Great video, looking forward to seeing how you finish up. My truck has the same rot, only more down the A pillar. Seeing you do it, makes me motivated to attempt this. Got a bunch of clecos from my buddy!
I was pretty intimidated by the amount of rust on this cab but Sam and I really wanted to keep as much original sheet metal as possible. This time of year time is limited but I will be getting back to it soon!
Hey guy, just found ur channel ! Hey we done my sons 55 p.up about 5 yrs ago I used the Urethane 2k High Build primer & paint on it putting it together & painting the Truck, for the Money he can't beat it, it still looks good like the day we painted it ! Just wanted to tell ya, all about the $$$ 😂
So glad to published this video. I'm currently building a 58 GMC 100 and I have the same rust along the windshield. I've been agonizing over this repair, but very pleased to watch you tackle the repair. If you're interested, please check out my TH-cam channel Midwest Tool Review and you can follow along with my build.
That went very well, did you ever go over and check out Glen at Red Neck Coachworks it’s a must see if you are goin to be doing a lot of rust repair on a tri 5 truck
I need to do the exact job on my 1956 Cameo truck. What company did you buy the parts from? I really appreciated your video. I'm not a body guy , but will learn from this project. I learned alot from your video. Thanks. Jay G
Parts are from lmctruck.com. It’s really not difficult just very time consuming. At first I didn’t think I needed to do the outside piece but it was paper thin so if one is rusted out I would be willing to bet the other is almost there. Take your time and you’ll get it!
@@machnikgarage That is another area I need to work at on my 56 Cameo barn find i recently bought. Your videos are a big help for those of just starting metal working . You are definitely a body guy! Also, showing the tools you use is a big help. Thanks. JG

I do think we will be looking at painting the truck. Not really into the look of every panel being a different color.
Nice build so far!
Thank you! Can’t wait to get back at it
Good info... Thanks
Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video, I have a 59 that needs all the same repairs.
Seems like all the trucks in my part of the country need the same pieces
@@machnikgarage what part of the country are you in?
Central Wisconsin
Found Derek Bieri’s neighbour just listen to this fella🎉
Thank you! The guy is a legend

Its an intimidating repair for sure but hopefully the windshield fits when I’m done. Haha
Is there a reason you didn't want to give the whole cab a sandblast?
Wasn’t in the budget at the time. Might still happen if I can find someone to do it locally.

It’s on my list of things to watch

Any follow ups since this video was done? You doing anything else with the cab? Did the window fit well? Thanks for your videos. Jay G
I will be getting back to the 55 soon. There is plenty of rust to repair/replace. Even going to make custom floor pans.

Where did you buy the patch panel? My truck is rusted out in the same area.
