobweb's character and also really enjoyed the book and have officiated myself as Tamsyn Muir stan 😂

I just happened to read this book last week, so this was great timing! I'm surprised Maria didn't like it as much as I thought she would, but I totally understood her point about the closeness of the POV in fairytale stories. It was also nice to hear some discussion on the themes since the ending doesn't make one specific message jump out at you. Great podcast episode, as always.

I can't help but think how much more interesting I'd find this ending if this was Florinda's villain origin story. As always, great video guys. Your conversations are always a highlight..

This sounds like an interesting book for the simple fact that each of you saw a different nuance in it. It makes me think that the way someone would read and understand it would vary widely due to their age and experience but somehow they'd all be able to find some meaning in it.

Ah you guys' video for "Nona the Ninth" was how I found this channel and it feels good to return to Tamsyn Muir with y'all! ^_^ Unfortunately, I clicked on the video before realizing what book we're talking about today and I haven't read this one yet so you guys will have to suffer the indignity of being muted (I am physically incapable of clicking out of a video before it ends the incomplete red bar drives me up the wall ... I really need to seek diagnosis 🙃) while you wax poetic about unhinged lesbians and literature. See you all in the next one!

I didn't read this book, not really my thing anymore. But I'm curious how Maria feels about Gail Carson Levine's fairytale retellings other than the standalones like Ella Enchanted. I suppose they're just short fairytales too but Gail Carson Levine has always been my queen so 🤔

Are you guys gonna do the Lightlark sequel? You didn't hate it as much as others did.

Will, the most annoying character is clearly neelix! And thats not the actor, i think he plays tuvix and neelix didnt need to drag kes down and be annoying, but he was. And wesley became a pretty good character soon. Neelix, why!

This doesn't sound like the kind of book I'd read my children, if I ever have any.
