I went to Mesa High and I was in the MTC the same time as Justin! I remember the Elder Ballard talk. I also remember the Richard G. Scott devotional address where he publicly reprimanded an Elder who was asked to recite a scripture but didn't say it powerfully enough. "Say it again, WITH POWER!" so the Elder tried and I remember looking over and seeing the Elder cry. Elder Scott also said "I can't tell you how I know, but I KNOW that Jesus Christ lives" and we all looked at each other gasping because he just told us the HE SAW JESUS! Man, fun hearing someone share experiences that I had as well.

Super amazing interview. It is SO helpful to hear others trying to navigate their way through the truth (or untruths) claims.

Great interview as it moved quickly and was very interesting. Love how he and his wife are teaching their children the truth and letting them make their own decisions. That's great parenting. God bless!

I just listened to this one on the podcast and it was really great. It's is really interesting hearing from someone who is so very fresh in this and still navigating the next steps. It would be interesting to check back in with him in 2 years. I appreciated Justin's desire for truth. It was also interesting to see how MS played a role for him.
As a never-Mo in Missouri, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to what it would look like if the LDS church went in on the Happy Jesus Church. It's the Community of Christ. The front page of the COC website says "We proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace." When I grew up around LDS and COC families in the 90s and 00s, the RLDS and LDS churches looked a lot more similar. Now, I'm positive many people try out a COC church without realizing its history.

John, life is full of contractions.
Not that you shouldn't bring it up and it seems naive to make that a binary position of truth and false.
Also, thank you for not interrupting the live with commercials. It makes it so much nicer and easier to follow.

I’ll never believe anything from anyone without hard evidence after leaving Mormonism.

I know of one elderly couple who were terrific, charitable, humble, hard working fine human beings who were comfortable but not wealthy who did not live in Utah. Family confirmed they received 2nd Anointing back in 80s. If so they may have been last of worthy but not rich to have been selected. Husband was never Stake president or higher.

Brigham and Heber (active Mason’s throughout their lives) wrote the temple endowment in St. George. It’s documented and taught at the Brigham Young house. Research it. The endowment and “sealing” were written by Brigham Young. Not part of the church until them.

@@jennedge123 the endowment existed in nauvoo. Plenty of eyewitnesses.

I always loved the Celestial room in the temple. I loved meditating in there.

Yeah, that's one reason I'm still in it. I'm physically in, and becoming more and more mentally out. But I do like the celestial room. Very peaceful room, wonderful place to meditate.

My understanding as a member since birth (well, since 8yo technically), when we become gods, we make our own planets and galaxies, etc. We aren’t *given* a planet (by whom, anyway?). We make our own planets. Disclaimer, I am done with the Church ’cause it sucks in many ways; just saying... Also, everything this guy thought he was taught about Church doctrine, I always felt was it too. My life has been just like this guys: mission, ward & stake councils, everything, all unnecessary as far as I am concerned now.

Brigham is the father of polygamy. Jospeh taught against it his entire life. Affidavits and second hand accounts from 30+ years after Joseph’s murder should be questioned. Look at the Jospeh Smith Papers available online to see first hand source documents. The lack of understanding and knowledge on this channel is astounding.

Erm, no. Smith wasn’t murdered: he was basically a coward who only returned because others including his wife begged him to. As for polygamy Smith absolutely believes in it. Your lack of knowledge is astounding.
