Fake white text on a resume has been a trick to fool HR software for a long time. Most software picks it up and spits it out as plaintext though, so the HR person just sees a bunch of BS on the resume and it looks bad.

The ole' "hidden white text in a resume" isn't super new either. I, myself, gave it a shot with buzzwords and key phrases a decade or so back. AI like ChatGPT might be fairly new, but back then they still usually put resumes through filters looking for keywords and phrases.
In my case, it worked, but occasionally backfired a little when the scanning bot converted the word doc to a text file and the keywords popped out and made it an unreadable mess. One Recruiter reached out to me and asked for a readable copy of my resume. I gave it but mysteriously still never heard back from them. In that respect, I maybe went a little overboard haha

The answer was yes (as seen in this video).
From a real-life perspective if companies start using AI tools in the future to review resumes, they could be vulnerable to similar (but more sophisticated) attacks. Hope that clarifies 😁

Yes, it's quite common nowadays for recruiters to use a some sort of program to filter through applications, especially in cases with hundreds of applicants for a position. Since AI is easily influenced by bias, this practice has called in quite a few ethical complaints, especially in terms of racial or ethnic bias. Recruiters would argue that it may not be a perfect method (as they risk losing out on a better applicant for the job), but that it is a response to the increasing similarity between applications, also due to usage of programs like ChatGPT to help perfect your CV.
It's tricky, but I'm guessing it's just going to get more common.
