Congrads! When I served in the early 1990's tech sgt. was one of the hardest ranks to pass on the first, second, and third attempt. We were told if you can obtain tech.sgt. in 10 years or less then you have a chance at chief in 20 years. You have a college degree and I know the Air Force is always looking for good enlisted to become an officer. I did 3 years enlisted and then went ROTC Air Force. The Air Force was good to me, but God had other plans for me. I recommend the best book to read and that is the KJV Bible. Good luck!
I joined the military at 32 as an E2, and now I'm 35 just made E5. Honestly, I was just at the right place, at the right time doing the right thing, and I had accelerated pretty fast considering some dudes been in forever. Prepare for a few of your battle buddies to turn enemies, even some of your previous NCOs that took forever to climb ranks will try and down play you, but be cool, try hard, learn quick and be competent. Surround yourself around good leaders you wish to emulate, pick their brains, take notes, learn and exercise. You'll be unstoppable.
I've just met you on here Brittany, but am retired AF, so way to go! So proud of you and yes, being 25 -29 when you join is such a big advantage I feel.
Congratulations and thank you for sharing THIS. I'm 29 and enlisting in the Army as a Specialist, E-4. Thank you for such mature and inspiring words. I needed them.
Congrats Brittany, my grand-daughter just made E4 BTZ and is well on her way to her next. She is currently in Korea and also in Intel. I hope you get the change to meet her some day.
Congratz! My daughter just got Senior Airman BTZ, she looking forward to getting ready for her next promotion. Hopefully this will help her get into IPAP when she's ready. She joined at 22 so she could get most of her college done first prepping to be a PA.
OMG Congrats I will always support your channel. I am a OG follower, every time I leave a comment I will always thank you because watching your videos helped me join the Air Force at an older age and I love it!!!! please keep up the good work. HOW ABOUT SOME OF THAT SQUADRON PRIDE
I enlisted at 30 and just made BTZ, I put on in September; testing for Staff next year. 💪🏾 I want to catch up as well. I am 32 E3 so I definitely understand the personal goal of catching up
Hi Brittany. I was almost 25 when I joined I didn't make BTZ because I got a LOR but I worked hard to get a 4 on my EPR I got a 62 and a 54 on my tests but I made it by 4 points in the same cycle as you. I work hard for my troops and I would do anything for them all 4 of my troops have told me I'm the best supervisor they ever had and I am grateful that they think that way of me. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I work hard and I care for my people. Congrats on making staff and nay you be the best that has ever done it.
Good job making Staff Sgt! Your new family, of course, is always going to influence the path(s) you choose going forward, but you've built a strong foundation upon which to develop your career in the USAF; all the best to the three of you, and keep aiming high!
Congratulations Staff Sergeant! 3 out of 5? Thats crazy! What’s your supervisor basing their evaluations on? Glad you overcame that rating! A lot of folks don’t realize that Staff Sergeants in the Air Force are the backbone of the service. Take care of your troops!
@@traci506 Things must have changed drastically then. A 3 EPR was because you got in trouble back when I was in. A 3 used to be a career killer for us or the supervisor was being lazy. We always went out of our way to make sure our troops had valuable bullets to put on their EPR’s to justify a 4 or 5 rating but this is the new Air Force now.
Testing for Staff Sgt, making Staff sgt.... Testing for Staff sgt, is a few things, AF specific knowledge plus.. your specific job knowledge... and any leadership or supervisor classes you have taken... All those added together comes up with a number. MORE IMPORTANT than your total score... is... the number of open slots for Staff Sgt in your specific job skill. Example. Security Forces. The worst job in the Air Force, has a HUGE TURN OVER RATE... the highest suicide rate too. Chances are, you will make Staff Sgt under 4 years pretty easily, regardless of how poorly you do. If you have a cushy job, on the nicest base in the World... you probably wont make Staff Sgt.. reason... those above you aren't leaving or moving up, to open that Staff position for you. I never tested for Staff Sgt, I wasn't staying in past 4 years, I didnt care. I waived the test. The problem with becoming Staff Sgt is, you are transitioning to becoming a SUPERVISOR... basically, you are a people manager, so forget your old job, now you're a 'baby-sitter' for the E1, E2 E3's that come in the door after you. Making Tech Sgt... you manage the Staff Sgts. and so on. You become less and less 'hands on' and more of a dick... BETTER IDEA.... get the FREE TRAINING and FREE SCHOOL MONEY and GET OUT... Go to college like I did, became a Mechanical Engineer, now I work where I want and for whoever I want.
Hi! English is my second language. what resource do you recommend to study, to pass the test? Am like you I joined too late. I have the McMillan but also the promoted app. Did you think that both are the same? Because now that I have two they're different in the way that they ask the question.
Get a AA degree and you can get staff Sargent in one year. Then complete your 4 years and try to do rotc and become an officer with a free college ride. I'm trying to do that atm.
Congrats 21E5!!!!

Its not really crazy. Most people get 3s on their EPRs. You really have to go above and beyond to get 4 or 5.

Nowadays only 5% get a 5 and 10% get a 4. Everyone else gets 3s unless they really screw up.
@@davidrosenberg9615 Definitely a new Air Force standard. Continue on the legacy Troops!
Congratulations! That is awesome nice going!
Congrats Brittany! Wonderful news! 🇺🇸✈️
