Verse in question: “You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord” (Leviticus‬ ‭19:28). Notice the ban is on cutting yourself for the dead, not tattooing yourself for the dead.‬

What about the passage, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” -1 Corinthians 6:19-20?
Is this more spiritual than a physical moral? I wonder to what extent (if any) body modifications can defile the temple that is our bodies, or if it is completely moral ethics which determine such.

We as Christians must be very careful what we teach, because we'll be held accountable for everything that we tell others. I would hesitate before answering certain questions and really seek the Holy Spirit before telling people certain things on a potentially sinful subject. Not saying that IP is wrong here, but the only reason Christians want tattoos so bad is that it's very popular in the world. God wants us to be set apart from the world - that's in both the old and the new covenants. I'd be cautious to put these on my body. My temple belongs to God. Yes, I know people won't like this answer, but there's nothing wrong with saying we must be careful and obey what the Holy Spirit says FIRST.

I can agree, there is a reason why in some places it's illegal to get a tattoo under a certain age, because if you're going to get a possible permanent mark on your skin you better be sure it's something you can live with. That's why I don't understand why some couples get tattoos of each other's names because what are you gonna do with that if you don't stay together 🤷‍♂️.

I got a tattoo after kicking my drug habit. It was to remind me of the evil that comes out of me when I use. What others saw was a dragon ripping out of my arm, and as I distanced myself from that life, I got tired of explaining it. Also, tattoos weren't popular then, so I got a lot of unflattering comments and other annoyances with it. I had it removed 5 years after getting it. I should've known better than to get it.

This is balanced out by not letting our own conscience be a burden to other believers. Absolutely if you're with someone who can't stand tattoos, cover it up/don't get one. But if you're the one who can't handle it, you shouldn't burden the body of believers with your own conscience. Causing others to stumble is mostly applied to intimate settings as far as how I've read scripture, and a lot of christians with tattoos evangelize better than ones without. I'd be careful using just that verse to justify something. Restricting everyone's freedom in Christ is a dangerous thing to do.

I had tattoos before being saved and have covered them with ones that show my faith in Christ. All of my tattoos honor Jim and remind me who I belong to. When He returns I will get a new body and they will be gone. Sharing the gospel with the lost should be our first priority because He is coming back soon and God cares more about our salvation then what tattoos we did or did not get.

It's a conscience issue, so one person's line won't be another's. However, if one's line is much further out than those in their life, it may be best to either not pursue the tattoo (or get it somewhere easily covered) even if it doesn't violate their own conscience so as to not become a stumbling block for those whose line is short or non-existent. That said if you're getting, say, racial slurs or pornographic tattoos, you've certainly crossed a hard line.

So you have 2 instructions here. One is not cutting yourself for the dead but for the tattoo is simply not doing it, it doesn’t specify wether it’s for the dead or not, but it’s generalized.

ANY DAY OF THE WEEK CAN BE THE SABBATH DAY - AND THERE IS NO OTHER REQUIREMENT THAN "REST" FOR THAT DAY
"9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:"
These commandments are to be upheld by the INDIVIDUAL not the nation as a whole.
"Do not lie" is for the individual to uphold. "Honor thy father and thy mother" is for an individual to uphold not the nation to create 'Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother Day' celebrations.
This commandment only says you can work for six days in a row but you must rest on the 7th following the sixth. NOTHING MORE. Doesn't say there is any specific day of the week you must choose to start your work week. If an individual chooses to start his work week on Monday then Sunday becomes THAT person's Sabbath day of rest (and nothing more than rest is required of him). Same if a person chooses his work week to start on Sunday then Saturday is his Sabbath day. Individuals can come together for their convenience to agree to start their work week on any specific day and have their Sabbaths coincide..... but that doesn't give any individual or group authority to decide that work week starting point for others.
