I was told by a classic auto glass specialist years ago that the seal will always leak unless you use a bedding compound. A bunch of other "how to" videos are dry installs. Yours does a great job explaining WHERE and HOW to use the compound. Many thanks!
Great video. The last tri five windshield I installed was over 30 years ago and I needed to know what the latest products and methods that are being used. You have provided the most in-depth and complete video that includes the sealers and methods that others seem to leave out. Thanks for helping an old dog get back in the game.
Awesome install, I installed the glass on my 57 a couple years ago and now need to redo it and you have explained all that I didn't do when I tried before. Thank you SO much!!!
You can seal the rubber where it meets the cowl & roof panel, stops the water coming through to the pinch weld preventing future rust & less chance of sealer making it's way to the head lining.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Really going to come in handy when i go to putting the windshield in my 55 Station Wagon. I like the idea of using the 3M stuff to..
use a flat screw driver and pull on the inner lip of the seal of the rubber, go all the way around 3 times and the windshield will suck into place, do not pound on or push the windshield you will prob break it. same for the rear window. windshields are actually easy to install on 55 57 chevies and only require one person.
I’m looking at a ‘55 Nomad. The windshield and gasket are installed but the top trim is gone. Will the windshield have to come out in order to get that trim in the slot on the gasket?
I'm not sure, Mike. I did put one in a 57 truck but customer supplied the glass, ive not purchased one. I usually go through my local windshield place when i order vintage glass unless it's custom flat glass. Local windshield place gets a better glass shipping rate and often times these days the shipping on glass is much more than the glass itself.
the best video on doing this install ive found yet. Thank you

I don't think anyone has broken a windshield with their hands, but that's a neat idea.👍

Great video. What brand gasket are you using?
I'm sorry David, I don't remember the brand or maker for the gasket when we did the video.

PLEASEMAKEMORE OF THESE ON BARIOUS TRI FIVE TOPICS...INTERIOR?
Do you have a video of how you removed the glass?
Sorry I don't. We usually cut the gasket, the glass retention lip, then lift the glass out and peel the remaining gasket off the opening flange.
You guys did excellent job on windshield, 57 gonna look when finished, thanks for video, you explained thing very well.
Where did you buy the bedding material?
Likely online or through my local autobody supplier.
