I find their cover of No Scrubs hilarious. The fact that they kept the original lyrics to the song was hilarious to me.
I think this sounds like Tears for Fears. Just because Rivers Cuomo is singing doesn't make it sound like Weezer. This is a faithful recreation of the song and it was done really well but it wasn't "Weezer-ified" other than the fact that the band is playing the song.

I remember reading in some interview with Rivers that he always wanted his vocals to be understandable. I think that stands really true in all the covers weezer has done, and I appreciate that.

its such a melancholy song; uplifting and depressing at the same time. its duality is presented as a singularity. one of the best songs that captures the emo-meta of the 80s. young and wise at the same time. can't stop thinking about this song.
Yeah. I only just recently read up on the meaning of the lyrics to this song. Both beautiful and depressing all at once. Kinda glad that I was only a baby when the Cold War came to a peaceful end.

They do seem to be the sole (with the POSSIBLE EXCEPTION of Foo Fighters and mayaybe...Train) survivors of the 90's Alt era that still put music on the charts.

@@Gaming_Network YES..you got me there. They barely make it but (last year of the decade)..but make it nonetheless. "California" in 2016 wasoretty good..a d the largest gap between hits since 2012. They actually knocked Drake off the number one Billboards Album spot in 2016 after he spent a record 16 weeks there! The first time a Rock act has done that since 2008! Not sure if Green Day should be included because they sermed to have slowed way down since "American Idiot" back in what..2005 or '06? Coldplay almost make it had they released their debut - "PARACHUTES" a year earlier in 1999.

I think these Weezer covers are perfect balance of being a great cover themselves and showing the genius of the original.

This is their best cover on the Teal Album. Perfect groove, vocal range, and some nice tweaks to make the song their own while staying true to the original feel.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears is one of my absolute favourite songs of the 80s. I’ve heard other covers of the song, but none of them does a cover of this song justice like Weezer does.
Greatest pop song of the 80s and two great solos by two different guitarists. The great rhythmic one in the middle, and that angular, muscular one at the end.
Man I remember seeing TFF in concert the first time in 1986 like it was yesterday. The whole crowd singing along at the top of their lungs. Not a care in the world and just wanting some tasty bud and some good tunes.

Damn, every cover is just perfect. They capture the essence of the original perfectly and yet make it their own as well. They have a great talent for knowing which parts should be like the original and what part needs "Weezering". Lol

I love this album so much! They covered those classic hit songs without losing their original goodies, yet added their own essence into them. Unlike some people who think old songs should be rearranged to something new or fancy and then totally ruin the songs.
So Weezer is now a 70s-80s cover band...and it's awesome...

I was only alive for the second half of the 80s but my parents kept me balanced in a cocoon of 80s music until I was in my teens....this album takes me back to all those good memorys....my father moved to south America and my mom turned country.....so thank you for this!!!!!!

Tears for Feara is one of those bands I just got into. Weezer is one that I've been into for a while now. Seeing these two artists is brilliant.

Child of the 90's. All of these remind me of my babysitter's place in the late 80's and Mom's-minivan-oldies radio. Kinda get the feels. So cool.
High quality cover, even Tears for Fears should be proud. The original was out in like '82, I dont know when this version was released but what an amazing job by Weezer that was really good you guys

@@charlenedupuis4802 The Original is the soundtrack to my childhood, its my ringtone and my all time favourite song ever. This is an ok imitation version, but not a patch on the original, it's just not got the passion the original has.

i kinda love that these covers are so faithful to the originals. it comes through as a rather different approach, paradoxically. especially the singing and the backing vocals, they are all very similiar to the originals.

I always thought that this was a good song, but I was never into it... even back when it was big.
I guess I just needed Weezer to do it. This is fantastic.
I'm glad that Weezer is bringing some great 80's hits back to life, this, as well as "Africa."... the 80's had some great music that the younger generation probably don't hear too much. But they can go too far. ("Africa" with Weird Al was awesome). But I hope they don't become a cover band. They have enough talent on their own. If you disagree, hold this thread while I walk away.

I didn't think I could still get goosebumps by music but this song did it. Great job!
Hearing this almost makes me want to cry. I got to hear this along with many other songs at a festival in February 2020… right as the pandemic started. It was like we all knew something was about to change our lives forever. Our last hurrah, if you will. Hearing these songs takes me back to simpler times.

I feel like these songs were the lullabies of my youth. I was a 90s teen but a small child of the 80s. My older sis was a full blown 80s teen. Grew up w Tears for Fears, REM, U2, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran etc. Billy Jean by MJ was the first video I saw on MTV. I was maybe 4 or 5

I like the original version of Tears for fears. It's so strong song, it touched my heart deeply. The Weezer's cover is cool too.
